Disband VDCs, disarm its members: KCSDSSrinagar, Dec 24: Kashmir Centre for Studies and Development Stud-ies (KCSDS), a civil society group, today demanded immediate dis-arming of VDC members and disso-lution of VDCs.
Srinagar, Dec 24: Hurriyat Confer-ence (G) today alleged that the Village Defense Commi ees (VDCs) were a “military mafi a of the selected communal forces” created to sup-press the Muslims living in Jammu division.
“VDCs are a military mafi a of the selected communal forces, terror-ist members of which are involved in murders, robbery, kidnappings, rapes, drug trade and other serious
off ences,” Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said in a statement.
He said reckoning these “crimi-nals with the political party is a non-sense thinking and it is an a empt to hide the criminal face of these communal forces which is in no way acceptable to us.”
Expressing shock over the refusal by the BJP leader and deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh to disband the VDCs, the Hurriyat said:
“The statement of Nirmal Singh vin-dicates our stand that Mu i Muham-mad Sayeed is just a show boy and the state is actually ruled by him (Nirmal Singh).”
“Due to the terror of this force, hundreds of aff ected people are scared to open their mouth against them. The purpose of the creation of the VDCs was that the Muslims of Jammu division will be suppressed
