Catholic Schools Week: January 26 - February 3 St. James Catholic School will take part in a nation-wide celebration of
Catholic education during the week of Saturday, January 26th to
Sunday, February 3rd, the 44th Anniversary of National Catholic Schools Week.
The theme for this year is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”
Eencompasses the core values that can only be found in Catholic schools across
the country. Not only are we teaching students to become future servant/leaders,
faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities, we as educators are
growing with them. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants, and leaders.
The shared qualities are what make Catholic schools work. They are what makes
St. James Catholic School succeed.
St. James Catholic School has provided a Catholic education for students in Augusta
and surrounding communities for 73 years. It offers Preschool through Eighth grades
for Catholic and Non-Catholic students with a wide range of students with all types of
learning backgrounds. For information please contact the school office at 775-5721.
Many activities at St. James Catholic School throughout the week: *Parents and grandparents or other relatives are invited to lunch all week. $2.60
per lunch. Please pay in advance in the school office. Or the student’s card can
be scanned in the school office.

*An ALL SCHOOL MASS (Preschool-Eighth Grades) Saturday, January 26th at
5:00 pm (Catholic and Non-Catholic). Children will lector and greet.
The St. Cecilia Children’s Choir will sing during Mass.
*St. James P.T.O. sponsors a Chili Dinner in the Gym after Mass.
*K-8 Students will sing a few songs and dance before dinner.

*Parents, Grandparents, and Friends are invited for donuts in the gymnasium
from 7:15-7:45am.

First Annual Benefit Dinner (previously The Parish/School Auction) St. James Benefit Dinner will be hosted on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Please consider
contributing/donating an item for our annual event. We are looking for items such
as: Spa and Relaxation baskets, Bed & Breakfast overnight stays, Custom Made Piec-
es, Golf Packages, Sports Apparel, Gift Cards and Baskets. All donations are tax de-
ductible (TAX ID# 48-0984164) and donors will be acknowledged. Donations need to
be received by Saturday, February 16, 2019. Please help us make our 1st Annual
Benefit Dinner a success. If you want to donate, please contact Zac Fleming at 316-

Basketball Free Throw Contest The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual free throw contest on
Sunday, Jan. 20 @ 1:00 pm in the school gym. Kids ages 9-14 are welcome to shoot
free throws for prizes and a chance to move on to the District and State contests.

The Credo Talks: “I believe” Father John’s Credo series of informational talks will resume on
Wednesday, January 30 at 6:45 pm. The next topic will be “How the
Catholic Church Built Our Civilization.” This series is intended to help
form our understanding of the what we believe. We cannot love what
we do not know. Our knowledge of our Faith will deepen our love of God,
His Holy Church and one another.
VIRTUS Training Class The best way to protect our children and our Church is for adults to learn red flag
behaviors and to report concerns to supervisors. All adult volunteers who work with
youth at school, church or the ice cream social are required to attend the VIRTUS:
Protecting God’s Children training before beginning their work. We encourage you
to sign up for a VIRTUS session. Visit www.virtus.org and click on the “First-Time
Registrant” button to view the schedule and register for a session. Coming session
at St. James will be Monday, January 21 @ 6:00 pm, in the church classroom. If you
