COME ONE, COME ALL!!

In today’s Gospel, the people ask: “How is it such miraculous deeds are accomplished

By His hands?” Because of your gifts to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul many “miraculous deeds” are ac-complished for the needy. This week put a gift in the collection box or in the St. Vincent de Paul poor box in the back of the church, and/or make a donation of food knowing that through

your kindness someone who is in need will be touched by God in a miraculous way. If you have any questions about needing assistance or want to become a member of St. Vincent de Paul leave your name and number on the office phone 815-469-3750 x114. Did you know that through your donations we…

Give away FREE clothing, furniture and housewares

to needy families every day.

Provide financial assistance for those in need.

Feed the hungry through various food pantries.

Disaster relief.

Purchase medicine for families.

Provide jobs and training.

Did you also know that…

Your donations help families right here in our com-

munity!

The St. Vincent DePaul Thrift stores provide good

quality clothing at low prices so needy families can

shop with dignity.

Bargains for all at the St. Vincent Thrift Shop

Thank you for helping us help others!

Top 10 Reasons to Become a Catechist/Aide…

#6: You become an active part of the most active part of your parish. One criticism of Catholic churches is that they don’t offer as much

“fellowship” as some others. When you join the Catechists in your parish,

you enter into a community that will support you on your faith journey, pray

for and with you and encourage you in your Catholic way of life.

OBSTACLES

The prophet Ezekiel, Saint Paul, and the Lord Jesus

share something in common in today’s scripture

readings. They all experience obstacles to their

ministry. Ezekiel is summoned to prophesy to the

Israelites, who are “[h]ard of face and obstinate of

heart” (Ezekiel 2:4). Saint Paul recounts how he has

been given a “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7).

The Lord Jesus is unable to perform many signs in his

native place. The Gospel tells us that “[he] was amazed

at their lack of faith” (Mark 6:6). We too sometimes

encounter obstacles as we travel along the journey of

faith. So often we experience weakness on this

journey. Let the words of the Lord to Saint Paul

encourage us today: “My grace is sufficient for you,

for power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians

12:9). Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
