The celebration of Easter brings us to the central
mystery of our faith the passion, death and theresurrection of Jesus. It draws us closely to the heartof God. It reveals to us that the cross, though aStumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to theGentiles, (1 Cor. 2:23) is for those who believe, thepower of God and the wisdom of God (1 Cor. 2:24). Thecross manifests to us Gods standard of loving and Hisway of loving us.
The power of God that St. Paul proclaims (1 Cor 2:24)is unleashed in the resurrection of Jesus. The seemingfailure of the cross turns into a manifestation of Godsglory. He is alive. This is our faith. This means, in thewords of Ron Rolheiser, OMI, that, to believe in theresurrection of Jesus is to be comforted at a level so deepthat nothing in life is any longer a threat. In theresurrection, the hand of God soothes us and the voiceof God assures us, frightened children that we are, thatall is good, and that all remain good forever and ever. The resurrection is something that buoys up everymoment of life and every aspect of reality. God is alwaysmaking new life and undergirding it with goodness, graciousness, mercy, and love that, in the end heals allwounds, forgives all sins and brings deadness of allkinds to new life.
We wish you abundant blessings. With our love andprayers,

Welcome!
8 APRIL 2012 EASTER SUNDAY
We would like to extend a special welcome this weekend to all of you here today. Some ofyou may have been away for a while and some may be here for the first time.
Theres an old saying that goes, Once a Catholic, always a Catholic.Maybe you havebeen away from the Church for a little while or quite some time, but somehow you now feel atug at your heart calling you back home to the Catholic Church. Thats why were here.
That mysterious pull inside you, driving you to look into your faith once more, comes directlyfrom God. Your Heavenly Father is yearning for a relationship with you again, in the Churchfounded by Jesus 2000 years ago. Hes waiting for you with open arms.
You may want to take some time to explore all of the resources available to help you learnmore about coming home to the Catholic Church. We know you may have questions, and may
even want to resolve some past hurts before you can feel free to enter into a relationship withJesus or His Church again. We understand! You are not alone.
The Church has compelling answers to all of your questions. The Catholic Church hasnever wavered in its mission to spread truth and love throughout the world. The Lord wants usall to know and understand His truth, so we can embrace it wholeheartedly and live by it. Christhimself reminds us that, The truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
Consider this a sign, and your personal invitation to rediscover the truth, wonder andmystery of the Catholic faith. We are family. Welcome home!
Whether or not youre ready to return to the Catholic Church, or learn more about our faith, were here to help you take that second look. If you have everthought about returning to theChurch, we would like to welcome you to St. Irenaeus. We have a special ministry for people justlike you who have been away from the Church.

8 APRIL 2012 EASTER SUNDAY
Imagine itFor three long days they had been livingthe stuff that nightmares are made of. There were false
allegations. There was a trial. They watched, helplessly,as one they loved was unjustly convicted. And that wasthe easy part. Then came the sucker punch. Thescreaming, gut-wrenching, curl up in a little ball, I-cant-do-this horror of seeing their friend, brother, son, teacher, and savior beaten, humiliated, and mercilessly put todeath. How do you deal? You dont. You just survive. Those first days after Jesus died they must havewandered around in a fog. They must have tried toremember EVERYTHING about him.
Wait STOP what had he said to them? Resurrection he had talked of resurrection. He had said that in threedays he would rise. No, it couldnt be. Death was all they
could see.Imagine it The looks on the faces of the womenwho had come to prepare his body one last time. Thelooks on the faces of the Apostles when he came tothem. Disbelief and shock must have given way to hopeand joy. Now thats Easter!
But if thats just their story, then whats the point? Easterhas to be more than just their story. Its got to be MYstory too. More than that, Easter has to be my way of life.I have to learn from Jesus what it means to be aresurrection seeker and a resurrection sharer. Jesusdidnt just rise and go on his merry way. He made surethat people knew about it, saw him after it happened, could tell others what they had seen in him. Wow! So,like Jesus, I need to rise beyond the deaths that happenin my everyday life breakups, failed tests, illness, familytension. I need to look beyond sorrow and death to seethe everyday resurrections that wait to be noticed in mylife new friendships, healing, reconciliation, love andsupport. Then, I need to share it. I need to tell peopleabout the good that God is doing in my life and by myexample teach them to see the resurrection in their ownlives.
Imagine it Hmmm..I can only imagine..adapted from "Living Easter" at www.explorefaith.org
