This programme was named ‘’Chitra Katha 2019’’. On the August of 19 th ,2019 at the seminar hall of Krishna Block Srinath fine arts held the preliminary round of Chitra Katha. In which over one hundred students participated. The preliminary round was held from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The results were announced on 26 th of august 2019. Over 25 students were selected for the art workshop programme. The art workshop was held for two days at the drawing room of Visual Communication department. 27 th of September, 2019 was the first day of the workshop. Mr. G. Shiva, a well reputed artist from Chennai instructed the students on proper painting etiquette and helped them improve their skills. This workshop was continued on 30 th September where Mr. G. Shiva showed the student few tricks of the trade. The workshop concluded at 4:30 PM on the second day.

“Chitra Katha 2019” – Musings through Canvas (19-08-2019)

Srinath Fine Arts initiated an art programme to fine tune the skills of the students at DG Vaishnav.This programme was named ‘’Chitra Katha 2019’’. On the August of 19 th ,2019 at the seminar hallof Krishna Block Srinath fine arts held the preliminary round of Chitra Katha. In which over onehundred students participated. The preliminary round was held from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Theresults were announced on 26th of august 2019.

Over 25 students were selected for the art workshop programme. The art workshop was held fortwo days at the drawing room of Visual Communication department. 27th of September, 2019 wasthe first day of the workshop. Mr. G. “Swatantra 2019” – Transforming my India to Our India

Srinath Fine Arts celebrated the 72nd Anniversary of India’s Independence through “Swatantra 2019” on 14th August, 2019. The programme started around 10 AM with a powerful skit about India’s History. Followed by a medley performed by V-Major, The college musical band.

The medley was followed by a rap song performed by Yuvraj from BA Economics and Prince Jasper from BA Economics.

The programme was concluded with a dance performance by dancers of Srinath Fine Arts.The dance performance included semiclassical rendition on songs from various states of India.

Utsav 2019 - A Navaratri And Golu Celebration

The Navaratri celebrations extended for fivedays from 30th September to 5th October,2019. In these five days both the studentsand the staff members participated in thecelebration. On the first day, 30th September,‘Utsav 2019’ Began with Veda Parayanamfollowed by a symphony by student ofPhysics and mathematics department. Later,A classical dance was performed by studentsof BBM. After the classical performance,there was an instrumental performance byDr. V. Sowmyanarayanan and Prof. M.S.DThilagavathi.

The first day was concluded with a Carnatic music performance by students of BA BusinessEconomics.

The second day of the celebration began with Vishnu Sahasranamam followed by a classical danceperformance by students of BA Criminology and Bio-Chemistry and ended with a musical renditionby Prof. N. Vikram.

The third day began with Pancha SookthaParayanam followed by bhajans by Dr.N. Alamelu Sathyabama, Dr. R.Premalatha and team. The bhajans werefollowed by a classical danceperformance by students of B. Com CS.The day ended with a symphonyperformed by students of Bio-Chem, Bio-tech and BA English.

The fourth day began with LalithaSahasranamam followed by a musical rendition by Prof. S. Subramaniyan. After the musicalrendition, there was a classical dance performance by students of B.Com Honours. This wasfollowed by Vocals and instrumental performance by studets of B.Com A/F, B.Com M/M andB.Com F/T. The day ended with a Muthukkal Pattu performed by Dr. Chellapilai and team.

The final day began with Upanishad Parayanam followed by a classical dance performance bystudents of BA English and Bio-Chemistry. There was a vocal performance by Prof. P.Satyanarayanan followed by Bhajans from students of Bio-Chem. The final day of the Navaratricelebration ended with a symphony by students of MCA, Mathematics, B.Com CS and Chemistry.

Marghazhimahotsav 2020

Marghazhi Utsav is a celebration of the auspicious month of December. This was celebrated during3rd and 4th of January from 4:00 PM to 6:00PM on each day. The entrance of the auditorium and thestage were decorated in a way to represent the Brindhavan Gardens.

On the first day, the college’s very own staff from B.com honors began the celebration with amusical performance. He performed six beautiful songs mesmerizing the audience.

Later, the dance team of ShrinathFine Arts along with the guestperformer Ms. Sri Latha, analumnus of the college depictedthe life of Krishna as well as“Krishna Leela” through adelightful dance drama. The day ended with a sereneperformance by the reputedclassical Vocalist Ms. LakshmiPriya.

On the second day, the celebrationbegan with a classical musicalperformance by the college team –“V-Major”. This was followed byanother musical performance bythe college’s very own alumnusKeyboard Satya. Mr. Satyacovered many famous classicalsongs through his keyboard.

The celebration ended withthe principal and the secretaryfelicitating the guestperformers, Ms.Srilatha,Mr.Satya and Ms.LakshmiPriya.

Krishikara Utsav 2020

Krishikara Utsav was a huge celebration held on 8th January, 2020 at DGVC in lieu of the Pongalfestival. The open ground hosted many cultural events. Pongal is celebrated in many names throughout India. To depict that, there were three stages setup on the ground to represent Punjab, Rajasthanand Gujarat. These states celebrate harvesting festival like Pongal in different names.

The chief guest Padma Bhushan Smt. Rajashree Birla arrived at 9:00 AM and was welcomed withAarti and pooja at the college temple. She then proceeded to move towards the ground to observethe many cultural events.

She visited the stage of Rajasthan, where she was welcomed with a traditional Rajasthani folk danceperformed by the dancers of Shrinath Fine Arts and was provided delectable Rajasthani sweets.

She then visited the stage ofPunjab, where she was metwith the students of ShrinathFine arts who provided herwith some traditional Punjabisweets and Lassi.

The dancers of Shirnath Finearts then performed a up-beatPunjabi dance for the chiefguest.

And at the last Gujarati stage,the chief guest was givenbuttermilk and traditionalGujarati sweets. The shrinathfine arts dancers performed atradional gujarati dance for thechief guest.

This visit to the Goshala enabled the students to understand the operations of an organizationwhich works for the well-being and the betterment of the animals. The preparations of thevisit helped the students to understand the details about various types of cow feed. Theexperience was an eye opener for the group as the managing director of the institute spoke tothe students about various aspects of the Goshala. This visit would make the studentsresponsible and help them extend a helping hand towards a better India.

Detailed Report

Srinath Fine Arts, a cultural arm of DG Vaishnav College organized “KAMDHENU – ONE DAYVISIT TO GOSHALA” to the Indian Institute of Animal Welfare, Uthukkotai Taluk, Katchur, TamilNadu – 602026 on 13/12/2020, Sunday. This visit was initiated by the Secretary of the institution,Shri Ashok Kumar Mundra and the Principal Dr. Capt. Santhosh Baboo. S. The event was organizedand managed by the Convenor of Srinath Fine Arts, Prof Mandira Dutta. Goshala has under its caremore than 700 cows and 100 other destitute animals. The students assembled at college at 7:30am from where the journey began. The students wereasked to bring a consent letter signed by their parents. This was adopted by the institute as aprecautionary measure. The organizers also made sure that each student is given a pair of glovesand two pairs of masks for the activity. Once the students reached the destination, the cow feedwhich included 200kgs of banana, 170 kgs of tomato, 100kgs of wheat and 50kgs of jaggery werefed to the cows. Additionally, the students volunteered to bring food materials from their houses tofeed the cows. The students understood the various methodologies to feed the cows. A separatesection was allocated to the calves who are taken care of with special care. It was noted that thecalves were given adequate milk from their mothers before the milk is taken for sale. It was alsonoted that the organization is extremely particular about the quality of the feed. The entire team ofSrinath fine Arts were trained to follow certain precautions before feeding the cows. The entireprocess went on for half a day.

The main purpose of visit was to educate the students about the milch animals as well as thebenefits of dairy products. Students also learnt the traditional uses and benefits of cow dung andcow urine. They also learned how injured and sick cattle are tended to. An entire process ofpreparing and storing fodder for the cows was also demonstrated to the students.The event was sponsored by DG Vaishnav. Students fed the cows with wheat, jaggery, corn,bananas. With active participation from the Principal himself, college students found a renewedsense of participative engagement. Principal encouraged the students with his presence as well asguiding and encouraging the students to take this initiative to the next level. Dr. Sadhna Rao, themanaging director of the institute also shared her experience of over 15 years in caring for theanimals at the Goshala.
