From the Pastor’s Desk:

My Dear Parishioners,

I am contacting you through the bulletin, for the last time, as your pastor.

June 30, 2021 is the date that I complete my priestly ministry at St. Anthony Parish,

(which I started on June 29, 2015), and I will return to my home diocese to continue

my priestly ministry there on the same day.

You loved me, you cared for me, you supported me, you encouraged me, you con-

soled me, you tolerated me in my weaknesses and limitations. What else can I ex-

pect from my parishioners? You are the best people I have met in my life. This is the

best parish I have served. I think that I am leaving a portion of my heart with

St. Anthony Parish when I leave here.

I tried to put my heart in whatever I did. My main goal was, and is, to care for my

soul and the souls of everybody entrusted to my pastoral care. Your growth in faith

was my topmost priority in my six-year term at St. Anthony. There were a lot of peo-

ple to assist me, with great love and generosity- the deacons, office staff, different

council members, those in different ministries … to mention some. All of you are

close to my heart. Whenever I pray the rosary, the fifth decade covers all of you, the

parishioners I currently serve – both the living and the dead, and my former parish-

ioners throughout my priestly ministry – both the living and the dead-, especially

who are/were my immediate coworkers in different levels.

Whatever good things I did at St. Anthony, I thank the Lord for that, because it is He

who did, and I was just his humble instrument. He did everything through me. For

wherever and whenever I failed to do good or did something wrong, I take the full

responsibility, and I ask God to have mercy on me, pardon me, and I ask you to be

kind to me and forgive me. These are the only two words remaining in my heart for

you: “Thank You.”

There is only one request for you “please keep me in your prayers”, so that I may

grow in goodness and holiness, and when it is time for me to face our Loving God,

when my soul leaves my body, I may hear the words of Jesus, “my good and faithful

servant...” I have miles and miles to go to reach that goal. I want your prayerful sup-

port also. BYE, my dear St. Anthony Parishioners. May God bless you all.

If you would like to contact me in future, my email ID [email protected]. I am active

both in Facebook and WhatsApp, and I plan to continue to do so.

With a loving and grateful heart,

Fr. Joseph Varickamackal
