Beginning next weekend … Our Pastoral Care Area (which consists of Immaculate Conception, Fayetteville, St. Ann’s, Manlius, St. Patrick’s, Chittenango and St. James) will be running a series of bulletin blurbs updating the parishes on the status of our
collaboration.
These informational blurbs will be run every other week beginning next weekend, September 12/13 through October. We ask that you read them over and if you have any questions, please feel free to send them to [email protected]. We would like to address your questions and concerns on
the opposite weekends.
Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults (RCIA)
SAVE THE DATE!
RCIA will be starting on Thursday, September 10 at 7:00p in the Library. Please use the Hurd Street entrance.
RCIA is a program designed by the Catholic Church to guide those who are interested in converting to Catholicism or who are already baptized in the Catholic faith but have not yet completed their sacraments (Confirmation). The program usually runs from September, beginning with the inquiry process, and comes to completion at Easter Vigil Mass with the reception of the Sacraments by the
candidates.
If you know of someone who may be interested in the process, please contact
Darlene Murray, 559-7504.
Help Needed! No experience necessary, just a willingness to share your faith and help those learn more about the Catholic faith. Team RCIA needs YOU! Contact Darlene
Murray at 559-7504.
September Pastoral Council Meeting The first meeting of the Pastoral Council will be Wednesday, September 16th at 7:00p in the Parish Hall. All council meetings are open to the parish. Among items to be discussed will be a revision of the Parish Mission
Statement.
Discerning a new Mission Statement
One result of our parish survey, along with discussions from the Pastoral Council, is the need to revise our Parish Mission
Statement.
Our current statement has served the parish well in the past, but we are being called to re-examine our Mission with the intent to
devise something more current and concise.
What do you think our Mission Statement should be? What is the unifying purpose of every ministry and every moment we gather in prayer? Let us know what you think by filling out an index card located on the table
in the Hurd Street entrance.
As a guide, mission statements should be clear, succinct and easy to repeat from
memory.
PRIMARY VOTING
LOCATION … St. James Church will be the new voting location for all elections (not for the Village elections). Our first go at will be Thursday, September 10 Primaries. Thursday morning Daily Mass at 6:45a will be held in the main Church.)
Parish Coffees
Will resume next Sunday, September 13 after the 9am Mass. Our hosts will be the Social Committee. All are
welcome to join us.
As you consider how you might serve, please consider that we are still in need of catechists for the
following grade levels:
9th and 10th grade (Wednesday
mornings, 8:00-8:42 am)
(Grade 6-12 meets Sept. 30-March 30 with no
classes during school breaks.)
Additionally, the release-time program is always in need of “guest teachers” (aka subs) to serve on an as-needed basis, as well as First Wednesday Mass Assistants (FWMA). FWMAs commit to taking the attendance for one or two classes of students attending Mass on the first Wednesday of November, December, & January, plus Ash Wednesday. Just 4 dates…how easy is
that?!
And if the younger set appeals to you, Sunday Preschool and Liturgy of the Word for Children (Sundays during 9:00 Mass) has a rotating group of people serving as
catechists.
Ready to serve? Considering, but would like to hear about other options to solo teaching? Contact Kelli Johnson at [email protected] or 655-4871 x305
to discuss the gifts you would like to share.
Silent Auction News
The Silent Auction is October 17! Donations are now being accepted. Please find forms at both entrances, and please call Pia Murray at 655-2112 if you need something picked up or if you have questions. You may also send us an email at: [email protected] With
gratitude, your Silent Auction Committee.
