The women’s Precept class will begin a study of part 2 of the book of Revelation September 4September 4September 4September 4. It is a 12 week class, “Unveiling the Book of Revelation.” Workbooks will be $30. The book of Revela-tion offers a blessing to those who read it, who hear it, and who heed the things which are written in it. It will give you the same hope and encouragement that the early believers received as its message was read in the churches, the hope that brings an expectancy of the Lord’s return that pulls us above the pull of the world. Purviance They have a new baby girl. She was born (8/22) Wednesday morning at 9:30 am. She weighed 8 lbs. and 1oz. She was 20 ½”. Her name is Harmony Hope Purviance Dad, Mom, big sisters and baby are doing well.

With delight, Dave Thomas has agreed to share this story of answered prayer: Joyce and I have been given the great pleasure and responsibility of taking care of our 4 year old great grandson, Benny, while his mother is gone on an Alaskan cruise with other family members. To make Benny's stay more enjoyable and exciting, I took Benny to the kids fishing pond at Carrie Blake Park. He loves to fish, even when he doesn't catch any fish. I know that the pond was stocked with trout in April. Before going I prayed that if there was just one trout left in the pond that the Lord would allow Benny to catch it. Benny was really excited about

going fishing. When we arrived there, I put a lure and bait on his hook. On his 2nd successful cast, his bobber immedi-ately disappeared under the water. I told Benny to reel. He did and in came a huge trout that I netted and weighed. It weighed 3 lbs. 15 oz. and was 21 inches long! What a thrill! I only expected a small fish but our God blessed Benny "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine". (Ephesians 3:20) How great is our God!

Gaunt buffalos flaunted their holy status by ambling in front of rickshaw traffic. Arching palms cordoned lime-green rice paddies from a freshwater shrimp pond. In the center of it all, a purple and red tent fluttered over hundreds of Christians in Andhra Pradesh, India. Dani noted that during all our time in India she never saw duplica-tion between saris, and this day, the ladies did not hold back on their vermilion, lemon-yellow, and electric-blue. Worship music pulsed through the air with the shrill rattle of metallic shakers and the “thromb-thromb” of a lap drum.

“You, and not the many shrines around you, are the temples of God.” As I spoke, the Holy Spirit ignited the crowd.

At the invitation, the entire congregation pressed forward to dedicate themselves wholly—body, mind, and spirit—to the purposes of God. Tears ran as worshipers pressed up on their toes and mouthed urgent prayers of repentance and commitment. There is nothing so pure, so alive, so attractive as a repentant heart, and here were hundreds.

Repentance snaps a whip overhead that purges my temple of pride. It drives out the rabble of self-centeredness and hard heartedness to leave me cleansed, quiet and sacred again. It is into this space that the Spirit of Jesus rushes.

Humility, not great features, and brokenness, not firm skin, are the marks of true beauty. The repentant heart is an irresistible attraction to heaven and its jubilant ranks of angels. The human that will admit wrongdoing and voluntarily lay down his claim on temporal life is such a rare treasure that Yahweh ranges the earth, seeking out these precious ones, and when He finds them He jealously gathers, protects and celebrates them. I know He found plenty in India that day.
