poor family in Gascony, France in around 1580.

• In 1596, he was taught in the University of Toulouse.

• He fell into the hands of African pirates and was taken to North-Africa as a slave.

• After being held captive for 2 years he escaped to Rome, Italy and then went back to France.

died in the 1st Century.• She was a friend and

follower of Jesus. • She disobeyed the

guards and wiped Jesus’ face with a cloth when he was carrying the cross.

• The cloth is preserved in the Vatican City, where the Pope lives.

• She is mentioned in the Stations of the Cross.

• Her saints day is the 12th July.

• St Veronica isn’t the patron saint of anything, however, she is remembered for her act of great kindness.
