EASTER SUNDAY APRIL 1, 2018

Dear Parishioners,

Alleluia!

From the dawn of creation to the announcement of

the new creation made to the women at the tomb, we have

had the opportunity to see the goodness and glory of God

all around us. We may be amazed or even afraid at the

sight, as Mary Magdalene, Salome, and Mary were. We

may be overcome, as the famous mystic Thomas Merton

was at his awakening. He writes; “In Louisville, at the

corner of Fourth and Walnut, in the center of the shopping district, I was suddenly overwhelmed with the

realization that I loved all those people, that they were mine and I theirs, that we could not be alien to one

another even though we were total strangers. It was like walking from a dream of separateness… This

sense of liberation from an illusory difference was such a relief and such a joy to me that I almost laughed

out loud.” Jesus’ promise is fulfilled. Every day. All around. “You will see him, as he told you.”

Prayer

Risen Lord, we look with joy upon one another’s faces. We see the glory of creation radiating all around

us. Today, we rest in the wonder of Life.. Amen

God Bless,

Msgr. J. Riccardo

Mahoning Riverside Manor, Mulberry Square,

Sutton Place, Graystone, and Grace Place.

Remember, you must call the rectory (938-

6540) so we will know how many to expect and can determine how early we need to arrive at each location. Please call by Friday at Noon to be put

on the schedule for the following Sunday.

BINGO BLAST Home & School is sponsoring a “Bingo Blast” next Sunday, April 8th, in Wienker Hall. Doors open at 12:00 Noon.

A light lunch will be served at 12:15pm and Bingo games start at 1:00pm. Cost is $15.00 and includes bingo and lunch. Several vendors will have displays set up. Everyone welcome! Please plan to join us for an afternoon of fun. It’s sure to be a great time! Benefits SSCD School.

FIRST FRIDAY

Friday of this week, April 6, is the first Friday of the month. Holy Communion will be taken to the sick in their homes during the week. If you would need someone to visit you at home, please call the office by Wednesday, 938-

6540. Confessions for the First Friday will be on Thursday following the 8am Mass. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

There will be Adoration on Friday beginning after the 9am Mass and closing at 4pm. Our special intention for this month will be for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Special devotions will be held throughout the day. Please plan to come spend some time in adoration of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament on First Friday. Sign-up sheets are posted in church.

4th ANNUAL FISHING CHARTER GIVEAWAY - Sponsored by K of C The K of C are again sponsoring a Fishing Charter Giveaway! There will be 5 lucky winners based on the PA Lottery Pick 3 number drawn at 7pm on August 13th through August 17th, 2018. Each winner will receive a Lake Erie Walleye Charter for 5 plus $250 cash! Dates of the trips will be

September 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.

Cost of the ticket is just $20 and gives you 10 chances to win! For information or to purchase a ticket, contact Chris Lento at 939-9263. Tickets are also available in the rectory office.

FAMILY PERSPECTIVE That first Easter morning was confusing. Jesus was missing and Mary Magdalene, Peter and John “did not know” what to do. In family life there are confusing moments when “we don’t know” what to do. Like the apostles, we are Easter people when we believe and trust in each other even when all seems lost.

This fun evening will include a live auction, a silent auction and a basket auction; there will be many great items to bid on - something for everyone! We will be reading “The

Holy Longing” by Ronald Rolheiser for our April meeting. This book is published by Doubleday and can be purchased new or used at Amazon.com. On

the flyleaf of the book we read: “This book is for those searching to understand what Christian spirituality means and how to apply it to their own life…At the core of this very readable, deeply revealing book is an explanation of God and the Church in a world that more often than not doubts the credibility of both.”

Our meeting will be held on Thursday, April 19th at 6:30pm in the Meeting Room. All are welcome to come and discuss this book.
