SCHOOL OFFICE
Dear Parishioners,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank May Hembrador for her dedicated ministry to St. Agnes for the past 16 years. Her commitment to the music ministry has left a lasting mark on each of us. She has helped the community “to make some joyful noise” all these years. We thank her for touching our lives in such a positive and meaningful way. She will be greatly missed. Now, a new phase of her life is beginning. We sincerely wish her a happy and fulfilling retirement.
I would also like to welcome Peter Frevele as our new Music Director. Peter has been a cantor and an active member of our community for many years. We are excited that he has accepted to take up this position as the leader of this ministry. We assure him of our support and prayers.
By now you will have noticed a new statue of St. Agnes at the back of the church. It is made possible by the generosity of the Encarnacion Family. The community of St. Agnes is grateful to them for their generosity and support.
Last week Bishop Michael Barber wrote: “As the loss of life and property mounts due to the wildfires north of our Diocese, our hearts ache for our sisters and brothers in the Santa Rosa Diocese. Please join with me in praying for the dead and for those who are suffering, whether from physical injury or from the loss of their homes and livelihoods. We also pray for the firefighters, medical personnel, social workers and others who are aiding the victims and their loved ones.”
“I have spoken with Bishop Robert Vasa, the bishop of Santa Rosa. He is grateful for our prayers, and is providing regular updates on his website: http://srdiocese.org/signofhope. He is encouraging everyone to participate in a holy hour of adoration to pray for those affected and for the fires to subside. I ask all parishes to consider a special collection for the victims of the fires. Please select a weekend to accommodate your parish’s calendar, and send the money per our usual process for special collections. We will send immediately to the Santa Rosa Diocese.” We will have a special second collection the weekend of November 4/5th for the victims of the fire in the wine country. Let us support them in this effort to rebuild their lives.
Thank you for your generosity.
Blessings,
Fr. Johnson

ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCE ENVELOPES
During the month of November, we remember all of our loved ones who have passed on. You may remember your loved ones in a special way by using your All Souls envelopes, writing their names and placing your gift to the parish inside, and then returning the envelope either to the parish office or placing them in the collection basket. These envelopes, along with the Book of Remembrance, will be placed on the altar throughout the month of November, so that those who have died may be remembered in a special way during the month. More envelopes are available at the Welcome Table or in the vestibules.

INCLUSIVE LOVE Love of our neighbor is included in the love of God. —St. Thomas Aquinas
BALANCE
Today’s scriptures emphasize the fundamental link between love of God and love of our neighbors, especially those who are most in need. Love of God should compel us to love the people whom God cherishes. Conversely, work for justice and charity for those in need should be rooted in our love of God.
That connection and balance, however, isn’t al-ways easy to maintain in our lives. Even in religious orders we find that some Christians are more orient-ed toward contemplation and prayer, while others are more active in reaching out to those who are op-pressed. Today Jesus reminds us of the necessity for both in the life of faith. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
