"Laughing in the Face of Stress"

Karyn Ruth White, Keynote Speaker

We have become a society of over-worked, over-stressed, under-joyed "groan-ups." We’re plagued with high-blood pressure, early signs of heart disease, migraines and a myriad of stress-related illness. We're losing sleep, missing work, having trouble concentrating and just plain feeling miserable. According to The American Institute of Stress, job stress is estimated to cost U.S. Industry over $300 billion dollars annually. Did you know that research has shown that one good laugh can relieve up to 15 minutes of stress-related tension in the human body? Then why aren't we doing more of it?

National Humorist and Life Skills Coach, Karyn Ruth White, will help us look at the role of attitude, humor and laughter as powerful tools in easing stress. We will look at how our attitude about our lives and our work directly affect our levels of optimism.

“Achievement, Technology and Leadership”

Dan Maas, Ed.D., Keynote Speaker

Chief Information Officer Littleton Public Schools

More than 10 years into the 21st Century finds us in an age replete with technology and ripe with innovation. Technology solutions are so diverse; it is often difficult to keep one’s focus. And when one considers the importance of educating the youth, it is no wonder that most are cautious about aggressively pursuing experimentation. Innovations must be tempered by just cause and sound research that give reasonable assurance of success because there is no more precious commodity than our children. In Littleton Public Schools, technology is unleashing the innovative potential of teachers and students to not only master the skills of the 21st Century, but raise basic literacy achievement as well. Dr. Dan Maas has served as the Chief Information Officer in Littleton over four years during which time the computer fleet has nearly doubled from 5,600 to over 10,000. Student achievement in writing has been shown to rise in classes where the Inspired Writing program using Linux-based netbook computers have been deployed. All of which has been accomplished during an age of budget cuts and support staff reductions. Join us for a discussion of leadership and team-building; of goal-setting and accountability; of finding success even when times are tough. Break …………………………………………………………………… 10:30 A.M. – 10:45 A.M.
