Welcome to the Spring and Summer seasons at the Miles Nadal JCC. I recently stepped into the role of Executive

Director and am enjoying this time of renewal and transition. There has been such an enthusiastic response from our members and patrons, and I feel extremely fortunate to have taken on this role, allowing me to serve the organization and community that I love. The MNjcc transforms lives. I have seen this personally and professionally in my 21 years here, and I have raised my family here. These warmer months tend to fill me with a sense of rejuvenation and purpose, and so I encourage you to join me by taking that first step. Swim with us; spin with us; sculpt with us; sing with us.If not now, when?

Harriet Wichin • Executive Director

Welcome to warmer days at the MNjcc. Spring brings change for our members and families, including a new strategic plan

and new leadership in the Executive Director’s office. The Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Harriet Wichin to the role and while Harriet is a very familiar face around the MNjcc, we are confident that she will bring new perspectives and rise to new heights.

And it is with great fondness that we also say goodbye to retiring Executive Director, Ellen Cole. We won’t miss her, of course, since she’s promised to return regularly to sing show tunes in the women’s locker room. Happy retirement, Ellen!Change is afoot at the J, and if you splash in the pool or pose in downward dog on the rooftop, you just might feel it!

Jodi Shanoff • President

Miles Nadal JCC • Welcome

Hello Members, Patrons and Parents – dear friends.

As I leave the MNjcc and look back on my 13 years here, I realize there are so many remarkable accomplishments that we have achieved together and so many people to thank. But that would take up too much space so, instead, I will just point out the incredible breadth of programs and activities that are

available from fitness and wellness, through our many schools, music classes, adult education offerings, and holiday events; it’s all here under one roof.

I am delighted to pass the baton of Executive Director to Harriet Wichin, who has been an integral part of the MNjcc for over 20 years.

Thank you Ellen T. Cole

ChIlDCARE & PRESChOOlThe Libbie Cowan Childcare Centre (18-30 months) and the Thomas & Marjorie Schwartz Preschool Centre (2.5-5 years) nurture the growth and development of young children. We follow the JCCA Sheva program which focuses on seven important pillars of education, and our program is guided by these pillars which include understanding that children are constructivist learners who learn bestthrough play and experiences. Children master many skills while exploring their environment so our main goal is to offer them a program that is rich inopportunities and social interaction. We strive to encourage each child to develop a strong sense of self-worth and self-confidence. level 3 Level 3 introduces front crawl fundamentals and safe entries. This is the first time participants will work on surface support. Participants who have completed the entire Preschool program should enter Swim Kids at this level.

level 4 Level 4 incorporates all front crawl elements into one stroke, and fundamentals of back crawl. Completion of this level includes one length of our pool, 45 seconds of surface support, and a kneeling dive.
