A team of Professors from Bharathiar University and Amet University visited

SKCET to gain insight on the best practices in teaching learning, research and

extension activities of SKCET. The team comprising of Dr.T. Devi, Professor and

Head, Department of Computer Applications, Bharathiar University,

Dr. M. Jayaprakash vel, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Marine

Biotechnology & Coordinator-IQAC, AMET University and Dr.S. Prabhakaran,

Professor of Marine Engineering, AMET University were received by our Principal

Madam and the heads of various departments. The Institutional best practices

were presented by Principal Madam followed by interactions with Heads of the

departments and facility visit.

To provide a forum to exchange ideas on the latest innovations in the field of Deep Learning,

the Fourteenth day of the AICTE Sponsored Two Weeks FDP on “Deep Learning and

Computational Intelligence in Bioinformatics” commenced today. The Resource Person

for the day was Dr.P.Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, VIT Vellore. He gave a deep

insight on „Galaxy workflow Management System‟ and Enlightened the need for Recurrent

Neural Networks(RNN) and Long short Term Memory Networks(LSTM).

Mr. K. P. Yuvaraj, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering has

successfully defended his Ph.D thesis entitled ‘Investigation on Mechanical Properties

and Microstructural Behaviour of Friction Stir Welded Aa7075-T651 and Aa6061 Joint‟

under the guidance of Dr. P. Ashoka Varthanan, Head of the Department, Mechanical

Engineering. Congratulations to the fresh Doctorate!

Second year Students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering visited

Sarvamangala Engineers Pvt. Ltd. Coimbatore. Mr. Nagarajan, Project Engineer - New

operations, guided the students through the shop-floor. Students observed the machining

operations in lathe, milling machine, CNC and clarified their doubts. Students were given

inputs about the activities in the foundry industry and the need for automation in the

industries to sustain the future. Mr.S.Vignesh, Class tutor accompanied the students.

About the Industry:

Sarvamangala Engineers Pvt. Ltd has been recognized for the manufacture of Moulding

machines. The company is one of the best suppliers of jolting machine across the continent.

Second year Students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering visited

Sri Vinayaga gears pvt. Ltd. The students gained knowledge about the recent advances in

the gear manufacturing and gear finishing process. The quality inspector of the industry

explained the process and clarified the doubts of the students. Dr. C .Rajendran and

Mr. S. Raja accompanied the students. The industrial visit enhanced the practical knowledge

of the students.
