Inaugural Function of ACE and Fresher’s Day.

Inaugural function of Association of Civil engineering students (ACES) and welcome

function to third semester engineering students was conducted on 3rd September 2015 in

seminar hall at S G Balekundri Institute of Technology Belagavi.

Executive Engineer PRE Division Belagavi Shri. L C Ganiger was chief guest.

Dr.B.R.Patagundi, HOD of Civil Department welcomed the gathering.

Prof.G.V Donurmath,staff cooridinator of civil department gave a brief review of proposed

activities under ACES.

Er. L C Ganiger shared the challenges and opportunities in the projects undertaken by

Karnataka government.

Dr.S.S.Salimath, Principal of SGBIT Belagavi, stressed the need of dedication, integrity and

commitment to be developed among budding civil engineers.

Ms. Smita Lad proposed vote of thanks.

Industrial visits

Industrial tour was arranged for III semester students on 27/08/15 & 04/09/2015 to study

about engineering properties of rare rocks. Students along with Prof Neha P & Prof. Sujata S

visited Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Museum GSS College Belagavi. Prof Neha P and Prof.

Pramod H explained about geological demo models, groups of different rocks, minerals &

crystallography.

Students of III semester Civil Engg Dept during Industrial Visit.

Industrial tour was arranged for VII semester students on 14/10/15 to study about steel

structures. Students along with Prof Vijaykumar S, Prof. Girish H & Prof. Vidyashree H

visited Kapeel Founders, Navage site to know about the Pre Engineered Building structures.

Prof Sagar B explained about the steel structures especially about connections, types of

sections, gusseted bases, structural design concepts etc.

Industrial tour was arranged for V and VII semester students on 30/10/15 to study about

processes involved in Ready Mix Concrete. Students along with Prof Sagar B, Prof. A.

Amarnath , Prof. Santosh B C, Prof. Akshata M & Prof. Deepa H visited Balaji RMC

plant Halga. Mr.Arun Mohite (Plant Manager) explained about batching, mixing, use of

various admixtures & transporting concrete.

Swacha Bharat Abhiyan

Swacha Bharat Abhiyan was organized by Civil Engineering Department under NSS cell by

Prof. Rahul B, Prof. Girish H, Saiprasad S & Sharada B on 01/10/2015. The program was

inaugurated by Dr. S. S. Salimath Principal S.G.B.I.T., Dr. B.R. Patagundi- HOD Civil

Department , Dr. U.C. Kapale-Dean & HOD Mechanical Department, NSS coordinators and

students of various departments actively participated in the program.

Art of living

Art of living was organized by Civil Engineering Department. Dr. Deepali Patil gave

knowledge about key to success, development of soft skills.

Rally on Cracker free Deepawali

Rally on Cracker free Deepawali was organized by V.T.U Belagavi on 09/11/2015, under the

presence of Dr. Maheshappa, Vice chancellor VTU, Dr. Shekharappa, Registrar(Evaluation)

VTU, Dr. S.S. Salimath, Principal SGBIT, & NSS Co-ordinator Prof. Rahul R.B Dept. of

Civil Engineering were participated in the rally.
