• In kendo, a Japanese martial art, combatants wear full samurai dress while battling with swords made of tied bamboo staves.

POPING AN OLLIE

• Skateboarders can jump off ramps and rails, do tricks, and race in slalom competitions. Here, a skateboarder performs a stunt called an ollie by pushing down on the back of the skateboard and popping the board into the air. Both feet should remain in contact with the board as it sails into the air and returns to the ground.
