The Fifth Annual Athletic Meet of BIS was

conducted on 6th December 2018 amidst great

mirth, verve and camaraderie. The fantastic

turnout of the parents and pleasant weather

was a perfect boost for the students. Mr.Ali

Khamis, the Chief Guest of the meet was

welcomed with a bouquet. The Chief Guest was

felicitated by School Directors followed by the welcome address by the Principal. He

welcomed the guests and shared importance of sports for the holistic development of the

children.

Spectacular and well synchronized sports drills

by the little munchkins of KG-I and KG-II

rendered the spectators speechless. After this

the much anticipated field and track events

started. Prize distribution was held at regular

intervals to keep the spirits high.

Long Live Bahrain!

The 47th National Day of the Island of Pearls was celebrated with great zeal and zest at BIS on 13th December 2018. The corridors and classes were decorated

with Bahrain flags and glittering flowers. The kindergarten kids wore red and white eye-captivating attires and assembled to celebrate the occasion. The event started with

Bahrain National Anthem followed by Pre-KG and KG-I kids dance on melodious Arabic rhythms. Attractive Jalabiyas and elegant

Thobes added flavor to the dancing feet of our tiny tots. Little speakers expressed their love for Bahrain

in different languages. At the end, students enjoyed the fund

raising stalls put up by

Primary students.

Principal congratulated all the participants and teachers for encouraging students to come on

stage and be confident.

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold

everything making it softer and more beautiful."

Taking forward this charm, the students of kindergarten

celebrated Christmas by exhibiting their talent through song and

dance performances. They enthralled the audience with the

enactment of the scene of birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas carols

and Christmas theme based fashion show was the highlight of the

assembly. Secret Santa emphasized the importance of caring and sharing and spreading

goodness everywhere. Principal wished all the students and teachers "Merry Christmas”

and "Happy New Year."

BIS organized the Annual Sports Meet

2018-19 on the 6th December. The staff,

parents and students warmed up to an

exciting and competitive day. Mr. Ali

Khamis was the chief guest for this grand

event. He is the finalist and the Sixth

fastest man at the Rio Olympics & Gold

Medalist at Asian Games.

The day commenced with the introduction of the esteemed

guest followed by lovely and prideful rendition of Bahrain

National Anthem. The torch was lit to commemorate the event

wherein the outstanding sports achievements of our students

for the current academic year were highlighted. The customary

March Past of the four houses, along with the marching music

drew a spontaneous applause from the audience. Principal

addressed the audience. The students entered into the spirit of

the occasion with the oath being administered by the Sports

Captain along with Captains of the Houses. It was followed by

sky lantern ceremony and the Sports Meet was declared open.

The students

displayed

Yoga asanas which mesmerized the

audience.

A peppy and an energizing exercise drill set the

tone for the rest of the event which involved the

participation of the children of KG I , KG II,

Grade I and Grade II. This was followed by the

track events including various races for both

boys and girls. The track events enthralled the

audience. The words of encouragement and

constant applauds resounded the ground

which further kept the spirits high of all the

students.

The most thrilling part of the day was the announcement of the results followed by prize

distribution ceremony where the Directors, Principal, School Coordinator and Teachers gave

away medals and trophies to the sports winners.

The programme concluded with

the vote of

thanks bringing the curtain down on a successful event. It was a day

filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

Bahrain is the land of rich traditions, strong cultural values and modernity. With the

desire to expand and strengthen the child‟s knowledge, BIS conducted multitude of

activities encapsulating the history and culture of Bahrain. The activities were

conducted from 9th December till 13th December‟18 .

The activities ranged from talks on

Bahrain , Quiz competition, craft making activities, special

assembly, bulletin board decoration and raising funds

for charity by organizing a Fun & Food festival.

Bahrain‟s History and culture was discussed in all the classes through a

power point presentation followed by an interactive Inter House Quiz Competition

for Grades III to V. The quiz had various interesting rounds and students

participated enthusiastically. A special assembly was conducted celebrating

Bahrain National Day. Various classroom activities for all the grades were organized

by the teachers.

Students also

decorated the boards

highlighting the important

aspects of Bahrain. Field trip

for Grade IV was organized to share and

show the cultural heritage.

13th December was celebrated as Glad Rags

day; wherein students came dressed in beautiful attires of red and white colour. Also

children enjoyed Fun & Food stalls as put up by the Senior children. The students of senior

grades sold out various items and the money collected from the sale was given as charity.

Overall, students enjoyed the intellectual,

interesting sessions and went back with memories to behold.

Grade IV

The Bahrain National Week at BIS

was a fun filled and grand event. The students of Grade IV Cedar

presented a special assembly on Bahrain National day under the

guidance of Ms. Augustina. The assembly comprised of a

documentary on the geography, history, food and culture of

Bahrain. Students also presented a combination of dance and song-„Shams al Nahar‟ the song

describing Bahrain and its people.

The students were dressed in the traditional costumes to make the assembly presentation even

more meaningful. On the whole, the assembly gave the audience something to learn along with the

entertainment.

Grade I Golden

Grade I Golden presented an assembly on 20th December highlighting the topic-

“Christmas” under the guidance of Educator Ms. Sobi. Little Champs conveyed

a beautiful message about Christmas with a wonderful song and a skit .The skit

presented the little wonders. The grace of Mother Mary and baby Jesus in the manger won the hearts of the audience. The carol

“Silent night‟ sung by the children filled in the atmosphere with peace and tranquility. Students danced on the „Christmas letter song‟ on the possible gifts they can expect to

get from Santa Claus. The anchors confidence, wit and humor added an element of fun in the assembly.

Principal appreciated the efforts of the children and shared his views on

Christmas too.

Educational trips are always interesting

as well as informative. Grade III little explorers went for an educational trip to

Lulu Hypermarket on 12th December.

They were thrilled because for the first time, they walked down the aisles looking

at the various items, compared

prices and purchased them

according to their budget. They also learnt to tag fruits and vegetables, stand

in the lines to bill their products and count the change that was returned to them.

This experience was really very unique and phenomenal for

these young kids as they had a firsthand experience with the skills of Mathematics in their lives.

BIS explorers of grade IV visited the „Sheikh

Salman bin Ahmed Al-Fateh Fort‟ on 12thDecember. This was an educational trip

through which they learnt about the historical monuments and discovered the architecture

used to build forts in the early century. It was a great learning experience for the little ones. They

gained information about the history of kings in Bahrain, art and architecture of the fort,

materials used and its purpose. The students were really excited and intrigued by this trip as it

was a fun-loving experience for them, wherein they learnt many things about the historical past of Bahrain.

The Youth Leadership Program consists of eight workshops of two-hours that enable young people

under the age of 18 to develop their communication and leadership skills through practical experience.

In these eight weeks, the transformation was similar to a caterpillar slowly emerging into beautiful

butterflies.

In this program, children got to know many

important things like

* Evaluating their own speaking ability

* Preparing and giving speeches

* Giving impromptu talks

* Controlling their voice, vocabulary

and gestures

The Grand Finale was held on 15th December where

the Young leaders were ready to prove their skills.

BIS Directors Mr.Himanshu Verma & Ms.Ritu Verma

, Principal Mr. Saji Jacob and Mr. Sajay Gupta were

the adjudicators for the day. Their inspirational and

humorous speeches mesmerised the audience. BIS

Directors and Principal appreciated the hard work

and efforts put forward by senior Toastmasters Mr.

Raghu and Mr. Panchu and YLP coordinators-

Ms.Arpita, Ms. Shivani and Ms. Greetina, also the

young speakers who presented marvellous speeches

and enthralled the audience.

SASTRAPRATIBHA CONTEST

Sastra Pratibha Contest (SPC) is

an inter-school science talent search contest open for students

from Grade V to Grade XII in Bahrain. The first level of the

Sastra Pratibha Contest was organized by Science India

Forum under the patronage of The Embassy of India, Bahrain

and is supported by Indian Space Research Organisation

(ISRO) and Vijnana Bharati (Vibha). It had almost 11,074 student participants in various levels across all the Indian schools of Bahrain. The first level of the screening test was

held on 31st May 2018. 72 participants from various schools were selected for the second level (final round) which is just 0.6% to compete for the title of „Sastra Pratibha‟. Out of

72 students only 16 were selected as Sastra Pratibhas of 2018.

BIS is immensely proud of the achievement of Amrutavarshinee Murugan, as she bagged the first prize

for Grade V category.

The Science Gala- the award ceremony took place at the

Cultural Hall on 7th December and it was organized by the SIF team. Dr. G.D Yadav Vice Chancellor of ICT, Mumbai was

the Chief Guest for the function. Our Indian Ambassador His Excellency Mr. Alok Kumar Sinha was the Guest of honour.

Amrutavarshinee along with other students from various schools were honoured at the

event. BIS students who secured “A+” and “A” grades were also honoured with certificates and mementos at the award function.

The Sastra Pratibhas will be invited by NSM to visit ISRO, DRDO, BRAHMOS missile centre etc. They will get opportunities to interact with the senior scientists of R&D

institutions of India. The Sastra Pratibha Contest and the Science Educational trip to

India is organized totally free of cost to the students.

BIS family extends warm wishes to all the

young achievers who had worked hard for making BIS proud. Special appreciation to

Amrutavarshinee Murugan at this juncture who made the impossible possible!

SPECTRA ART COMPETITION

―Art is not what you see, but what you make others see‖-Christian Morgenstern

More than 5,000 students from various schools of Bahrain took part in an annual art

carnival which was held on 14th December. BIS students made us proud once again, as we say winners never quit. We feel proud to share that Krishanan and Manani were

considered to be top 5 and top 50 winners of the annual art carnival.

SOF EXAM

"A dream becomes a goal when action is taken

toward its achievement."- Bo Bennett

SOF is a registered organization which popularizes

competition and assists development of competitive spirit among school children. To inculcate the spirit of competition

in children, International Maths Olympiad was organised at the national level on 4th December and Cyber Olympiad exam

was held on 20th December.

Online competitive exams were held for different levels to inculcate the spirit of competition in the children. SOF exams were coordinated by Dr. Preet Kamal

Bhatnagar.

BIS wishes all the very best to the participants and for the forthcoming

examinations too.

Feed the hungry, forgive the guilty, welcome the needy and care for them, care for

the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you."

The festival lies in the spirit of spreading joy, kindness, beauty and love during the

season. The key to a successful end-of-the year is to let the children be united, share and care for each other and this can be best done through a wonderful fiesta. Thus on this

particular day, all glittering stars of BIS came together to

enjoy this festive moment with cheer and wonder. Special

assemblies, class parties and fun games made the day

memorable for all.

A race run , a little victory…It‟s one of life‟s great joys to see someone you know accomplish what they‟ve been hoping for and working toward. Our kids with the guidance and support of all of us have proved a perfect way ; through their achievements in the year 2018. We‟ve

organized our ideas and revealed it through our write ups till date.

As the year ends, we congratulate all our children in putting forth the efforts. A new chapter unfolds a new story to be told. We say hello to the new and goodbye to the old.

On the road to success, the rule is to always to look ahead. May we all reach our destination, and may our journeys be wonderful.
