Using Heritage
Use the Enquiry menu to find the books you need
Use the Circulation menu to issue, renew, and return your books
Searching on Heritage
General search
Advanced search(Lets you search for multiple terms and specify where in the record they should appear)

Search terms can be combined in the General search option by using the Boolean operator ‘AND’
Search results
Results screen shows the book’s loan type and availability, and where on the shelf it can be found
Issuing books
Access the circulation menu by following the steps shown above
Issuing books
• Enter your surname and PIN as shown
• ‘Change PIN’ option is available on the following screen if you want to reset your PIN
Issuing books
• Scan the book’s barcode (at the bottom of the book’s front page) with the handheld scanner.
• The book is added to your list of loans, with the date it is due back being shown.

When you have finished scanning all the books you want to borrow, click ‘Back’ to exit your record.
Renewing books
• Scan or type in the barcodes of individual items
• To renew everything you have on loan, click on ‘Renew all’
Returning books
• Select ‘Return’ from the Circulation Functions menu
• You do not need to log in to return books
• Scan the barcodes of the books you wish to return
• Unless an item has been reserved, please reshelve the books in the appropriate place.
Reserving books
If the book you want is on loan, you can place a reservation so that it is held for you when the current borrower returns it.
Reserving books
• Click on the title of the book to see the detailed record and the reservation button
• Click on ‘Reserve’ and enter your surname and PIN when prompted, then click ‘Continue’
• You will be notified when the book is available for you to borrow.
Problems?
Heritage should always be running on the library PC; if it is not, start it up and enter the username CIRC (no password required)
If Heritage is not working, or the book you wish to borrow has not been catalogued, please record your loans in the notebook provided: Your name The date Author, title and barcode of the book
Accessing Heritage away from the library
Full catalogue (with circulation functions) is only available in the library itself
