The Virtue of Stewardship:
Our parish school continues to
participate in the Virtues in
Practice program this year. Each
month, the whole school focuses on
the same virtue as they hope to
grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and
virtues. They also learn more about the saints
who exemplify these good habits. This month
students and their families are learning about the
virtue of stewardship. Please join them by
modeling how you return to God the first fruits
of your time, talent, and treasure during the
month of November.

RETREAT FOR SURVIVORS OF ABUSE
As we move into the next stage of the Season of
Healing, we recognize that the healing continues
for all survivors of abuse. On Sat, Dec 1 from
8:30am-5:30pm, the Archdiocese of Washington
is offering a one day retreat for survivors. This
day is not therapeutic in nature or an opportunity
for professional counseling, rather it is a day
centered on Christ and prayer.
To protect the privacy of those attending, the location
will not be publicized. For details and to register
go to https://adw.org/outreach-to-survivors/.
Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father:
I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears.
Now I am healing you. --2 Kings 20:5

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
For the greater glory of God...
Dear Parish Family,
Once again, I’d like to express my sincere
gratitude to everyone who helped to make our
31st annual Old Fashioned Christmas Bazaar
such a huge success last weekend. It’s wonderful
to see how this event brings so many people
together, both from within the parish and outside
the parish. In particular, I’d like to acknowledge
all of the hard work and efforts of Sue Breck, our
Christmas Bazaar chairperson. When we were in
need of a chairperson, Sue immediately came
forward and gave it her all. I’m also very grateful
to Beth Long, who worked so closely with Sue
over the past several months. They recruited
many new & returning volunteers who so
generously gave of their time. Thanks to all your
efforts, we raised $5,012.50 this year. Well done!
Today, November 25, is the final Sunday in
Ordinary Time, the Sunday before Advent and
the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King
of the Universe. With this feast, we celebrate
the all-embracing authority of Christ as the King
and Lord of all things, on earth and in heaven.
This solemnity was instituted in 1925 by Pope
Pius XI in his encyclical Quas Primas. He
connected an increasing denial of Christ as King
to the rise of secularism in much of Europe at that
time. Many Christians (including some
Catholics) had begun to doubt Christ's primacy
and existence, as well as the power and
responsibility of the Church to carry on the
authority of Christ. On this solemn feast of Our
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, may we
renew our commitment to allow Christ to reign
over our mind, body, and will.
Peace and blessings,
Fr. Rob
