Help Your Child Stay at a Healthy Weight

Today, about 2 in 3 adults and about 1 in 3

children are overweight or obese!

Why do I need to worry about my child's weight?

Being overweight or obese as a child can lead to serious problems like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, sleep problems, low

self-esteem, and getting bullied. Being overweight as a child increases the risk of being overweight or obese as an adolescent

and young adult.

What can I do to help my child stay at a healthy weight? Two of the best ways to prevent your child from becoming

overweight or obese are to: 1) Help your child eat healthier foods and 2) Be more physically active as a family. Start by buying more vegetables, fruits, and whole grain foods. Make sure to sit at the table and eat together as a family. Make sure your child gets at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. It doesn't have to be 60 minutes all at once-it can be shorter activities that add up to an hour a day. Fun and simple activities like playing tag, dancing,

skipping, jump rope, climbing playground equipment, or playing basketball are all great ways to achieve this.

You are a role model.

Parents are often the most important role models for children. When you choose to eat right and be physically active, your child will be more likely to make those choices too. So let's

start making healthy choices and become active together.

Second Collection for Archdiocese for Military Services The Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) was

established by Saint John Paul II in 1985 to provide the Catholic Church's full range of pastoral ministries to those in the United

States Armed Forces. The mission of the Archdiocese is to 'serve those who serve,' to be Americans bearing peace; to proclaim

Christ all over the world; and to carry out the mission of the Church to offer healing through the forgiveness of sins.

The ministry of the AMS is to provide the same pastoral care and services as any other Catholic diocese to Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans

Affairs' Medical Centers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, and the families of these populations. Programs and

services vital to the unique mission and ministry of the Archdiocese include Vocations, Evangelization and Catechesis, Sacramental

Records, Tribunal, and Veterans Affairs. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops first approved

the special triennial collection for the AMS in November 2012. The 2016 National Collection will be taken in dioceses and parishes

across the country in 2016, for most at Masses the weekend of 5-6 November. A list of participating dioceses and additional

resources may be found on the AMS National Collection web page at www.milarch.org/nationalcollection.

ASSEMBLY 1833

RENSSELAER, INDIANA 47978

The Color Corps of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree is in full regalia to honor the Sir Knights who are no longer with us.

The Strength of Nations Depends upon Strength of Character

For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve our fellow man. That’s what the Knights of Columbus is all about.

Proudly Serving the Country

Fourth Degree Knights glorify God by serving our communities and nation as though Christ were the one being served. Knights foster patriotism by teaching personal responsibility in civic affairs, working to honor and protect symbols of national pride, honoring veterans for their service and sacrifice.

Unwavering in Support of the Faith

Fourth Degree Knights hold unwaveringly to what is right and honorable. This means working to keep God in the civic arena. It means supporting and defending laws that recognize the sanctity of life and true religious liberty. And, of course, serving the life of the Church. Fourth Degree Knights are committed to building lives of character.

Honoring the Legacy of Knighthood

The Color Corps is an elective division of the Fourth Degree, whose distinctive presence at public ceremonies, and Catholic functions is a visible reminder of our service to the community. Color Corps members wear the colors with pride and hon-or, knowing they represent the very best of the Knights of Columbus.
