What is a Healing Mass? At a St. Bart’s healing Mass, the Sacrament of

Anointing of the Sick is celebrated after the homily. After Mass, we provide trained prayer teams to pray

for the individual needs of those not receiving the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

Prayer, Service, and Sacrificial Giving

Christian Stewardship: A reflection in four parts (4) Offer our enriched gifts to the Glory of God with humility.

The Father has always given talents to his children. God gave Adam the abilities needed to care for the Garden of Eden, and it is often this metaphor of gardening that is used to explain Christian Stewardship.

Putting in store The gifts that we have received from God are to be propagated by us for the Glory of God, returning the enriched gifts to God as an offering in thanks to Him. It is important that we always remember that our talents are God-given; we acknowledge that we are the servant to all those we serve through these talents. We must humbly use these gifts for good.

His master said to him, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.” -Matthew 25:21 (NABRE)

Steve Cox

~Mateo 25, 21 Por Steve Cox

FAMILIARIS CONSORTIO ~ THE ROLE OF THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY IN THE MODERN WORLD (APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION of his Holiness, Pope John Paul II, issued November 22, 1981)

Please Note: Condensed from St. Paul Editions

Part Two

THE PLAN OF GOD FOR MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY

Jesus Christ, Bridegroom of the Church, and the Sacrament of the Matrimony

Jesus Christ reveals the original truth of marriage, the truth of the “beginning”. He makes man capable of realizing this truth in its entirety. This revelation reaches its definitive fullness in the gift of love, the Incarnation, and then, in the sacrifice of Himself on the Cross for his bride, the Church. The marriage of baptized persons becomes a real symbol of that new and eternal covenant sanctioned in the blood of Christ. Conjugal love reaches the fullness to which it is ordained, conjugal charity. In this way spouses participate in and are called to live the very charity of Christ who gave himself on the Cross. Here the Holy Father quotes Tertulian, an ancient Father of the Church, (c.160 AD in Carthage) as he so well expressed the greatness of this conjugal life in Christ. “How can I ever express the happiness of the marriage that is joined together in the Church! How wonderful the bond between two believers, with a single hope, a single desire, a single observance! ...They are truly two in one flesh, and where the flesh is one, one is the spirit.” Meditating faithfully on the word of God, the Church has solemnly taught, and continues to teach, that the marriage of the baptized is one of the seven sacraments of the New Covenant. By means of Baptism, man and woman are placed within the new and eternal covenant. Because of this indestructible insertion, the intimate community of conjugal life and love, founded by the Creator, is elevated and assumed into the spousal charity of Christ. Their belonging to each other is the real representation, by means of the sacramental sign, of the very relationship of Christ with the Church. Spouses are therefore the permanent reminder to the Church of what happened on the Cross: namely, that they are, for one another and for their children, witnesses to the salvation in which the sacrament makes them sharers. Like each of the seven sacraments, continues the Pope, so also marriage is a real symbol of the event of salvation in its own way. The spouses participate in it as a couple so that the first and immediate effect of marriage is the Christian conjugal bond, a Christian communion of two persons that represents the mystery of Christ’s incarnation and the mystery of his covenant. Conjugal love involves a totality of all the elements of the person. It aims at a deeply personal unity, the unity that, beyond union in one flesh, leads to forming one heart and soul. It demands indissolubility and faithfulness in definitive mutual giving, ever open to fertility. (cf. Humanae Vitae, 9) This conjugal love makes them the very expression of specifically Christian values.
