The daily rosary is recited after the 8:00am mass. All are welcome to join. The rosary is the most beautiful and most rich in graces of all prayers, it is the prayer that touches most the Heart of the Mother of God. If you wish peace to reign in your homes, recite the family rosary.” St Pius X

Catholicism is a sacramental faith. We are

an earthy people, needing to touch, taste,

see, smell, and feel. Is it any wonder that

the way we connect with the incarnation of

God is to consume the Body and Blood of

that incarnation? Rather than merely listen

to the word of God, we consume that Word

of God made flesh. The sacramental reali-

ty reaches something deep within. Our

faith is not simply something we imagined,

or a summary of what can be learned in

books. Our faith is something we experi-

ence with our senses. We taste bread; we

drink wine. By consuming this sacramental

meal we participate in the life of Christ and

His paschal mystery.

We who gather around the table of the

Eucharist are fed by Christ and become

one in Him. The Eucharistic feast actually

brings about unity. The celebration of the

Body and Blood of Christ is much more

than the celebration of something to be

revered. By its very nature the solemnity

of the Body and Blood of Christ causes

unity shared by Christians by their partici-

pation in the Eucharistic feast. That unity

was Jesus’ own desire expressed by His

prayer to the Father. May we be instru-

ments of that unity by our own share in the

same Eucharist.

God bless,

Deacon John

Grace is like the gentle breeze of the dessert says the prophet, it can barely be heard, Grace is an act of love of the Holy Spirit. You cannot tell, says Jesus, where it comes from or where it is going. St. Peter Julian Eymard

DO YOU KNOW YOUR TRIBUNAL? The Tribunal is available to help people who have experienced divorce and who may wish to remarry in the Catholic Church. When a divorce occurs, the Catholic Church always seeks to balance two realities. On one hand the durable bond of marriage. This is God’s law. On the other hand, the Church is concerned about the spiritual welfare of the people involved. Even though a Catholic wedding was celebrated, perhaps there was some deficiency in the consent of the parties involved regarding intentions, understanding or ability? The annulment procedure ad-dresses these circumstances. If you are divorced and want to marry in the Church or remarried outside the Catholic Church, please tele-phone the Tribunal Office at 222 North l7th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (215) 587-3750

Jesus is Watching You Late one night, a burglar broke into a house that he thought was empty. He tiptoed through the living room but suddenly he froze in his tracks when he heard a loud voice say: “Jesus is watching you!” Silence returned to the house, so the burglar crept for-ward again. “Jesus is watching you, “the voice boomed again. The burglar stopped dead again. He was frightened. Franti-cally, he looed all around. In a dark corner, he spotted a bird cage and in the cage was a parrot. He asked the parrot. “Was that you who said Jesus is watching me?” “Yes”, said the parrot. The burglar breathed a sigh of relief, then asked the parrot, “What’s your name?” “Clarence,” said the bird. “That’s a dumb name for a parrot” sneered the burglar. “What idiot named you Clarence?” The parrot replied, “The same idiot who named the Rottweiler Jesus.”

St. Hilary 2018 Summer Music Private Lessons (For Grades 1 – 8) June 25th – August 23rd

Dear Parent/Guardian, I’d like to invite your child/children to participate in private music lessons at the school during the summer. So many students who have taken lessons during the school year forget so much over the summer and their skills get rusty. The summer is a critical time for them to continue improving on their instruments. Current students are encouraged to keep taking lessons and new students are also welcomed!

Tuition $30 per half-hour session for one child who takes one session weekly $25 per half-hour session for two or more children or one child who takes two or more sessions weekly Payment options: 1. Cash (It is best to mark the student’s name and the date on the envelope) 2. Personal Check, made payable to “Justin Jue” 3. ‘Venmo’ app – Venmo is a free app that lets you make and share payments. It is free as long as you use your checking account. 3% fee will apply if you use your credit card.

If you have to cancel or reschedule lesson, please give me a 12 hour notice. Payment can be made in the first week of the month whether there are four weeks or five. If the lesson is cancelled with a notice, the credit will be applied to tuition for the next month. Payment can also be made for each session.

If you’d like to sign up for lessons, please send me an email at [email protected]. Thank you and have a great summer! Justin Jue, Music Teacher

Look What’s New!

A beautiful new statue of St. Therese of Lisieux now graces our grounds in front of our Parish Center. The statue is a gift from Mrs. Helen Toland in memory of her late husband Dr. Joseph Toland who passed away in 2016. We are most grateful to Mrs. Toland for her most generous gift and also for the beautiful stone pedestal. This new addition to our grounds instills in us a sense of prayerfulness and quite re-flections. Mrs. Toland generosity will be a blessing for gener-ations to come.
