Family Vocation Chalice program? Please call the office.
Consider signing up to take the Family Vocation Chalice to
your home for a week. It is a great way for your family to
pray together. There are prayers in the book that accompa-

MASS OFFERINGS
The Bishops of the Province of Missouri, by a unanimous vote on
April 14, 2019 in accord with canon 952, determined that the new
established Mass offering, as of July 1, 2019, shall be $10.00. This
decision was considered and arrived at due to the different proce-dures utilized in assisting the priests, throughout the State of Mis-
souri, in their everyday expenses.
FIRST SATURDAY MASS
To those who faithfully follow Our Lady’s requests for the Five First Satur-days, she has made a wonderful promise which she, as Mediatrix of All Graces, will certainly fulfill: “I promise to assist at the hour of death with the
graces necessary for salvation.” Why Five Saturdays? First of all, Sat-urday has traditionally been set aside as a day to honor Mary. Beyond this, SR. Lucy relates the reason for five –for the five offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
There are pamphlets in the vestibule of church which outlines this devotion.
And please continue to pray the Rosary for PEACE.

True Freedom: Our culture teaches us that freedom is the ability to
do anything we want. Companies even use slogans like “Be fearless,
Be limitless” “Just do it” etc. Scripture teaches us that true freedom
doesn’t mean we have the freedom to do anything we want, because
that includes sin. Scripture tells us true freedom means being free
from sin. Paul explains in today’s reading to the Galatians, “Brothers
and sisters, For freedom Christ set us free; so stand firm and do not
submit again to the yoke of slavery.” Paul is clear in his message to us that some of our actions or decisions can actually take away our
freedom. For instance, when someone hurts us in some way and we
refuse to forgive them, we are slaves to our anger, frustration, and un
-forgiveness. Many of us find ourselves confessing the same sin over
and over. Even though we receive absolution we can still be slaves
to that sin. This week we can take some time to use a Bible Con-
cordance to search for the word freedom and read the passages, so
we can come to a better understanding of what true freedom really
is. We could also take some time to pray and examine our con-
sciences to discover if there is anything in our lives that is holding
us back from achieving true freedom.
