We might be heading rapidly towards mid 2018 but we have got news for you: looks like the 90s are back. The

remarkable fashion trends of that decade are making a very strong appearance this season. Be it sheer dresses, dark denims, fanny packs, floral patterns or slip dresses, you name it. The 90s were marked with fashion trends that made a statement, but no where near as flamboyant as the 70s and 80s. It was less loud, more subtle and classy in that sense, and this season, we are seeing the resurgence of these trend in full fledge.

When we mention the 90s, think the infamous gold Versace pattern and its variations and you will get exactly what we

mean. Floral prints that take on a majestic hint, along with dresses with sheer patches. Metallics

were also a trend that carried on from the eighties well into the mid 90s.

Slip dresses have been making an appearance, but this season they look much more appropriate to be wearing outside your bedroom. The dresses are more substantial than what we have seen the past two seasons and certainly more glamorous. Dark denims are also very popular this season, as well as combining denims together in one outfit - something that has been much frowned upon for long now deemed quite acceptable.

But the crowning touch has certainly been the fanny packs. This is one trend that is unmistakably exclusive to the fashion of the 90s. The wrap-around-the-waist pouch that was also referred to as a bum bag was very popular and trendy during that decade, everyone was wearing them at the time. Now they come in different shapes, material and colors from some of the biggest design house names like Moschino and Gucci.

Jones’ move comes as a surprise, given his discussions to join Versace last fall, and he was also said to be a contender to succeed Christopher Bailey at Burberry. Pietro Beccari, CEO and Chairman of Christian Dior commented on the move saying: “I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones, with whom I had the chance to collaborate previously at Louis Vuitton”. “I admire his creative vision, which combines both his own inspirations of contemporary culture and his own reinterpretation of specific codes and heritage of a house. I am confident in his ability to recreate his universe within the Maison Dior and imagine for Dior Homme an elegant and resolutely modern wardrobe.”

Graduated from Central Saint Martins in London, Jones has had a storied fashion career, with John Galliano snapping up his graduate collection in 2003. It is worthy of mentioning that Jones has been named British men’s wear designer of the year in 2006 and his resume also includes stints at Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Hugo Boss and Umbro.Jones is said to be presenting his first ready to wear and accessory collections for Dior Homme next June during Paris men’s fashion week.

As far as the gentlemen are concerned, to call this season merely interesting is a massive understatement. Starting with the color tones, livid, a colour that hits between gray and blue was the most popular colour shown by designers for the season. The great news is that it’s not only a fantastic colour for a suit (especially one for you’ll wear on the weekend), but it also works like a charm with white jeans and will warm up all skin types.

Darker tones have made a strong appearance in the casual range. Mainly in solid colors, shirts, short-sleeved hoodies and polo-shirts in black,

navy-blue along with many other dark jewel tones dominate the scene this season. Well, one can’t complain about that, your chances of going wrong with a solid coloured shirt on any shade of jeans or linen pants are near non-existent.

From tartan to glen plaid checks, squares are everywhere to be seen this season. Now as for the formal attire, the only thing we can’t help but notice, is that it’s getting less formal by the minute! The cuts and finishing distinctly belong to the casual range, the fit is slim and tight this season, the material is more mixed cottons and linens than we would normally find in the more formal ranges. Sometimes mixed with a pair of sneakers or a waterproof hoodie to compliment, but formal wear for men as we have always known it doesn’t seem to exist this season.

Sparkling whiteNot for the faint of heart! Fresh out of the animation movie Frozen, the fairytale color is all the rage this season, whether coming alone or in a mixture of salt and pepper hair. This shade would certainly make you stand out this summer, just picture your shimmering white locks blown away by the wind on a background of sea blue and golden sands, now call your hairdresser to make that appointment.

Burnt OrangeA very well deserved tribute to fellow Scots and Irish, the color is part orange, part re. The fiery look will make you feel like Princess Merida from the animation movie Brave. While it suits a limited array of skin tones, if it sits well with your skin colour, it is guaranteed to give you a look that lingers in the minds for long.

BrondeAs the name suggests, this is a combination of brown and darker blonde hues that look beautiful on everyone. It fuses the two colours creating a flattering sun-kissed end result that is ideal for the summer.

Who doesn’t like a perfectly bronzed, glowing summer skin? Absolutely no one! As the heat picks up and the sun gets stronger, we all whip out our sun tanning products and head straight for the beach. But while the bronze glow is highly coveted, if not done correctly, can be very harmful to the skin on both the short and long run. And since we wouldn’t dream of telling you to give up on that gorgeous summer tan which we wouldn’t give up on ourselves- we are going to tell you how to do it right.

While there are certain harms to being in the sun, lets’ not forget that there are many benefits too. To name a few, It boosts levels of serotonin (nature's own Valium, proven to alleviate anxiety). Not only that but it produces vitamin D which is good for bones, teeth and skin. But to avoid premature ageing and skin cancer risks you need to take care for a safe, sun-kissed glow.

Don't just rely on SPF; on the bottle you need to look for the term 'broad spectrum' or the UVA logo plus the word 'high'. Go for SPF30 over SPF50. It filters 97% of UVB rays, while SPF50 filters 98%.

The latter can give a false sense of security and can be so chalky you may not reapply it every two hours like you should. Your skin reaches a tanning cut-off point when it physically can't produce any more melanin, the tanning pigment, so it's pointless to lounge by the pool all day. Everyone has their own melanin

cut-off, typically two to three hours or much less if you have fair skin. After this you're just subjecting your skin to the risk of UV damage. Also, taking

breaks from the sun will reduce UV intensity and your sunburn risk and means your tan will be healthier and longer-lasting.

Certain foods are known to increase lycopene, the skin's own SPF. An antioxidant found in tomatoes, and

other red and orange fruit and vegetables, it can boost your sun protection by a 33%. One of the best sources is tomato paste – who would have thought! Green tea also contains antioxidants called polyphenols. Sip it after a sushi lunch." (Fish, rich in omega-3 has anti-inflammatory powers too).

Dark chocolate is packed with flavonoids that can help protect against sunburn, while caffeine is thought to help cut your skin cancer risk. It's best taken in an espresso shot right before you hit the beach.Last but not least, don’t forget to use after sun lotions and moisturizers, an after tan reviving and exfoliating facial would be a recommended treat after several days in the sun.

The art of being in PILATES

CONTROLPilates is a form of workout that was developed early in the 20th century by Joseph Pilates, a German gymnast and body builder. It is becoming increasingly popular in many regions of the world as a comprehensive physical fitness system. Pilates is presented as the “art of controlled movements”, its methodology depends primarily on breathing, alignment, strengthening the core and improving coordination and balance. If practiced regularly, it is said to improve stability, build strength and develop control and endurance of the body. Pilates is based upon nine main principles: breathing, concentration, control, centering, flow, precision, postural alignment, relaxation and stamina. Pilates uses breathing as a form of body cleansing; it uses deep breathing patterns that assist in increasing the oxygen intake, which in turn leads to maximizing the benefit of the workout. Pilates requires focus; sometimes the way an exercise is done is more important than the exercise itself. It is also all about control; in fact, Joseph Pilates preferred to call his method “Contrology”. In all exercises, the muscles work against gravity and the spring resistance, hence controlling the body and the equipment. To achieve this control, you have to start from the center, or the core muscles, where all Pilates movements stem from. The flow of movement is one of the most important elements of Pilates, it is achieved through proper transitions and movement coordination. Using correct posture during the workout is essential to ensure safety and avoid injury.

If you want to lose weight, you might want to combine Pilates with another Cardio routine. Pilates builds and shapes muscles beautifully, but it is not a fat burner. However, if you do include it in your weight loss program, be sure that you will come out not only minus the excessive weight, but also looking –and feeling- toned and spectacular

Precision in Pilates is a key element; it aims to create perfect and precise movements that –with regular practice- become second nature improving the overall appearance of a person. Relaxation is an important state of mind and body for Pilates, and stamina is one of the most important results, if all the previous elements were adhered to. WATCH your colors!

Watches this season are coming in variations that are very different from what we are used to. Even the biggest and most classical watch designers are adding this twist to this seasons collection. And what could that possibly be? Colors. Yes, you heard it right, you might think, what is so different about adding a bit of color to a watch, that’s not exactly unusual, well, we beg to differ. It is not only about a watch being colorful here, it is about how many colors can you really incorporate in the design of one watch, which part of the watch is that color being applied to, and the color combinations that we have seen this season which come as quite the surprise.For instance, we have seen a classic Rolex in full gold with a bright green dial, we have also seen some rainbow bezel on a full metal case. Bulgari offers a wrap-around gorgeous red strap on a gold case with a red dial, along with many other brands that combined the matching strap/dial colours.
