SAINT MARY’S CARDINALS7-11 MIAC | 18-16 Overall
CONCORDIA COBBERS3-11 MIAC | 16-16 Overall
After going through a stretch of 10games in which they scored one run orless eight times, Saint Mary’s offensebroke out of its mid-season slumberagainst Carleton—erupting for 15 runs ina 7-2, 8-0 sweep. And the Cardinals had so much fun
against the Knights they decided tobreak out the heavy lumber againagainst Hamline—erupting for nine runsin the opening game of their MIAC dou-bleheader. Unfortunately for Saint Mary's, the
Pipers' lumber proved a bit heavier—especially in the sev-enth inning—as Hamline scored six runs in the bottom ofthe seventh to erase a 9-4 deficit and hand the Cardinals aheartbreaking 10-9 setback. And the Cardinals could not recover from the Pipers' six-
run Game 1 rally in the nightcap, falling to Hamline 6-2.Saint Mary's wasted little time flexing its muscles in the
opener, scoring three times in their first at-bat. Hamlinequickly cut the deficit to one with a pair of runs in thebottom of the first, but a four-run fourth and two moreruns in the fifth made it a 9-3 Cardinal advantage.Hamline whittled the lead to five, 9-4, with a solo run in
the fifth—before erupting for six runs in the bottom of theseventh—without making an out—to seal the victory.Stanzy Snyder and Ashley Betzold each collected two
hits to account for four of Saint Mary's eight Game 1 hits. The Pipers picked up right where they left off in Game
2, scoring single runs in the first and second, beforeadding two more in the third to grab a 4-0 advantage.Saint Mary's would break through with a run in the
fourth, but the Pipers quickly answered, putting togethertheir second two-run inning of the game in the sixth for a6-1 lead. The Cardinals scored once in the seventh tomake it 6-2, but that was as close as they would get.Snyder collected her second two-hit game of the after-
noon for the Cardinals, while Katih Opsahl also added apair of hits.

Ashley Betzold was at her best, asthe Saint Mary's right-hander limitedvisiting Concordia to just one run onfive hits over 14 innings in theteams' MIAC doubleheader.Unfortunately for the Cardinals,
Betzold's effort was only goodenough for a conference split.Concordia scored the only run of
Game 1 in the top of the seventh tobeat Saint Mary's 1-0, while the Car-dinals erupted for four runs in thesecond and two more in the fifth toearn the split with a 6-0 victory inthe nightcap.Betzold was virtually untouchable
in the opener, taking a perfect gameinto the fourth and a no-hitter intothe sixth.Madison Little foiled Betzold's no-
hit bid with a one-out single up themiddle in the top of the sixth, whileAshley Tibbetts got the Cobbers' sec-ond hit to lead off the seventh, andeventually scored on pinch-hitterMackee Hoffman's RBI single.Betzold continued her mastery of
the Cobbers in the second game, al-lowing just a third-inning single anda lead-off single in the seventh enroute to her team-leading 14th winand 18th complete game.Sam Borawski gave Betzold all the
run support she would need, blastinga three-run home run as part of theCardinals' four-run second inning.Alexa Diteman and BrittneyBirkhauser added RBIs in the fifth toseal the Saint Mary’s win.
