The Sports Club was formed to cater to various indoor and outdoor activities that involve
physical activity and focus. The Club serves as a source of recreation for the students by
attempting to break the routine of classroom lectures and encouraging physical activity. It
imparts and disciplines the students to maintain health and fitness, enhances team-building skills
and improves cognitive function of thebrain.
At St Anne’s First Grade College for Women, we push our students to participate in various
indoor and outdoor sports. We provide the students an opportunity to excel in sports by
providing them excellent coaching which by and large has brought the college various accolades
and prizes. The college team takes part in various inter-collegiate competitions. It also conducts
many intra-collegiate events to encourage students from various classes to participateand
showcase their skills and talents. It also caters to an ideal ambience for any student who wishes
to pursue their sportsman skills along with academics. In order to make sure our students are fit
physically and emotionally, the college installed the gym facility where students can keep
incheck with their physical health by utilizing the various equipment provided. The sports
committee is committed to promote healthy and balanced lifestyles changes in the present
sedentaryenvironment.
The sports committee members decide on the events to be conducted at the beginning of
the academic year by making a strategic perspective plan and send the same to theIQAC
forapproval.
The students are notified on the dates and events such as indoor and outdoorgames.
Student who wish to participate in the events give their names to the sportssecretary.
To encourage participation the overall championship trophy is given to the class with the
maximum points on the scoreboard.
All the events are conducted under the supervision of the physicalinstructor.

Yoga report for the year 2016-2017
“Inhale, and God approaches you. Hold the inhalation, and God remains with
you. Exhale, and you approach God. Hold the exhalation, and surrender to God.”
Yoga is not only a physical exercise where you twist, turn, stretch, and breathes in
the most complex ways. These are actually only the most superficial aspect of this
profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul. It
leads to the healthy development of mind, body and soul by mastering certain yoga
postures or asanas with breathing techniques.
To encourage yoga practice in college campus, St. Anne’s First Grade College for
Women organized Yoga and meditation session for students to know how yoga
embodies unity of mind and body. These classes acted as opportunities for students
to explore fundamentals aspects of yoga. Yoga is a group of physical , mental,
and spiritual practices or disciplines, yoga is given much importance because of its
principles i.e., a disciplined method for attaining a goal; techniques of controlling
the body and the mind; system of philosophy .
The yoga training for the academic year 2016-2017 commenced on 01st to 08
th
October at D-12 in Commerce block. The Yoga guru Vengal Rao enriched the
students by showing demo of different asanas in a flexible and organised manner.
