Webcourses
A CFT webcourse blends the convenience of attending a class online, wherever you may be, with the value of being a part of a live classroom. Use your telephone and computer to join the classroom at a specific time on a specific day with a “live” instructor. Prepare assignments that you will discuss in class and review material your instructor places online. Participate in discussions and ask questions of your instructor during class. Finish the class in fewer sessions earning the same credits as comparable in-person live classes.
Why enroll into a CFT WEBCOURSE?
If a live class is preferred, our webcourses are LIVE!!! All students and the class instructor will attend the class together with their computer and telephone. They will discuss class topics, view material placed online by the instructor and have questions answered directly and immediately by the instructor.
If being able to plan on attending a class at a specific time helps a student to successfully complete the class, our webcourses are scheduled for specific days at a specific time. Students will be expected to participate in each class.
Our instructors are bankers and have been CFT instructors teaching our classes in our live classrooms. Attend your class for two hours once a week for a stated number of weeks. Homework will be assigned and expected to be
completed prior to the next class session. Participate from any location with a telephone and a computer with Internet access – office, home, library…….

Branch Manager Series
What does your branch have that alternate branch channels like mobile banking don’t? The branch has you and your people! As the number of branch transaction continues to fall, community banks must reassess the role of the branch manager. Banks must invest in the manager, giving him or her the right people, tools, customer goals, and sales goals, and step back and watch the results change into a dynamic source of profitability.
This exciting four-day series will focus on the next generation manager who will be leading the transition to customer relationship management, and to manage an active advisory environment for the customer to achieve financial goals. The next gen manager will be leading this vital transformation. The program will focus on the critical skills and expectations that need to be developed to ensure that the next generation branch manager will exceed expectations and goals set. Participants will engage in discussions, small group activities, and skills practices to ensure that ideas are shared and learning is entertaining and adopted.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This series has been developed for branch managers, office managers, teller supervisors, and others who are responsible for the performance of the branch.
REGISTRATION: The registration fee for the 4-part series of $800 includes program registration for one attendee at each session, instruction and materials, breaks and lunches. Assessing creditworthiness of a borrower is about information. Each borrower will have opportunities and obstacles to repayment of the loan. Bankers need to use the information available to identify those potential issues. One of the primary sources will be the financial statements of the borrower’s. Financial statements are how the borrower keeps score on their management of the business. They represent how the borrower has responded to the marketplace factors impacting their business and themselves. Therefore, the banker can use the financial statements as a starting point in identifying the questions to ask about management performance. In “Getting the Story”, the course will look at the issues of preparation of financial statements by the borrower; both Formal and Informal. Also, we will address the role of accountants, the use of financial statements in the credit decision process, and cash-focused analytical tools. Financial Analysis is the tool we use to conduct a thorough assessment of commercial credit risk. Throughout the workshop we will be working with the financial statement information but the focus will be on getting behind the numbers to address the credit risk issues impacting a borrower’s ability to repay. In this multi-day workshop we will:
Discuss the use of informal financial statements as analytical tools. This will include a discussion of Personal Financial Statements, 1040 Tax Return, and Personal Cash Flow.
Review Accounting from the perspective of accountants. Then, shift to accounting for bankers and need to focus on cash outcomes.
Present a Financial Statement Analysis Framework for getting at the key aspects of business financial statement analysis. The Framework will address the three key components of financial analysis—Comparisons, Ratios, and Cash Flow.
Present and Discuss supporting cash analysis tools of Cash Drivers, Cash-to-Cash Cycle, and Cash Cycle.
Utilize small group exercises and homework to compliment the in-class topics.

Qualitative Analysis: Getting BEYOND the Numbers / June 23, 2016 / 9:00am—4:00pm Financial Analysis, which is really quantitative analysis, is about looking at the numbers and assessing the changes. However, it is not really credit analysis until the outcome of the numbers has been explained. That explanation involves moving from num-bers to the events that caused the numbers to look the way they do. Making an assessment of those events involves qualitative analysis. This allows an analysis to be performed around the events, not just the numbers and allows the borrowers business performance to be more thoroughly explained. Managing Commercial Credit Risk / June 24, 2016 / 9:00am—4:00pm Bankers don’t make loans—they make portfolio decisions. The quality of the loan decision will impact bank performance over time. In a constantly changing world, credit risk management becomes a more important focus for the bank’s managers. Therefore it is important that the bank manage this portfolio risk at the bank and banker level. We offer a framework for man-aging credit risk and a process for managing credit risk in this workshop. The desired outcome is a better understanding of the factors impacting portfolio quality at the bank level. Lastly, the participant needs to be aware of the tools for having the banker better manage risk at the transaction level. Topics to be covered include: Discuss role of commercial banking and commercial credit in the marketplace Identify and assess the marketplace and economics factors that will impact portfolio quality Discuss bank’s strategy and impact on credit quality Introduce the Strategic Credit Risk Management Framework and discuss each of its components Introduce the Credit Process Framework and discuss each of its components Review credit decision-making process and it’s impact on credit quality Provide opportunity for participants to assess their bank’s risk management situation. EXTENSIONS One 2-month extension is available for 2-3 credit courses if you are unable to complete your course in the allotted time. Up to two 2-month extensions are available only for the following courses: Accounting II, Analyzing Financial Statements, Economics for Bankers, Financial Accounting, and General Accounting. Written request for any extension must be accompanied by the appropriate fee - $75.00 – prior to the end date and is subject to approval. Extensions ARE NOT GRANTED for courses with less than 2 credits. Any course less than 2 credits which is not completed within the alloted time will be automatically closed and graded on assignments and exams completed by that time.

CFT offers a unique online commercial credit training program focused on providing the initial foundation for underwriting repayment risk for senior debt. The program incorporates the knowledge and expertise of seasoned credit officers. At the end of the program, the participants will have developed basic skills required to elaborate solid and consistent credit memos write ups, based on sound analytical skills as well as loan structuring and documentation fundamentals. Recommended Program of Study: It takes approximately 20 hours to complete the entire on-line credit training program. Students can proceed at their own pace to complete the course. Code of Ethics The Center for Financial Training recognizes that it takes more than quality education and a commitment to the financial services industry to be successful in accomplishing our mission. We rely heavily on our solid reputation for honesty, fairness, and ethical conduct to attract our students, recruit quality instructors, and retain high levels of customer retention and respect that we have worked hard to achieve. Our reputation ultimately rests on the good judgment and personal integrity of everyone – staff, volunteers, students, instructors, and all other associated individuals and organizations – involved with CFT.
Those associated with CFT in any capacity shall commit themselves to: Maintaining the highest standard of personal conduct, avoiding even the
perception of improper conduct Striving for excellence in all aspects of CFT Using only legal and ethical means in all CFT activities, including conducting
all financial transactions in a responsible manner Acting with impartiality in all CFT matters Maintaining the confidentiality of privileged information entrusted to them
by virtue of their association with CFT Refusing to engage in, or tolerate, activities for personal gain at the
expense of CFT or the financial services industry Communicating in a truthful and accurate manner
Academic Integrity CFT strongly supports the concept of academic integrity and seeks to foster sound moral behavior in its students and faculty. Academic dishonesty can take many forms, including cheating on examinations, plagiarism, helping others to commit dishonest acts, etc. and must never be tolerated. Students engaging in academic dishonesty are subject to serious consequences. Instructors who observe or suspect an incident of academic dishonesty shall bring it to the attention of the appropriate CFT office personnel immediately for prompt investigation, review, and action.
Attendance Policy Student attendance and class participation play an important role in the education process. For this reason, CFT has adopted the following attendance policy. More than three absences in a 15 week course, two absences in a 10 week course, one absence in a 5-8 week course, or any absence in a course of less than 5 weeks may result in the loss of course credits, a decrease in grade, or removal from the course. The entire cost of the course will still be charged and the student may be responsible for those charges.
Substitution If you intend to withdraw prior to the start of class, a substitute may attend. CFT must be notified in writing of a substitution prior to the start date to avoid the withdrawal fee.
Nondiscrimination Clause CFT reaffirms its standing policy of nondiscrimination in employment and in all programs and activities with respect to race, creed, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, handicap, or veterans’ status.
Smoking Policy There is absolutely no smoking allowed in any facility that CFT holds programs. Those who smoke will have to do so in designated areas outside of the building.
Inclement Weather Policy In the event of inclement weather, students attending courses held at schools or colleges should listen to their local radio station for closing announcements. Students attending courses/seminars held at financial institutions or other facilities will be notified by the CFT office if the course/seminar will be cancelled due to inclement weather. If you are ever in doubt, please call your instructor or the CFT office at 414-332-6468.
Grading CFT uses an official letter grading system for courses eligible for awarding credit. Letter grades are awarded as follows:
A (90-100%) B (80-89%) C (70-79%) D (60-69%) F (>60%)
P = Passing (Recorded for programs that do not have a formal examination at the end of the course.) I = Incomplete (Recorded when a student is unable to complete course for legitimate reasons. Course must be completed with one month of completion date or grade will automatically become an “F”.) T = Transfer Credit (Recorded for transfer credits from accredited colleges and universities. Only courses completed with a “C” or better may be considered for transfer credit. There may be a fee charged for transferring credits onto the CFT transcript. W = Withdraw (Recorded when written notification is received prior to the conclusion of the course. An “F” will be recorded if the student has not withdrawn in writing.)
Withdrawal Policies Students must notify the CFT office and their financial organization in writing with intent to withdraw. Failure to comply with these instructions, even during the pre-registration period, may result in the student absorbing all fees. Withdrawal forms are available on our website at www.cftncs.org. In -Person Semester Courses - A $50.00 fee applies to all
withdrawals once the registration has been sent to the CFT office.
1-7 Week Course...Must be reported prior to the start date to receive a full refund, $50 withdrawal fee still applies. No refunds will be given after start date.
8-15 Week Course...Must be reported prior to the start date to receive a full refund, $50 withdrawal fee still applies. No refunds will be given after the third class date but a substitute may attend with prior written notification to CFT.
Independent Study - A $100.00 fee applies once registration and payment is received by the CFT office. No refunds will be issued once the student has been mailed the course materials.
Online Course - Withdrawals must be received by CFT no later than ten days prior to the start date to receive a full refund, minus the $50.00 withdrawal fee. Any withdrawal received less than ten days before the start of the course will be assessed a cancellation fee as follows:
6+ week course..................... $100.00 +textbook fee 4-5 week course.................... $75.00+ textbook fee Transfer fee (applies once course starts)....... $150.00 No refund after start date
Self -Paced Online Course - No refunds will be issued once registration has been processed.
Seminars – No refunds issued after the registration deadline. No shows will be charged full amount due. Substitutes are welcome with prior consent.

Bank Trainers Conference 2016 Student Recordkeeping
Recordkeeping The Center for Financial Training follows a strict confidentiality policy regarding CFT student records. All requests for CFT student records must be submitted in writing from the student. The one exception to this requirement is for the appropriate representative at the student’s financial institution to receive the student’s grade upon the completion of the course, and periodically receive transcript information on employees for personnel files. Students sign an authorization to release this information to their employer when they register for a CFT course. Following are the types of recordkeeping services available. Student Transcript CFT maintains all student records on file at the CFT office. Students who wish to obtain a copy of their CFT student records should complete the CFT Transcript Request Form found on our website or obtainable from the CFT office. Most colleges and universities require an official transcript when students request a transfer in of CFT credits. An official CFT transcript costs $25 per copy requested and includes an unofficial copy sent to the student. Please note that transcripts cannot be faxed. If the last courses taken were prior to 1990, an additional $10 archival fee will apply. Credit Transfer Evaluation CFT accepts transfer credit from most colleges and universities. In order to receive transfer credit into a CFT student record, students will need to complete the CFT Transfer Evaluation Form found on our website or obtainable from the CFT office and forward it along with the $40.00 transfer credit evaluation fee. Please instruct your college to send your official transcript directly to the CFT office. Upon completion of the transfer credit evaluation by CFT, students will receive their CFT transcript reflecting which college credits were accepted into their CFT student record.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be received in writing up to five (5) business days prior to seminar/webinar date to receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than five (5) business days before seminar/webinar and no-shows will be charged in full. Substitutions may attend if prior notice is received.
Withdrawal Policy: Students must notify CFT in writing with their intent to withdraw from a course. Forms can be found on the CFT website – www.cftncs.org. Withdrawals from In-Person courses must be received before first class for courses less than eight (8) weeks long and before the third class for courses longer than eight (8) weeks to receive a full refund minus the withdrawal fee ($50). Withdrawals from Online courses must be received ten (10) days prior to the start date to receive a full refund, minus the withdrawal fee ($50). No refunds will be issued after the start date. Withdrawals from Independent Study courses must be received within five (5) business days of receipt of materials to receive a full refund minus a withdrawal fee ($100).
