A great feeling of pride cameover us when the MildredLande Gift Boutique andFlower Shop opened in thehospital's newly renovatedmain lobby. Its presenceattests to the determinationand creativity of Merle Klam,Dorothy Rotholz and ourmany volunteers. Of course,the continued generosity ofour staunchest philanthropist,Mildred Lande, C.M., has always been our pillar ofstrength.

Our success of the new Boutique now depends oncommunity and Auxiliary support. Visit us wheneveryou need gift items, Panache Cookbooks, collectibles,holiday chocolates and flowers, customized gift basketsand much more. Our buyers, Merle Klam and JoanneMarco are continuously seeking attractive giftwareitems.

Another source of great pride can be viewed on this

issue’s cover page - the many facesof our valued volunteers. Theyoffer daily servicies and broadenour positive visibility. Enthusiasticand committed women and menwheel the Food Cart to clinics andwaiting rooms, where lightrefreshments are sold, push ourCare Cart offering comfort visits topatients, sell books and gift items,package our helping heart pillows,do a shift at the Boutique, become

merchandise clerks at our many sales and on and on, withproject after project.

At The Auxiliary Executive and Board level, bringingsophisticated fundraising initiatives to life and providingeducational programming, brings dedicated and passionatewomen together to make it all happen. We are alwaysready to embark on new challenges.

We wish our members and their families a healthy andhappy Passover.

Director of The AuxiliaryDirector of The AuxiliarySeventy four years young - and ourvision and raison d'etre remain strongerthan ever. The Auxiliary has a veryunique and proud past. We got it thenand we get it now. The Auxiliary openedits doors in 1936 thanks to a group ofdedicated and committed women whovolunteered their time. Since thoseearly years, the spirit of volunteerism,the dedication and efforts of ourvolunteers have been the foundation ofThe Auxiliary.

We continue to play an impressive role within thehospital supporting programs, purchasing equipmentand ensuring that patient care and comfort areoptimum. Despite this past financially challengedyear, The Auxiliary has given just under 1 milliondollars to support the hospital. And we continue toraise the bar with new initiatives while maintainingour ongoing programs and services. We have becomean integral part of the hospital and so many

departments continue to count on and benefitfrom our tremendous efforts. Since taking on the position of Director of TheAuxiliary, I have been astounded by theextraordinary level of commitment anddedication by everyone at the hospital, but thecontribution of The Auxiliary is second to none. Our volunteers are invaluable. We haveachieved so much. There is no magic. It’s thepeople, it’s you, our volunteers. Your selflessdonation of time is the most precious gift ofall. You fuel everything we do. And your

commitment has been there from the beginning.

The health of future generations depends on what wecan accomplish today. Each and every one of you playedan integral role in bringing The Auxiliary where it is today.The Auxiliary will continue to do its part to help supportand deliver the best care for all.
