Chesed Week TentELC – 8th Grade(15) $180
The week prior to Parshat Vayera, activity focuses on our very own Ohel Avraham V’Sarah – Abraham and Sarah’s tent – which reminds us of their many acts of chesed.
1st Grade Siddur Play(2) $500, (5) $360, (5) $180
Families rejoice as students receive their first siddur, and recite poems and narratives in Hebrew and English. Children are encouraged to use their new siddurim every day.
2nd Grade Chumash Play(2) $500, (5) $360, (5) $180
Families kvell as children receive their own chumash, and are asked to “remember this day as a special beginning,” using their chumashim for many years to come.
3rd Grade Wacky Wax Museum(5) $180
Students bring historical characters to life in a ‘wax museum’ for parents, fellow students, and friends. Famous characters discuss their lives and contributions.
3rd Grade Rashi Breakfast(2) $500, (5) $360, (5) $180
Students study Rashi’s commentaries on several parshiot in class, complete related projects, and gather for breakfast with family and chavruta to continue analytic learning.
4th Grade Navi Play(2) $360, (5) $180, (5) $100
Celebrate as our children begin their studies of the Navi. The program puts sefer Yehoshua in context, and begins teaching highlights of the Chumash. Reception follows.
5th Grade Melava Malka(3) $50, (3) $100, (3) $180, (3) $250
Motzei Shabbat parent/child learning program on “Brachot,” including teachings, ruach, refreshments.
5th Grade Intergenerational Day(5) $360, (5) $180
Grandparents and special guests visit SAR to teach hobbies and skills, and students create a unique Living Museum exhibit featuring family heirlooms which beautifully tell our stories.
6th Grade Matan Bat Mitzvah Program(5) $180
Sixth grade girls, along with their mothers, study one night monthly to prepare for Bat Mitzvah.
SAR’s students and faculty count on our parents, grandparents, alumni and friends to celebrate and support our milestone events. There are numerous opportunities to enrich academic, co-curricular, secular and Judaic studies for children of all grade levels. Working together as a community, we ensure SAR continues to educate Jews who are deeply committed to Torah, family and Medinat Yisrael.

Learning to Look(5) $500, (5) $360
An introductory, hands-on art appreciation course for first through fifth graders. Receive a special art project from the class.
Israel Curriculum(18) $1,000
Sponsor the Israel curriculum for grades one through eight developed by the Lookstein Center for Jewish Education at Bar-Ilan University in Israel. The program features 16 lessons on Israel and Zionism. Sponsor books for each class, with your dedication on the back cover.

Educational event featuring nationally prominent speakers and presentations on issues and topics relevant for our parents and community.

Eighth graders use a multi-disciplinary approach to create an oral film project on the Holocaust. Students work with a journalist, collaborate with a filmmaker, and interview survivors and liberators. Films are then screened in an evening community event.
