Bless us as we begin this New Year and endow us with the desire and ability to create a world of peace.

We ask all this, through the intercession of Mary to you, one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Sanctuary of Life This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the

Holy Family. Though He was conceived of

a virgin, Jesus nevertheless lived as a son

in a human family -- a family which points

the way for the rest of us.

The family is the sanctuary of life. There can be no life

without family, and there can be no family without life. The

family, above all, is where life is to be welcomed, no matter

how fragile or inconvenient it may be.

One of the many reasons why the Pope and bishops identify

abortion and euthanasia as pre-eminent issues is because these

crimes are committed by one family member upon another.

May the Holy Family lead us to a Culture of Life!

Special Thanks to all of our parish members that helped

make the season of giving a true blessing!

Sharing Center Donations Your response to our Giving Tree for the Sharing Center and for

Love Inc. was overwhelming and much appreciated. Opening

your hearts has helped so many others in our area have a joyous

Christmas. May God in turn bless you and your families for all

you do for others, not just at this Christmas season, but

    throughout the year.

The Cookie Walk A huge thank you to all our Good Cookies and all of our other

wonderful bakers in our parishes for giving of your time and

talent for our delicious fundraiser. The Cookie Walk was a great

success thanks to the many dozens of beautiful Christmas

cookies to choose from for our patrons. Once again, we received

many compliments on the variety and unique cookies that were

donated. The event raised over $1500! You are all appreciated

and may God bless you and your families this Christmas

season. It is in giving that we receive.

The Christmas Masses Thank you to all who made the Christmas Masses a joyous and

beautiful celebration. Many hands work together to make this

time of year truly miraculous. We appreciate the ministers,

musicians, decorators, and all those who donated time and/or

    treasure.

Faith Formation Thank you to all the Faith Formation families that opened their

hearts and pocketbooks and donated to our Adopt a Family for

the Sharing Center. The classes collected

    $280. Josephine Bienecke and Casey

Christiansen were the elves from the

Confirmation class that donated their time

to shop and help brighten someone else's

Christmas this year. Your generosity will

help others in need; you have made a

difference. Thank you so very much and

may God bless you and your families.

    ST. VINCENT DE PAUL CORNER

Today is the feast of the Holy Family of

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. We hear the

words: “The child grew and became

strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor

    of God was upon him.”

During this New Year may we also grow in wisdom and

have the favor of God upon us by remembering to take

care of our suffering brothers and sisters.

GIVE THEM OUR NUMBER, 262-877-2557 EXT 231

Your gifts of money, goods, and time make a

difference in the lives of others. Thank you for

helping make a difference in the lives of people in our

community. We pray you will continue to support the

mission of St. Vincent de Paul.

Winter Weekend - A Restful Retreat for Young Adults

Take some time to rest, relax, and enjoy being away from your

daily routine. This retreat is an excellent way to explore the

deeper questions of life within a dynamic community of young

adults who are going through the same things you are.

If you have a hunger to know more about Jesus and the Catholic

Church, Winter Weekend is right for you.

    Schoenstatt Retreat Center-Waukesha WI

Friday, January 24th - Sunday, January 26th $95 per person register at brewcitycatholic.com

(Cost includes overnight lodging in a shared room and Saturday

    Breakfast/Lunch/Supper, and Sunday Breakfast)

Pat Vos, Director of Administrative Services

As I begin my steps into retirement I wish to

extend to all of the Parish members of St.

Alphonsus and St. John the Evangelist my

thanks and gratitude. It has been a joy and a

renewal of faith in me as I have worked for

    the good of God’s people.

I have a devoted husband Leroy, and three grown children. We

are grandparents to five (going on six) grandchildren. I look

forward to the time and freedom retirement will bring to allow

me to be truly present with them as they grow up.

I am blessed to have been actively involved in Parish Life for

most of my life. My parents and paternal grandparents were an

integral part of St. Alphonsus as volunteers and so I feel I have

    learned well from them.

I attended grade school at St. Alphonsus and high school at St.

    Mary’s in Burlington (now

    Catholic Central). You do

    not attend a Catholic School

    system without being

    involved in the Church!

I love Parish Life and being

involved in the faith life of

    our Parishes. The community

that surrounds us has been a

    wonderful experience for me.

I have been employed by both parishes for 13-1/2 years, in

addition to 12 years of prior employment at St. Alphonsus. I

taught Faith Formation for 17 years at St. Alphonsus. I am on

various committees in the Parish. I volunteer for many of the

Parish Fundraisers and am both a Lector and Eucharistic

Minister. When my children attended school at St. Alphonsus, I

was involved as a School Board Member, Parish Council

Member and was a Room Mom.

It was a sad day when St. Alphonsus School closed their doors,

but supporting other Catholic School systems should still be one

    of our mantras.

I wish for these two Parishes to flourish! In order to keep all that

makes our Parishes alive and vibrant, it is essential that we

encourage youth participation, have young parent involvement,

and keep a keen awareness that everyone needs to be involved in

the life of the Church. It is up to each of us as individuals to keep

our faith alive in each other!

God Bless! May 2020 hold many blessings for all of you! Pat

Catholic Central High School held its 35th

Annual Topper Dinner and Auction on Satur -

day, December 7th at the Veterans Terrace in

    Burlington. A huge “Thank-You” to this year’s

gold sponsors: Edward Jones, Family Vision,

James and Regan Homan, Lynch Motor Vehicle

Group, Town Bank, and Wisconsin Vision Associates! A

heartfelt “Thank You” also goes out to Trattoria di Carlo and

the Veterans Terrace. With the love and support of our devoted

donors, over 250 guests and a volunteer group of almost 60, the

auction once again was a success!!!
