As an example, did you know our Council resurrected the Vocation Chalice Program which was in place at SEAS for many years? The purpose of the Chalice Program is to encourage families to pray and promote vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life. How does the program work? A Brother Knight takes the chalice home for one week. During this week you and your family pray for an increase in vocations. At the end of the week, you “hand o” the chalice to the another Brother Knight on the list pretty easy but so powerful. I invite all Brother Knights and their families to participate in this program and help cultivate a positive environment dedicated to fostering vocations. Currently we have 20 Brother Knights signed up to take the chalice home we would like to double (or triple) this number. Please consider helping your Brother Knights and help Build the Domestic Church - take the chalice one week per year and pray for more vocations. To help with the Chalice Program, contact Sam Mehmert at [email protected] or myself at [email protected]. On the weekend of October 6-8 members of the Council and the Ladies Auxiliary collected $2,586.48 for the annual Tootsie Roll Drive or Drive for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. All money collected will be donated evenly to help fund the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and the Knight’s Training for Life Campus for Special Olympics being built near Jeerson City. Thanks to all Brother Knights and members of the Ladies Auxiliary who collected money as well as Brothers Jim Pomeroy, Ken Crowder and Ben Auton for helping coordinate this event. A special thanks to Chelsea Auton for going “above and beyond” all weekend to provide drinks, collect/count money and fill- in when extra help was needed. We held the 2 nd Annual Bean Bag Tournament on Sunday, October 15 th . Thanks to Dennis Henry Jr for coordinating this event. Also, thanks to all who “threw bags”, volunteered their time to work or made food. This year’s event raised $340 to be used for our charitable work; however, the real measure of success might be the fun and friendship displayed during the event. Planning is already underway to make next year’s event bigger and better. Thanks to all Brother Knights and members of the Ladies Auxiliary who took time from their busy schedules to represent SEAS with their participation in the annual 40 Days of Life event. This event, held on October 14 th , provided the opportunity for all to pray for the end of abortion and to protest at Planned Parenthood. Please note: we will be holding a First Degree Ceremony at our November Council Meeting. Lastly, our Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 9 th in the Parish Center after 5:00 mass. The Ladies Auxiliary promises an evening of great food, entertainment and surprises. Please mark your your calendars (or smart phones). Also, feel free to contact myself or any of the officers with questions, concern and or issues regarding any of our Council activities. Remember, this is your Council. Council Newsletterrother Knights:

Last month I brought up the new Building the Domestic Church – While Strengthening Our Parish initiative announced by the Knights of Columbus. This initiative calls for a greater involvement in the renewal of parish and family life. In the past month our Council was very active in several activities where our dedication to charity, our families and SEAS were proudly on display.

On the weekend of October 6-8 members of the Council and the Ladies Auxiliary collected $2,586.48 for the annual Tootsie Roll Drive or Drive for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. All money collected will be donated evenly to help fund the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center and the Knight’s Training for Life Campus for Special Olympics being built

near Jefferson City. A special thanks to Chelsea Auton for going “above and beyond” all weekend to provide drinks, collect/count money and fill-in when extra help was needed.

We held the 2nd Annual Bean Bag Tournament on Sunday, October 15th. Thanks to Dennis Henry Jr for coordinating this event.
