SPP/SSP,” by French• “Erosive Burning Study Utilizing Ultrasonic Measurement

• Evaluated for technical content, originality, practical application, and style/format

Undergraduate/Graduate? Involvement

• Reno/HSV– How do we develop and/or acknowledge undergraduate

involvement?• Encourage undergraduates to pursue SRM’s as a profession

–What is the stimulation? Money, recognition, and travel!

• Plan– Best national student paper – need helpers…!!!!

• Use SRTC monies to support…–Projects, travel, etc.

• Flashy AIAA certificate/plaque/??• $$$$ award

–$500 First Place and $250 Second Place

• Spotlight at the JPC–Travel expenses paid plus recognition at the awards banquet for

the First Place winner

• Contact National for additional guidance–Stephen Brock, Student Programs Director

Undergraduate/Graduate? Involvement (cont)

• Contacted Stephen Brock by Email (Dec. 3, 2003)– Questions asked…

• How do we format our plan/award and advertise our call for papers and reach all active/interested students?

–Stephen has some concerns about a separate award (vs. Best Student Paper)

• Competition issues – need to formally speak to Stephen (not able to touch base in Dec 2003)

–Worried his staff will have to review papers

• Solution - SRTC will review the papers

– Will assist in distributing announcement materials to notify students of the opportunity

–Add advertising and promotional materials to the student conference paraphernalia

• AIAA Student Journal On-Line and the Faculty Newsletter

– Actions: Speak with Stephen to work out details and work on a consensus for the call for papers advertising design
