Spring Term in
Class 4 Gangsta Granny
Class 4 began reading Gangsta Granny by
David Walliams and have created some great
pieces of work based on the story. In literacy
lessons, we drew an artist’s impression of Ben
and Granny and wrote some gruesome
recipes
which
were
inspired
by
Granny’s
“cabbage
soup”.
For our class display, we
drew and decorated a life
size image of Ben and
Granny, using a range of
materials such as
watercolour paint, wool and
felt.
When we finish the book at the start of the
summer term we will be visiting the Empire
Theatre in Sunderland to enjoy the stage
production of the story. We are really looking
forward to it!!
Skipping!
As part of our P.E.
lessons, we took
part in a skipping
workshop and
learnt lots of new
skills. Gail, our
skipping teacher,
showed us how to
skip as part of a
group and develop
some amazing
individual skills. We have been working very
hard since then and will be taking part in a
skipping festival in May where we can
showcase our new abilities.
St. Bede’s
During this term, teachers from St. Bede’s
school came to deliver some fantastic art,
music and P.E. lessons. We had such fun
learning a dance routine, creating art work
using repeating patterns and even recorded a
CD of some songs we had learnt. Later in the
year we will have the chance to visit St.
Bede’s school and see our art work on display.
Orienteering
In our maths
lessons, we
learnt about the
compass points
and following
directions. In
one lesson, we
were given a set
of instructions
and a map of
the school
which we followed in order to find a hidden
message. We really enjoyed working as part
of a team to improve our problem solving and
orienteering skills.
World Book Day
Every March,
our school
celebrates
World Book
Day. We all
come to school
dressed as a book character and take part in
lots of fun book-related activities.
This year we were given the chance to visit
Class 1 for a fun session. We all took a reading
book and read to a younger child to help
them to enjoy the experience of reading. We
talked about
the story
with other
children and
had a really
lovely time!
Easter Fun!
During the
Easter period
we had lots of
fun creating
our Easter
bonnets,
decorated eggs and dyed eggs. We had a
lovely shared meal which reminded us of the
Last Supper which Jesus shared with his
friends.
