It also aims to enhance reading, speaking, and listening. The course integrates different types of literary readings, internet articles, and movies that will provide students with the opportunity to strengthen their writing skills and critical thinking. Course Description and Objectives:Spanish 266 is a composition and grammar course that emphasizes the development of writingskills. It also aims to enhance reading, speaking, and listening. The course integrates differenttypes of literary readings, internet articles, and movies that will provide students with theopportunity to strengthen their writing skills and critical thinking. • Ejercicios/Quizzes/Tareas: Students are expected to complete and correct the textbookexercises that correspond to the grammatical points and readings assigned in class. Therewill be short quizzes to review this material.

• Oral Presentations (OP): Each student will be assigned two presentations. For eachpresentation, students must prepare a handout containing pertinent questions that theirclassmates will answer during their presentations. Students should not read theirpresentations. Each presentation should last from 8-10 minutes. If you are interested inusing audiovisual aids for your presentation, please notify the instructor ahead of time.

• Para estudiar en casa (PEC): These assignments are to be done at home, following thecorresponding instructions. These assignments will not normally be discussed in class.

• Compositions: Students will receive guidelines for composition writing and for errorcorrection. There will be three compositions. Students will need to revise the first twocompositions. Each revision will have to be accompanied by the first draft. The final gradeof the first two compositions will be an average of the grades obtained in the two versionssubmitted. Lack of the first version will result in 50% off the grade for the composition inquestion. Composition # 3 will not have a second version and will be graded accordingly.

• Midterm and Final Exams: A detailed study guide will be distributed before each exam.

• Class participation includes: a) attendance (three unexcused absences will lower thegrade), and b) class discussions.

• All written assignments must be type-written and spellchecked. If your word-processing application does not have a Spanish dictionary, you can proof your work on oneof the computers in the Language Center.

• Late homework or assignments will not be accepted without a valid excuse (illnessconfirmed by doctor’s note, death in the family. etc.)

• Películas: It is mandatory to watch each movie to be discussed in class. The movies will beon reserve at the Language Center and at the Leavey Library in case any student would liketo watch it again.
