The Transf igurat ion of the Lord: August 6

That our lives reflect the love, mercy and forgiveness that Jesus has shown us.

“And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.” (Matthew 17:2) Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, we should reflect Christ’s light to the world. When we receive the Eucharist, the

body and blood of Jesus, we are called to be supernatural to reflect His love, mercy and forgiveness to others. When we are

grateful for all that God has given us, generosity flows through us because we are made in God’s image.

Are you good at talking to people and organizing events? We have a wonderful opportunity for you to serve your parish family. We need people to volunteer as chair and co-chair for our Bazaar on May 5, 2018. It requires a good amount of time mainly from January to May but you will have a lot of support from the office staff. There is a pattern in place and lots of wisdom from past chairs for how to accomplish the task. It involves soliciting sponsors and auction items, and coordinating booths and raffle ticket sales. It is a lot of fun and God will greatly bless you for your sacrifice. Please prayerfully consider volunteering and call Father Joseph at the office at 713-774-7475.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out

why.” - Mark Twain

Having heard Christ speaking to us in the living Word of God and having received his very Body and Blood in Holy Communion, the community is sent forth as disciples of Christ. Although the Mass is ended, our mission as Christians begins once again. Healed, forgiven, fed and sent, we are ready to follow Christ. But where does he want to take us? Come this week and reflect on how the Mass sends us forth with a purpose. Monday evening, August 7th, at 7:00 pm in St. Luke. For inquiries or to register, please call Vicky Quiray at 713-774-7475.

BUS DRIVERS NEEDED!

St. Francis de Sales would like to congratulate our newest representatives of the Archdiocesan Youth Council. Trinity Victoria, Hannah Ducay and Hudson Bookout were commissioned to their leadership position at the closing Mass at the Archdiocesan Youth Conference. We thank them for their dedication to service and evangelization, and our prayers are with them! The St. Francis de Sales Youth Ministry would like to extend our deepest and genuine gratitude to the parishioners of St. Francis de Sales. Your prayers, donations, and support were integral in our journey to the Conference. Without your support, many of our members would have not been able to attend. You have our deepest and most gracious gratitude!
