Andover took 11th place out of 46 teams at the New England Prep Cham- pionships. Captain Christian Vallis ’14 (pictured left) and James Palmer ’14 both placed second, and Andreas Sheikh ’15 took third. All three qual- ified for the National Prep School Tournament, at which Vallis took sixth place, earn- ing him All-American status for the second time in his An- dover career. Andover Nordic recorded sat- isfying results with the boys placing as high as fourth out of nine teams and the girls placing as high as fourth out of 10 teams at the Lake Region Champion- ships. Anjali Krishnamachar ‘13 (pictured left) helped the girls place fifth out of nine at Ver- mont Academy. Co-Captains Elana King-Nakaoka ’14 and Sean Burkitt ’14 were influential in Andover’s success this year, and the team will benefit from their leadership again next year. D.LEE/THE PHILLIPIAN Co-Captain Jessica Lee ’13 (pic- tured left), the sole Senior on An- dover Girls Squash, led the team through a solid 6-3 beginning-of-sea- son record and a tough 1-3 end-of- season record. Despite the ups and downs, the team posted a 7-6 final record. The girls competed in Class A at the New England Interscholastic Squash Championships and placed eighth out of the 16 teams in its draw. W.REID/THE PHILLIPIAN Andover Boys Basketball fin- ished its up-and-down season with a 6-15 record. On January 12, the team held the lead for the majority of its game against Tabor but fell 67-73. Later in the season, however, Richard McAllister ‘13 (pictured left) helped the team revenged its loss by beating Tabor 67-59 for its last win of the season. S.MORELAND/THE PHILLIPIAN Andover Boys Squash’s 10-6 final record, a large improvement from last sea- son’s record, was enough for the team to move up to Class A at the New England In- terscholastic Squash Cham- pionships this year. In the team’s first year competing in the Class A draw, Andover placed 14th out of 16 teams. Kun Woo Kim ’14 (pictured right) played fourth seed for the team the majority of the season after coming off an injury. W.REID/THE PHILLIPIAN Andover Girls Basketball finished its season with an 8-9 record. Giovanna Pickering ’13 (pictured left) was an as- set on offense all season for the team, which showed during the team’s 62- 41 win over Brewster Academy. An- dover’s other home-win came against cross-town rival Brooks. Andover beat Brooks 48-39. Andover’s season culminated in a heated matchup with Exeter, which determined which team would obtain a spot in the post-season. Andover lost 61-54 in OT. L.XUAN/THE PHILLIPIAN Andover Boys Swimming and Diving completed another strong season with an undefeated 6-0 record. The team placed fourth out of 44 teams at the Eastern Interscholastic Champion- ship. Considering this was Andover’s first time competing at Easterns, this was quite a feat. Andover’s undefeated 2012-2013 season keeps its in-season clean-sheet alive, as the team has not lost an in-league meet since 2008. Tim Wynter ’14, next year’s captain-elect who garnered three All-American titles at Easterns, pushes off the wall into the backstroke pictured above. Mid-season, Andover kept its undefeated record alive by grinding out a 91-87 win over Deerfield. Andover also delivered at Easterns. Kaitlin Simpson ’14 took second in the 200 Free, Danielle Liu ’14 took third in the 200 IM and Amy Zhao ’14 finished second in the 50 Free. Andover Div- ing was also a formidable force with Lilybet MacRae ’13 (pictured left) setting an Eastern and pool record, earning Eastern Champion in the process. Z.GALLAGHER/THE PHILLIPIAN Andover Girls Hockey team finished with a disappointing 2-20 record and faced a tough 16-game losing streak at the end of the season. Andover played a close game against Cushing toward the end of the season, and was tied 2-2 in the third period. Cushing managed to pull away with three late goals to win 5-2. An- dover’s two wins this season came against NEWHL Pre Prep with a crushing 8-0 vic- tory and Lawrenceville with a close 2-1 win. The team’s most notable victory of the year was the 4-3 win against number one ranked Kimball Union Academy in overtime (pictured above).
