About the Silk Road Cultural Initiative (SRCI) Arts GrantsThe SRCI Arts Grants aim to support cultural actors who are engaged in the production, promotion, conservation, and dissemination of Afghanistan’s intangible cultural heritage. The program supports initiatives that enable, enhance, and strengthen diverse cultural values encouraging peaceful dialogue, contribute to the cultural growth of Afghanistan, and support creative industries; as well as provide support to the contemporary creative practice of Afghan artists. As part of its Arts Grants program, SRCI has established an Artist Residency with BRITTO Arts Trust, an organisation that plays a leading role in stimulating, supporting, and encouraging contemporary artistic dialogue and produciton.
About Britto Arts TrustBritto is an artists’ run non-profit network incepted in 2002 in Dhaka, Bangladesh with a global reach for the very first time of its kind. It is permanently spaced in Green Road, Dhaka but works extensively in different locations across the country. The spirit of Britto lies in Innovation, Dedication, Collaboration, Commitment and Passion. Britto works as a catalyst for supporting and promoting new ideas. Britto is an expansive contemporary art environment and culture that seeds and promotes multiple interdisciplinary practitioners, groups and artist networks. Britto aims to exist as a large, permanent, and sustainable physical space and non-commercial contemporary visual art hub where artists experiment and create innovative and inter disciplinary art work that challenges the art scene of Bangladesh and beyond.
About the Art ResidencyThe SRCI Art Residency is meant to provide an Afghan artist with the chance to broaden his/her experiences and provide a moment for dialogue, exchange, and creative production within the context of Dhaka’s bustling arts scene. An Afghan artist will be selected to spend 4 weeks living and working at BRITTO’s dynamic space on Green Road in the Dhanmondi neighbourhood of Dhaka. With the support and guidance of BRITTO through its network of artists, the artist will be able to take advantage of Dhaka’s bustling artistic scene through visits to the various art centres and institutions such as the Charukola art school at Dhaka University, the Shilpakala Academy, the Pathshala Photography School, and more. Beyond this, the artist will be inspired by the overall creative density of Dhaka as he/she pursues his/her creative initiative during the Residency.

It is not, however, limited to these fields.
You are receiving this questionnaire because you may be an individual or organization who is currently, or has been previously, involved in the production, promotion and protection of Afghanistan’s intangible cultural heritage.
