Catechists Needed
As we begin our planning for the 2015-2016 year, we know we will be needing some new catechists for our growing program. Our children look to us, the adults of the parish, to form them in their budding Catholic Faith.
By committing to becoming a catechist now, particu-larly those who may be unsure of their skills or abili-ties, you can participate in training over the summer to match your vacation and/or work schedule. Train-ing will give you the confidence you need to know that you can do an excellent job. You will have lots of support!
Catechists commit to teaching on Wednesday after-noon from 4:30 to 5:45 PM or Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 PM. In addition to the actual class time, there is preparation time and opportunities for ongoing formation (optional) and catechist meetings (required). For more information, please contact Mary Catherine at the Parish Office: 847-437-6208.

Religious Education Board Forming
We are beginning to create a Religious Educa-tion Board which would help to oversee the many aspects of our Religious Education pro-gram: Curriculum; Development; Finances; Hospitality; and Marketing. All parishioners are asked to prayerfully consider if a role on this Board would be a good use of your talents and skills. Religious Education is the work of the whole parish, not just the work of those who have children in the program. Many of you are retired professionals who could offer the benefit of your experience and knowledge to help us grow the best program possible. To find out more, please contact Mary Catherine. It takes a village, or in this case, a Parish!

Today, we celebrate “Good Shepherd Sunday” where we reflect on Jesus’ love and care for us.
This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to be “Good Shepherds” to the hearts of the poor, by assisting 20 families this Easter Season. God Bless you!
St Vincent de Paul is an emergency source for food and short-term financial help for parishioners and those living within the parish boundaries. Please call 847-437-6208. Requests will be handled with care and confidentiality.

GRIEF SUPPORT FOR ADULTS “No one ever told me that grief felt so much like fear”…
T.S. Eliot
St. Cecilia Ministry of Care and Bereavement will again have a grief support program for adults, “The Healing Jour-ney” which will begin on May 7, 2015. This program is open to adult men and women, parishioners who have suf-fered the loss of a friend or relative through death. The group will meet at 6:30 PM in the Bernardin Room of Church on the following dates:
May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4 and 11 Grief work is hard and it hurts. At times you may feel like you are emotionally out of control, people say you should be “over it by now”, but you’re not; you may be angry, depressed and/or confused. A support group helps you understand that your feelings are normal, guides you in understanding the grief process, and gives you a “safe place”, a confidential
setting where what is said stays in the room. If you would like to join us or have questions please call or e-mail: Fran
Ficker at 847-437-6208 x122 or [email protected].
You may also fill out the form below and mail it to her attention at St. Cecilia or drop it in the weekly collection.
You will receive a call before the first session.

YOUTH MINISTRY
Tuesday, April 28, 2015 4:00 - 10:00 PM
Our Annual Calendar meeting to establish dates, times, and places for meetings and special events will take place on Wednesday, May
20 at 6:30 PM in the Rectory Basement Meeting Room. Space will be allocated using the priority formula established last year: Wor-
ship and Sacraments; Major Parish Social Gatherings; Religious Formation and Youth Ministry; Special Events and Speakers; Commis-
sion Meetings; other needs.
All leadership is asked to keep in mind what has been established in prior years as to regular meeting days and times for the established
organizations and to avoid scheduling any special event which would cause a conflict. To help us prepare for this meeting, leadership is
asked to submit dates, times, and requested space for meetings and special events by May 15 to the Parish office. This will allow time
to see if there are any major conflicts which can then be worked through at the meeting on the 20th. If your organization has no con-
flicts, you will be notified and you are not required to attend the meeting on May 20.
Please note: if you do not submit events and dates or bring them to the meeting on May 20, there is no guarantee that space will be
available should you decide to schedule something next year. Please think ahead to a full year’s plan as you determine the direction
and needs of your group.

Hello Father Michael & the St. Cecilia Parish Family,
I want to thank you for being such a big part of the Mobile Park event at St. Alphonsus! I am grateful for your service and
for your generous financial support. Your contributions funded 34,489 of the lifesaving meals that were produced
here….what an incredible blessing! Your parish family truly demonstrates being the hands and feet of Christ and a light
on the hill in your community and I couldn’t be more grateful.
It is through such selfless efforts as yours that Feed My Starving Children will bring 270 million meals to children in 70
countries this year. I so appreciate your obedience to God’s call to care for the poor and I am grateful that you are carry-
ing that out through your support of our ministry.
May God Bless you and your parish with the same measure of generosity with which you have blessed FMSC & the chil-
dren we serve.
In Him and for His kids,

Catholic Charities Collection on Mother’s Day
Daria had no income, and lived with her children in a condemned building. Catholic Charities brought the family to one of our shelters. We helped her find work and permanent housing. She and her children were among the 991 individuals we shel-tered last year.
Please give to Catholic Charities on Mother’s Day to help homeless families get back on their feet. Learn more at www.catholiccharities.net.

The Knights of Columbus – Dedicated to making a difference
The Knights of Columbus is an organization fortified by its past and driven by its goals for the future. It is through these five areas of service – faith, community, family, youth and fellowship – that we truly make a difference.
Faith: As Knights, our faith is our foundation. Dedicated to the Catholic Church's growth and her good works, we support reli-gious outreach, promote vocations, and provide financial support for seminarians and postulates. This way, we help support our Church and strengthen our personal faith.
Community: As committed as we are to the Catholic Church, so are we to our communities. By actively and financially support-ing Special Olympics, by leading the charge in pro-life, or by safeguarding the environment, Knights of Columbus members all over the world have helped countless communities prosper.
Family: As fathers and husbands, serving our families is not only part of what we do, it is part of who we are. Most important, as Knights, we are able to provide assistance and support to Knights and their families whenever needed.
Fellowship: To be a Knight means to believe in each other as we believe in ourselves; realizing that by creating strong, social and supportive local councils, we help create a stronger order worldwide and ensure an even stronger future.
For more information on how you can become a Knight in Mount Prospect Council 6481, contact Chancellor Sy Beck by phone (847) 577–6893 or by email: [email protected] or Financial Secretary Steven Abbott at (847) 797–9113 or by email: [email protected].
