THE WORD OF GOD UNCHAINED There is no chaining the word of God! But how many times do we attempt to do that very thing? Had the followers of Jesus or the teachers of the law or the Pharisees been asked if the lepers should be cleansed or healed, the answer would most likely have been, “No, they deserve their condition.” The lepers would have been, perhaps, a mixed group, Galileans and Samaritans alike, the bond of their awful disease overcoming the pettiness of for-mer religious bickering. Jesus’ actions once again illustrate his vocation and ours: to reach out when healing is needed, to challenge when conversion is needed, to console when comfort is needed. He also follows his own advice from last week’s Gospel: do what you have been commanded to do. When the cleansed Samaritan has returned to give thanks, Jesus does not take it as an opportunity for self-aggrandizement, but rather offers insight into faith. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Ministry Fair/Oktoberfest…..Go and Make Disciples
On Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th St. Clare’s Parish will celebrate her many ministries. You will be able to peruse the tables set up in the Youth Center and, if you wish,
sign up to share your time and talent to help your parish. We’ve all heard “it takes a village” and there is much truth to that. We are a parish family and we rely on each other to help with
Masses by serving as lectors, ushers, Eucharistic ministers and altar servers. When we have functions like Ministry Fair/Oktoberfest, Fish Fry and BBQ, we need people to help set up, tear
down and clean up. Our Religious Education programs— from Sunday pre-school to Confirmation and RCIA, need teachers, aids and facilitators to run smoothly.
We need YOUR HELP to get things done.
We will also spend Ministry Fair and Oktoberfest weekend enjoying food of all kinds. You will be able to sample everything from Filipino and Indian food to a hot dog and a beer. We will
also be selling water and sodas and you can top off your meal with dessert and coffee. Proceeds from Oktoberfest go to help our Christmas Basket Program.
