DO YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN ART,DESIGN OR MEDIA? ARTS UNIVERSITYBOURNEMOUTH IS HOSTING A FREEAND UNIQUE THREE-DAY ART ACTIVITY SESSION FOR THOSE IN YEARS 8, 9 & 10.
THE EVENT AIMS TO ENCOURAGE THOSE STUDENTS WHO CAN BENEFITMOST FROM WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER, WHATEVER THEIR BACKGROUND, TO APPLY TO FURTHER AND HIGHER ARTS EDUCATION.
SPRING ART SCHOOL IS DIVIDEDINTO DIFFERENT SUBJECT AREAS,GIVING YOU THE OPTION OFFOCUSING ON ONE KEY ARTDISCIPLINE.
ACTING FASHION FINE ART INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHY VISUAL EFFECTS (VFX)
WHAT?
This three-day activity is designed to give you a taster of studying your chosen subject at further or higher education level. These sessions will allow you to develop specialist learning, team building,problem-solving and communication skills. Please note, our staff will be responsible for your welfare and safety of all students during the activity.
WHEN?
This activity will take place on 22, 23, 24 May 2018 from 9:30am – 3:00pm. Please note that you will need to commit for the whole three-day duration enabling sufficient time to complete your project. There will be a 45 minute break for lunch on campus at noon.
WHERE?
Spring Art School takes place at the Arts University Bournemouth campus located at Wallisdown on the border between Bournemouth and Poole. The campus offers a series of modern, purpose-built studios, workrooms and teaching areas. The workshops and studios are well equipped to the latest in industry standards and the University offers an enviable provision of specialist computer equipment.
We were recently awarded the Gold Standard rating by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU HAVE APPLIED?
Once all applications have been received, we will let you know whether you have a place or not via your school.
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF GETTING A PLACE ON THE SPRING ART SCHOOL?
Places are limited so please be aware that applying for Spring Art School does not guarantee anyone a place. Where possible, we try to allocate places for those who have a creative passion. You will also be told if you are on the reserve list and we will contact you if a place becomes available.
WHAT IS ARTS UNIVERSITY BOURNEMOUTH LIKE?

DEADLINE
Applications must be completed by 8 May 2018 and places will be confirmed by 15 May 2018.
ACTING
On this dynamic and creative course you will learn how to improvise, how to bring a script alive, how to take to the stage and speak in public. As well as strengthening your performance skills you will study self-motivation & self-discipline, and develop imaginative social and cultural abilities. You will learn how to use your bodylanguage to develop your stage presence and to release your creative expression through movement.
SPRING ART SCHOOL COURSES
FASHION
Our specialist course aims to enhance your creativity through experimentation and risk-taking. You will work on different projects, absorbing influences using our state-of-the-art learning resources, local vintage and high street stores and the expertise of British fashion designers. You will develop your skills through workshops in fashion textile print, creative cutting and draping, fashion branding, illustration and more. The course will culminate with a showcase of all the work and garments created by the group.
PHOTOGRAPHY
This course is ideal for young photographers who would like to learn about camera controls and develop an awareness of visual elements and composition. Following an introduction to industry tools, you will have the opportunity to explore image manipulation and creation. Throughout the session other artists’ work and ideas will be introduced to broaden your contextual and visual knowledge.
FINE ART
This course will introduce you to new ways of thinking and using various material processes within Fine Art by working on a mini project over the three days. You will explore drawing, printing and painting as well as 3D forms. Working in a purpose-built studio and with access to an arts library crammed with inspiration, you will be encouraged to experiment and test out new ideas using a range of materials and new ways of thinking.
INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
This course will introduce you to new skills and knowledge through the adaptive re-use, re-branding, re-modelling, re-cycling and re-communication of existing spaces, structures and environments. You will also explore how to create challenging, innovative places to find out what it is like to study Interior Architecture. Through a studio process of making and thinking you will be given the opportunity to design, draw and model a modern day city of the future.
VISUAL EFFECTS (VFX)
On this course we will give you the chance to unleash your imagination. You will be shown how visual effects can be used in a multitude of ways; to change the weather in a film, to give a character a makeover, and to alter a landscape – to make your mark on the world by changing it. An exciting mini project will be introduced using effective digital software.
