ALMIGHTYGod, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets arehid;Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thyHolySpirit, thatwemayperfectly lovethee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Celebrant Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ saith.THOU shalt love the Lord thyGodwith all thy heart, andwith all thy soul, andwith all thymind. Thisis the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it; Thou shalt love thy neighbour asthyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

The KyrieCelebrant Lord, have mercy upon us.People Christ, have mercy upon us.Celebrant Lord, have mercy upon us.

Celebrant The Lord be with you.People And with thy spirit.Celebrant Let us pray.

Collect of the DayLET thy merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of thy humble servants; and, that they mayobtain their petitions, make them toask such things as shall please thee; through JesusChrist ourLord.Amen.

(The people sit.)

The Epistle is written in the Twelfth Chapter of the First Letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, beginning at the First Verse.

CONCERNING spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that whenyou were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I want you tounderstand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one cansay “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the sameLord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the sameGodwho empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through theSpirit theutteranceofwisdom, and toanother theutteranceofknowledgeaccording to the sameSpirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another theworkingof miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to anothervarious kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by oneand the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

Here endeth the Epistle.

(The people stand.)

The Holy Gospel is written in the Fourteenth Chapter of the Gospel According to St. Luke, beginning at the Forty-First Verse.

People Glory be to thee, O Lord.

WHEN Jesus drew near and saw Jerusalem, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, hadknown on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For thedays will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround youand hemyou in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your childrenwithin you.Andthey will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of yourvisitation.”

And he entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold, saying to them, “It is written, ‘Myhouse shall be a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of robbers.”

And he was teaching daily in the temple.

People Praise be to thee, O Christ.

Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: forall that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exaltedas head above all. 1 Chron. xxix. 11.

ALMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Apostle hast taught us to make prayers, andsupplications, and to give thanks for all men;We humbly beseech thee most mercifully to accept ouralms and oblations, and to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto thy Divine Majesty;beseeching thee to inspire continually the Universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, andconcord; and grant that all those who do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holyWord, and live in unity and godly love.

We beseech thee also, so to direct and dispose the hearts of all Christian rulers, that they may trulyand impartially administer justice, to the punishment of wickedness and vice, and to themaintenanceof thy true religion, and virtue.

Hear also what Saint Paul saith. This is a true saying, and worthy of all men to be received, That Christ Jesus came into the world tosave sinners. (1 Timothy 1:15)

Hear also what Saint John saith. If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is thePropitiation for our sins. (1 John 2:1-2)

Celebrant Lift up your hearts.People We lift them up unto the Lord.Celebrant Let us give thanks unto our Lord God.People It is meet and right so to do.

IT is very meet, right, and our bounden duty that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanksunto thee, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God.

THEREFOREwithAngels andArchangels, andwithall thecompanyofheaven,we laudandmagnifythy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying,

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, Lord God of hosts, Heaven and earth are full of thy glory: Glory be tothee, O Lord Most High. Amen

ALL glory be to thee, Almighty God, our heavenly Father, for that thou, of thy tender mercy, didstgive thine only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our redemption; who made there,by his one oblation of himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, andsatisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us tocontinue, a perpetual memory of that his precious death and sacrifice, until his coming again. For inthe night in which he was betrayed, he took Bread; and when he had given thanks, he brake it, andgave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my Body, which is given for you; Do this inremembrance of me. Likewise, after supper, he took the Cup; andwhen he had given thanks, he gaveit to them, saying, Drink ye all of this; for this is my Blood of the New Testament, which is shed foryou, and for many, for the remission of sins; Do this, as oft as ye shall drink it, in remembrance ofme.

WHEREFORE, O Lord and heavenly Father, according to the institution of thy dearly beloved Sonour Saviour Jesus Christ, we, thy humble servants, do celebrate and make here before thy DivineMajesty, with these thy holy gifts, which we now offer unto thee, the memorial thy Son hathcommanded us to make; having in remembrance his blessed passion and precious death, his mightyresurrection and glorious ascension; rendering unto thee most hearty thanks for the innumerablebenefits procured unto us by the same.

Page 7

AND we most humbly beseech thee, O merciful Father, to hear us; and, of thy almighty goodness, vouchsafe to bless and sanctify, with thyWord and Holy Spirit, these thy gifts and creatures of breadand wine; that we, receiving them according to thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ’s holy institution, inremembrance of his death and passion, may be partakers of his most blessed Body and Blood.

AND we earnestly desire thy fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise andthanksgiving; most humbly beseeching thee to grant that, by the merits and death of thy Son JesusChrist, and through faith in his blood,we, and all thywholeChurch, may obtain remission of our sins, and all other benefits of his passion. And here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, our selves, oursouls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy, and living sacrifice unto thee; humbly beseeching thee thatwe, and all others who shall be partakers of this Holy Communion, may worthily receive the mostprecious Body and Blood of thy Son Jesus Christ, be filled with thy grace and heavenly benediction, andmade one bodywith him, that hemay dwell in us, andwe in him. And althoughwe are unworthy, through our manifold sins, to offer unto thee any sacrifice; yet we beseech thee to accept this ourbounden duty and service, not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offenses, through Jesus Christour Lord;Bywhom, andwithwhom, in the unity of theHolyGhost, all honour and glory be unto thee,O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

And now, as our Saviour Christ hath taught us, we are bold to say,

OURFather, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done,On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, Aswe forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us fromevil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

WE do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our ownrighteousness, but in thymanifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gatherup the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to havemercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, andto drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may bemade clean by his body, and our souls washedthrough his most precious blood, and that wemay evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Celebrant O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world,People have mercy upon us.Celebrant O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world,People have mercy upon us.Celebrant O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world,People grant us thy peace.

Administration of Holy CommunionIt is the custom of this Church that all baptized persons who come in faith and penitence are welcome to receive theSacrament of Holy Communion. Communion will be administered by approaching the altar from the central aisle(maintining six foot distance from those around you) and receiving a wafer already intincted with wine dropped intoyour hand while standing in front of the altar. After you turn to leave the altar, you may lift your mask to partake ofthe sacrament, returning to your pew by either side aisle.

Hymn of the Week

The Church’s One Foundation

Text: Samuel John Stone (1839-1900)Tune: AURELIA - Samuel S. Wesley (1810-1876)

This week we turn to a well-known hymn sung all over the world. Like previous hymns we havestudied it points directly not only to the appointed readings but to the world around us and thecurrent situation in which we find ourselves.

The author of the hymn text is Samuel John Stone, a clergyman of the Church of England, theson of Rev. William Stone, was born at Whitmore, Staffordshire, April 25, 1839. He waseducated at Pembroke College, Oxford, where he was graduated B.A. in 1862. Later he tookorders and served various Churches. He was the author of many original hymns and translations, which were collected and published in 1886.

The actual words have this week’s hymn not changed much from Stone’s original text, thoughthere are differences in what verses are sung. Stone’s hymn originally consisted of seven stanzas,to which he added three more, and today most hymnals include the original 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Inthe first two verses, we proclaim our unity as the Church in Christ, through baptism, the Word, and Communion. In stanza 3 and 4, we pray that divisions might cease and we would fullyexperience that unity, and in verse 5, we acknowledge the unity greater than the sum ofindividual people, our fellowship with God, the Three in One.

The author of the hymn tune, AURELIA, which is most commonly wedded to Stone’s text, isSamuel Sebastian Wesley, He was an English organist and composer. The grandson of CharlesWesley, he was born in London, and sang in the choir of the Chapel Royal as a boy. He learnedcomposition and organ from his father, Samuel, completed a doctorate in music at Oxford, andcomposed for piano, organ, and choir. He was organist at Hereford Cathedral (1832-1835),Exeter Cathedral (1835-1842), Leeds Parish Church (1842 -1849), Winchester Cathedral(1849-1865), and Gloucester Cathedral (1865-1876). Wesley strove to improve the standards ofchurch music and the status of church musicians throughout his career.

Information adapted from hymnary.com

1. The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord; she is his new creation by waterand the Word: from heav'n he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his ownblood he bought her, and for her life he died.

2. Elect from ev'ry nation, yet one o'er all the earth, her charter of salvation one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hopeshe presses, with ev'ry grace endued.

The Daily OfficeIt is an important part of the history, tradition, and spiritual life of the Anglican Church thatprayer is offered throughout the day. Set times of prayer, called the Office, are set aside for thispurpose. Clergy are obliged, by reason of the vows they make, to pray at least the Offices ofMorning and Evening Prayer. Others are invited to join this round of devotion and praise, tostrengthen their own spiritual life with God.

This invitation is now extended to YOU.

Each weekday, recordings of the Offices of Morning and Evening Prayer will be available onour homepage (www.stgac.org) and our FaceBook page (www.facebook.com/stgac). Pleasenote:

• The Order for Morning prayer can be found on page three of the 1928 BCP.• The Order for Evening prayer can be found on page twenty-one of the 1928 BCP.• The Scripture readings are taken from the 1928 Daily Lectionary.• All Scripture passages will be read from the ESV translation of the Bible, including

the Psalms (Evening Prayer will use the Coverdale Psalms included in the 1928 BCP).

Please note that a PDF copy of the 1928 Order for Daily Office of Morning and Evening Prayer,as well as a copy of the 1928 Daily Lectionary are available for download just below the DailyOffice video recordings.

3. Though with a scornful wonder men see her sore oppressed, by schisms rent asunder,by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up, "How long?”And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.

4. The church shall never perish! Her dear Lord to defend, to guide, sustain, andcherish, is with her to the end; though there be those that hate her, and false sons in herpale, against both foe and traitor she ever shall prevail.

5. 'Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peaceforevermore; till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest, and the great churchvictorious shall be the church at rest.

6. Yet she on earth hath union with the God the Three in One, and mystic sweetcommunion with those whose rest is won: O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us gracethat we, like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee.
