HVLP TURBINE SYSTEMS

HVLP portable spray systems are perfectfor furniture finishing, auto body shops,metal fab shops, contractors, andhobbyists. Their High Volume and LowPressure means high transfer efficiency.This efficiency can reach as high as 90%which results in material savings, andhealthier working environment!

Materials which can be sprayed includevarnish, urethane, lacquer, automotivepaint, epoxy, enamel, stain, latex, oil base,multi colour etc.

The high quality turbine delivers warm dryair which eliminates oil and humidityrelated problems. All Lemmer HVLP unitsfeature a large surface filter which is easilyremoved for cleaning. Each model has aunique combination of high tech noisesuppression materials to ensure a quietrunning machine.

Lemmer HVLP systems feature commercialduty, metal body guns with a stainless steelneedle and seat for maximum durability.Every system is supplied with a generalpurpose nozzle for thin materials such asvarnish, stain, and enamels (latex and oilbase require some extra thinning). This type of gun typically has betteratomization and speed, especially in thickermaterials.

Suction feed versions are best for normalday to day shop use, gravity versions areideal where small batches or color changesare common. Pressure feed versions areused together with one of the pressure potson the next page to make an economicaland high production spraying system.

5) A-910 stainless steel spray gun is a top qualityconventional gun system for use with the newwaterborne products. This gun features stainless in-ternal passages, fluid fittings, needle and seat. Thefluid container is a 3MTMPPSTM system which is fullycompatible with all products, easy to clean, and allowsspraying on any angle without fan flutter. ELECTROSTATIC SYSTEMS

1) The Lemmer electrostatic GM 5000 packagebrings the latest in electrostatic gun technology anddesign comfort to the industrial and commercial finish-ing rooms where quality counts! The GM 5000 EACgun fits comfortably into the operator’s hand and itslightweight (25 ounces) adds to ease of paint applica-tion. With the cascade design concept, voltage isgenerated at the gun, thus eliminating bulky highvoltage cables. Its high efficiency charging system isvariable up to 80 kV. Its non-turbine cascade designeliminates the possibility of vibration. Controls for HVOn/Off and HV adjustment are gun mounted for opera-tor convenience. Excellent paint atomization with themulti channel swirl nozzle, a huge benefit for airlesselectrostatic spray application.

This electrostatic gun offers two spraying modes: AnAir-Assisted Airless, or a straight Airless system (up to3,625 PSI) The Heavy Duty VM 5000 power packelectronically controls the high voltage of the GM 5000EAC gun. The high voltage setting is adjustable from0 to 80 kV and is displayed on a light bar which can bechecked from a distance. An additional light bar dis-plays amperage output, and two LED's indicate whengun cleaning or service is required. The variable highvoltage allows the gun output to be adjusted at eitherthe gun or the power pack to match the coatingmaterial being used and the object to be coated.GM 5000 electrostatic kit (power pack & gun) .................. 2) The Portable System is a truly portable electro-static. With the paint ready, it takes just ten minutes tounpack and begin spraying. Hose and cable areavailable up to 100 feet in length. The electrostatic“wrap” effectively paints the hidden sides of pipes,bars, corners, etc. Examples of uses are: Steel coralfencing, ornamental iron railings, metal door frames,farm equipment, sheet metal products, animal cages,oil tanks, filing cabinets, compressors, etc. There isalso the advantage of being able to hook up a standardairless gun for normal spraying.

The electrostatic effect works best when usedwith industrial enamels which are thinned byaromatic reducers (such as xylene). With theLemmer electrostatic, paint preparation is verysimple; all that’s necessary is proper thinning; noadditives for conductivity "correction" are required!No need for conductivity meters!

The basic principle works on giving the paint astatic charge. Once charged, the paint is attracted tothe nearest grounded object, and will disperseevenly over the entire surface. This results in agreat reduction of overspray, thus saving paint andtime. To achieve all this, the Lemmer electrostaticuses a special multi channel swirl nozzle (detailedabove). It creates a slow spiral fog which allowstime for the paint to “wrap”. Note: Due to the fine“fog” atomization, any air movement (wind or largefans) during spraying will have a negative affect onthe “wrap”. other industrial coatings are sprayed. The two most important things to remember about tips.....1) Low pressure means longer life, for tips and the pump. Less overspray too!2) Worn tips waste paint and overwork the pump, causing premature pump wear. The maximum tip for a pump

is the largest tip that will deliver a proper pressure for spraying without overworking or overloading. When atip is used for some period of time, it can wear beyond the maximum size recommended for the pump, whichwill cause low pressure and poor spray pattern.• Stains and thick latex products often cause the most rapid wear of the tip, while clear lacquers and var-nishes cause the least wear. Thus tip life can vary from as little as 50 gallons to as much as 200 or more,depending on the product being sprayed and the pressure used.• Filter screen mesh for the gun or pump are picked not because of the type of paint being used, but to protecta given size of tip. Tip chart example: Latexstain is being sprayed onto afence. The paint is fairly thick(like a very heavy motor oil)and the L-1095 is the spraymachine. The maximum tipis a .015 for a L-1095. Drawa line along the .015 tips asshown below. Everythingabove the line is sprayablewith the L-1095. Now justchoose the fan width. Forfences a 6” width will give alot of control, so the inter-secting best choice wouldbe a 3-15 tip with a yellowgun filter.

Measure the paint’s viscosity as follows: (note, paints that

are intended to be rolled should be thinned for air or airless

spraying. A general rule of thumb is 5 to 15% for latex and

oils, 30% or more for fine finishes. (consult your paint

supplier for best results).

a) Submerge the Lemmer FORD 4 viscosity cup in the paint.

b) Lift the cup out of the paint and begin timing.

c) Stop timing when the steady paint stream is first broken.

d) The time recorded is the paint’s viscosity.
