DerbisolarTwo Layer Cold-Applied Reflective Bituminous Warm Roof

When to Specify Derbisolar two layer, cold applied, high performance warm roof systems with integral amorphous silicon (a-Si) photovoltaic panels offer the highest levels of durability and waterproof integrity whilst employing the flat roof space to passively generate electricity. Derbisolar’s high reflectivity significantly increases the efficiency of the adjacent PV panels by reducing the localised ambient temperature.

Warranties Alumasc offers a comprehensive range of warranty options. The typical warrant period for Derbisolar is 20 years. Installed exclusively by Derbigum Approved Contractors and underpinned by Alumasc’s extensive project support service, Alumasc warranties cover both product and installation. Independent insurance backed latent product defect warranties are also available through FSA licensed brokers.

Key FeaturesPower GenerationDerbisolar facilitates the passive generation of electricity by fully adhered thin film photovoltaic panels, connected to the mains via an inverter. Surplus energy can be fed into the electricity grid, attracting a fixed rate return according to the prevailing feed-in-tariff rate. The system is lightweight at approximately 10kg/m2 (including the Derbisolar membrane).

DurabilityDerbisolar has a high softening point ensuring stability of the membrane in the hottest weather, high tensile strength and excellent puncture resistance. The integral acrylic coating will last as long as 3 layers of ceramic paint.

PerformanceDerbisolar PV panels will achieve a minimum of 92% of the design power output after 10 years, and 84% after 20 years. The a-Si PV panels comply with IEC 61646 and IEC 61730 (International electrotechnical commission). Derbisolar will last at least 30 years (as with all Derbigum roofs) as less heat absorbed means less aging.

SustainabilityDerbisolar has no impact on the pH level of water run-off, and is therefore ideal for collection of rainwater. The membrane is 100% recyclable. With solar reflectivity of greater than 70%, any exposed area of Derbisolar reduces carbon emissions through passive energy saving.

QualityAlumasc operates a quality assurance management system which is independently audited to BS EN ISO 9001:2008. Alumasc extends this quality management to their network of approved installers, for single source accountability and peace of mind.

DerbisolarTwo Layer Cold-Applied Reflective Bituminous Warm Roof

Application1. Prime the profiled metal deck with Euroroof Contact Adhesive and allow

to fully dry.

2. Apply the Euroroof Self-Adhesive Vapour Barrier Plus to the crowns of the deck, providing edge protection to the insulation board at all perimeters, openings and projections, with 75mm side laps and 100mm end laps.

3. Install Alumasc FF Polyisocyanurate insulation bonded in Alumasc PU insulation adhesive. Boards must be tightly butt jointed and staggered.

4. Prime insulation board with Euroroof Contact Adhesive and allow to dry.

5. Install Derbicoat HP Selfix Self-Adhesive underlay with 100mm side and 150mm end laps.

6. Install Derbisolar Cap sheet, fully bonded in Derbibond cold adhesive, applied evenly by squeegee or spray gun. For optimum speed of installation, use the specialist block bonding pattern.

7. Note: Pre-cut the lower corner of the end of each roll at 45º where it will be overlapped by the end lap of the next roll.

8. Seal side laps (100mm) end laps (150mm) with a shoe burner torch. All laps must be pressure rolled with a 15kg long handled roller. A small (approx 5-10mm) continuous bead of compound must always visible at the joint.

9. All detail work to be executed in Derbibrite (standard white reflective membrane, for detail work only), fully bonded by torching. At all upstands install a 100 x 100mm reinforcement strip of Derbigum Black into the angle. The main sheet area must overlap onto the reinforcing strip by the full 100mm. Install a final flashing piece of Derbibrite, fully bonded to the upstand and overlapping onto the main horizontal sheet area by a minimum of 100mm.

10. Install Unisolar PV laminate panels by self-adhesion to the Derbisolar membrane (which must be clean, dry and free from dust and debris) and connect to mains via an inverter and meter.

NB: Roof slope for Derbisolar PV systems must be a minimum of 3º, maximum 60º

Derbisolar waterproofing systems are exclusively installed by a nationwide network of Derbigum Approved Contractors. Photovoltaic systems must be installed and commissioned by a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited installer.
