1.6 During OperationThe person in charge must:
• provide the operator with a copy of theOperating Instructions.
• ensure that the operator has read andunderstood the instructions.
1.7 Servicing &MaintenanceEnsure that regular checks and inspectionsare always carried out within the periodsrequired by law or specified in theseOperating Instructions.
Prior to performing maintenance andservicing work, ensure that the machine ispositioned on solid, level ground and is secureand stable.
Before cleaning the unit with water, steam jets(high-pressure cleaning apparatus) or othercleaning agents, cover all openings intowhich, for reasons of safety or operation, nowater, steam or cleaning agents are topenetrate.
When carrying out servicing and maintenancework, retighten any loose screw connections.

Transportation & Installation
2.3 InstallationWhen carrying out installation andmaintenance work there is a higher risk ofinjury. It is important that you familiariseyourself with the component and read theOperating Instructions beforehand.
2. Transportation andInstallationTransportation and initial installation of themachine are described in this chapter.
2.1 DeliveryThe Toolbar unit is normally delivered, fullyassembled, on a (low-bed) truck.
The machine can be lifted off with a crane,fork-lift truck, or other suitable liftingequipment.
When doing so, the weight, the centre ofgravity and the attachment points on the unitare to be taken into account.
Depending on the lifting gear, attachment isonly to be at appropriate points on the frame.
2.2 TransportationThe ST-Bar unit must be lifted clear of theground for road transport.
2.4 Connecting the ST-Barto the Mounted X-Press1. Attach the parking stands to the X-Press
(see Fig. 3.03 on page 14 and Pages26-30 for details).
2. The Mounted X-Press should be parkedon a firm, level surface using all fourparking stands.
3. Attach the ST-Bar to the tractor usingthe link pins provided with the MountedX-Press.
4. Using pins, fit the balls to the X-Presslower links (see Items 13 & 14 on Pages18 & 20 and Items 14 & 16 on Page22).
5. With the Toolbar attached to the tractor, align the rear linkage of the Toolbar withthe linkage of the Mounted X-Press. Therear parking stands and/or roll height ofthe X-Press can be used to level themachine enabling easier linkage.Engage the balls in the hooks on theLower links of the X-Press.
6. Fit the Toplink Adjuster on the Toolbarto the X-Press upper link.

3.1 Description
The SIMBA ST-Bar is designed to be used inconjunction with a 2.5m, 3m or 4m MountedX-Press. The Toolbar provides effective tinecultivation ahead of the disc blades of the X-Press.
Terra-Grip tines have a robust, basicconstruction and are suitable for all soil types.
The spring-loaded auto-reset system with a500kg trip force on each tine prevents damageto the tines and tine brackets.
When the auto reset system is activated aninitial progressive phase holds the tine in the
ground in a steady position until the trip pointis reached. In the subsequent springcompression phase the tine is raised gentlyand rapidly to a maxmum height of 230mm.
The tines can be fitted with a selection of pointsdepending on application and have 6 depthsettings in 25mm increments.
The clip-on points are attached to the tine witha quick release mechanism. A wedgeshaped bracket is bolted on to the tine and ahammer is used to force the coulter on/off thetaper using the removal tool provided todisengage the quick release system.
The quick release mechanism makes itpossible to change the points quickly andeasily without having to use any other tools. The quick release system consists of awedge, plunger and a rubber spring.

3.2 Work InstructionsTurning:
The ST-Bar (and Mounted X-Press)should be lifted out of work whileturning.
3.3 ChecksThe working quality depends on theadjustments and checks made prior to andduring work, as well as on regular servicingand maintenance of the component.
Before beginning work it is thereforeimportant to carry out any necessary servicingrequired.
Working Elements• Are the Terra-Grip Tines in good workingorder?
Adjustment / Operation
3.4 ParkingWhen attached to the Mounted X-Press themachine should be parked resting on theparking stands and the Terra-Grip tines. Withthe machine raised the rear parking standson the X-Press should be moved into theparking position. The machine can now belowered onto the tines and stands (see Fig.3.02 below).
When detached, the ST-Bar should be parkedresting on its parking stands and the Terra-Grip tines for stability and the X-Press canbe parked using its front and rear parkingstands (see Fig. 3.03).
3.5 AdjustmentThere are several ways to adjust the ST-Barin order to get the best results. See Fig. 3.04below.
The main depth of the combined machines(Toolbar & X-Press) is governed by the rearroll of the X-Press. The tine depth is controlledby adjusting the tine leg (C). However agreater degree of tine settings can beattained by utilising the linkage between theToolbar and the X-Press (A & B). Forinstance, if the lower link (B) is placed in theupper hole on the X-Press linkage it will createa shallower working range for the tines.Alternatively, placed in the lower hole on theX-Press linkage, a deeper working range isachieved. The toplink adjuster (A) can beused to alter the pitch between the Toolbarand X-Press if desired.

4. Servicing andMaintenance
Follow the safety instructions forservicing and maintenance.
4.1 ServicingYour ST-Bar unit has been designed andconstructed for maximum performance, operational efficiency and operatorfriendliness under a wide variety of operatingconditions.
Prior to delivery, your Toolbar unit has beenchecked at the factory and by your authoriseddealer to ensure that you receive it in optimumcondition.
To ensure trouble-free operation, it isimportant that servicing and maintenancework is performed at the recommendedintervals.
When changing points on Terra-Grip tines extreme care should betaken. Wear goggles at all timeswhen changing tine points.
4.2 CleaningIn order to ensure that the Toolbar is alwaysin operating condition and to achieveoptimum performance, perform the cleaningand servicing work at regular intervals.
4.3 Storage / ParkingIn order to avoid damage as a result ofmoisture, the machine should be parked, ifpossible, indoors or under cover.
Servicing and Maintenance
4.5 Maintenance IntervalsApart from daily maintenance, themaintenance intervals are based on thenumber of operating hours and time data.
Keep a record of your operatinghours to ensure that the specifiedmaintenance intervals are adheredto as closely as possible.
