SPRING2020SESSION

NOT JUST A B IBLE STUDYCommunity Groups meet weekly in homes as well as on the TLR campus to share in friendship, discipleship, and serving. Each group typically runs 1.5 to 2 hours per session.

Community Groups run for 10 weeks. Your group will participate in group discussion, following the guide of the study material. You will experience encouragement and prayer from the support of your group members. Light snacks are also typically served.

Apart from just coming together for your group sessions, Community Groups plan and prepare community service projects. Typical projects include feeding the homeless, helping someone move, take needed meals, and yard care, just to name a few.

Your group will also share in three experiences together outside of your group time: prayer, serving, and fun activities.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?Look through this catalogue and choose a group that best suits you. Then fill out the Registration Form and drop it off at the Kiosk or Registration Table. You can also register online: tlrcommunity.com/community-groups.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?Each study is slightly different. Your Community Group Host will be in contact with you about materials, cost, and how to purchase any other resources.

IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED?There is childcare provided for most groups that meet on campus. The kids get dropped off in the Preschool room. The cost is $75 for the whole 10 weeks, or $7.50 for each night that you use it. This cost is for all the children in your family. Whether you have 1 child or 6, the price is the same.

Cindy Miller-Buel | 10am | Kennewick-Women’s group Sensible Shoes – Sharon Garlough Brown (Materials: $15)This novel tells the moving story of four strangers who embark together on a

journey of spiritual formation. Along the way, readers will be taken into a new understanding of key spiritual practices and find tangible support for the deeper life with God. Alongside the novel, scripture reading, prayer, and reflection questions are included.

Bad Girls of the Bible –Liz Curtis Higgs (Materials: $15)This study brings to life ancient stories and unforgettably reveals how timeless

truths of the Bible apply to today’s woman. Most women (if they’re honest) see the selfishness of Sapphira or the deception of Delilah. Like Bathsheba, Herodias, and the rest, today’s modern woman is surrounded by temptations, exhausted by the demands of daily living, and burdened by her own desires.

Gideon – Priscilla Shirer (Materials: $20)This study on the life of Gideon will encourage you to recognize your weakness

as the key that the Lord gives you to unlock the full experience of His strength in your life. Instead of trying to escape your weaknesses, learn to see them as the gifts given specifically and strategically by God. If you’ve ever felt insufficient or

ill-equipped, this study is for you.

Stuck – Jennie Allen (Materials: $10)This study provides a safe place to take a deep look inside yourself, expose it, deal

with it, and find the freedom God intended for you. The study is intended to lead women to consider the truth and how it applies to their lives by using story-driven teaching, Scripture Study, and interactive projects. When we soberly view ourselves and our sin, we see our need and call out for God.

Design – Wayne Codero (Materials: No Cost - RightNow Media)Through individual and group assessments, you will find great joy and fulfillment

when you discover your gift. DESIGN is an acrostic that stands for the different ingredients that, when combined, equal YOU! You’ll be on your way to realizing your full potential in Christ. The more you understand the way the Lord designed you to be, the better you will be able to cooporate with His design.

The Armor of God – Priscilla Shirer (Materials: $20)All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt

throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you. But his battle plan depends on catching

you unaware and unarmed. If you’re tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.

A Woman’s Heart – Beth Moore (Materials: $20)Our world is full of talk about grace. But grace is easily misunderstood. This

interactive Bible study will help you to explore grace through the lens of Jesus’ interactions and teaching in the gospel of Luke. In these stories, you will

discover a richly textured world filled with the beauty of God’s character, and the truth about grace.

through the book of Philippians, encouraging you to live a cruciform life. This series will show how the gospel changes people. You will walk away with more hope and joy as you study how God wants you to live a life transformed by his work.

Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 –W. Phillip Keller (Materials: $8)Travel the shepherd’s path to the green pastures and cool, refreshing waters of

Psalm 23. As a shepherd, Phillip Keller shares his insights into the life and character of sheep-and of the Good Shepherd who loves and cares for them. This study will give new meaning to the ageless Shepherd Psalm, enriching your trust in and love for the Lord who watches closely over you.

Galatians – Kyle Idleman (Materials: No Cost - RightNow Media)Writing to the Galatians, Paul made it clear how easily we can be tempted to turn

toward fraudulent gospels, especially those that teach we can earn God’s love through our works. Through biblical study and engaging lessons, this study shows

Budget Sense – Sandi Paradiso (Materials: No Cost)Let’s be honest. Sometimes, it’s hard to stick to a budget. As you learn to create a livable and workable budget it will help you move towards better living. This will

help you implement your plan and stay on track. As you learn to monitor your budget and reflect on the process, you will make changes as needed. This will help you keep going and help you achieve financial success. If you stick with it, you’ll be successful (and it will be worth it).

The Third Third of Life – Walter C. Wright, Jr. (Materials: $13)Considering retirement can be daunting. How do you know how to best plan for

the future? Now there’s a helpful guidebook to lead you thoughtfully into the third third of life. This study will help those moving toward retirement plan out their

next steps. Developed and field-tested at the Max De Pree Center for Leadership, this study will help prepare for the next chapter of life with confidence.

The Rooted experience redefines how people live life and view their relationship with God and others, giving context to what it means to be part of something bigger. You will begin to see God in new ways, allowing you to experience a different way of life: community, authenticity and generosity.

Rooted is an interactive experience. In the course of 10 weeks, you will get together weekly with your group to talk about what God has been revealing to you as you go through the week’s reading, journal entries, and prayer. You will also learn from one another as the Holy Spirit works to comfort, encourage, and guide each member.

Cost is $40 for the 10 weeks of Rooted, which also includes the workbook/journals, a t-shirt and the celebration dinner.
