ASSOCIATION WINGS INSTRUCTIONAL WORK

The Association Wing continued with its routine activities of instructional work, enrolment of members, organizing of Lecturer’s courses and providing support and participation in various health, social and relief programmes, under the frame of its principles and guidelines. During the year training was imparted to 5,75,171 persons in First Aid, Home Nursing, Mother Craft and Hygiene & Sanitation, in the categories of aerodrome staff, community projects, drivers and conductors, armed forces & police, mines & factories, NCC, civil defense, home guard, railway employees, teachers & students and the general public. It has been encouraging for the organization that First Aid /Home Nursing Certificates holders showed their willingness to obtain higher level Certificates. 26,631 Certificates holders were re-examined for vouchers, medallions, labels and pendants. In the field of major activities, the year has shown all round progress in the multiple of activities of the St. John Ambulance (India).

HOME NURSING

Training in home nursing provides basic knowledge and skill for nursing the sick and wounded which results into more stress on this field. The training in home nursing is given to all categories, age group, communities, schools, institutions, organizations etc. Sometimes people may need nursing care at home either because their illness is not such which requires hospital treatment or they have been discharged from hospital after treatment to complete their convalescence. St. John home nursing training caters to the requirements of patients care at home and imparts training to give knowledge of the basic principles of nursing care to enable them to use their skills for this purpose. During the year 49,806 persons were trained and awarded home nursing certificates.

MEMBERSHIP

In St. John Membership enrolment drive is a regular feature of the Association. The centres continued to make concerted efforts in the campaign for boosting the membership. During the year under consideration 593 life members were enrolled in State/UT Centres.

LECTURER’S TRAINING COURSE

The lecturers of the Association Wing are the true strength of the State, District and Local Centers to impart trainings in First Aid and allied subjects in the country. The State/UT Centers continued to organize training courses to enhance the panel of lecturers on the approved list of the National Headquarters. During the year 264 Lay Lecturer Certificates were revalidated and issued. BRIGADE WING

The Brigade Wing functions as a para-medical force to provide First Aid cover and transportation service to the sick and wounded through First-Aid posts. Many Brigade Units maintained round-the-clock First-Aid posts at different places like Bus Stands, Railway Stations and other places. The other activities of the Brigade Units were setting up of eye check-up camps, health care centers and setting up of First-Aid posts in public congregations on the occasions of Republic Day, Independence Day, Rath Yatra, Trade Fairs, International Fairs and other public places of large gathering. COMMUNITY SERVICE

The volunteers of Brigade Wing provide assistance to State Governments and district administrator on the occasion of Ganpati festival, Kumbh Mela, Rath Yatra, Republic Day etc. Eye camps were organized to provide free eye check up and treatment. The various State Units of St. John provided assistance to their State Governments in the Pulse Polio Programs. During the year under report, volunteers of Brigade Wing actively worked in distribution of blankets to the old and needy persons in the extreme winters.

Round-the-clock First Aid and Ambulance Services were provided by Delhi Brigade District of St. John Ambulance at Inter-State bus terminals to transport the serious patients to hospitals for further treatment.

1. Assam

The objective of St. John Ambulance is to provide First Aid and medical support of community needs and imparting education, training and personal development to young people.

After met with an accident or sudden illnesses the victims endure considerable and needless pain and suffering and some of them die, simply because the person present around them do not have the knowledge to undertake and emergency resuscitation, control bleeding, cope with poisoning or to treat shock. Based on this noble idea, the St. John Ambulance (India), Assam State Centre has taken in hand a comprehensive scheme to provide First Aid Training to the people of Assam Police Department, Govt. officials and urban and community people, State Transport Corporation, Industrial Sectors like ONGC, OIL, OIL REFINERY and different chemical plants of Assam at large. Medical Services during Flood & Ethnic Violence: Besides organizing First aid Services in the time of Flood in Assam, Medical Services also were provided along with the Ambulance. During the year Guwahati, Mangaldoi, Goalpara, Dhemaji, Bilashipara, Rangia, Sadiya District Branch rendered remarkable services to the flood victims by health checkup, First Aid and free distribution medicine of minor ailments with the help of District Health Services. Ambulatory Service: Red Cross Hospital, Chandmari, Guwahati: At present Red Cross Ambulance Service is provided only within the greater Guwahati and trying to extend it to the other districts also. But it depends on benevolence and generosity of the donors. First Aid camp with the Ambulatory Services also provided on the occasion of Bihu, Ambubasi Mela, Sivaratri, Durga puja, Assam Sahitya Sabha Sanmilan, Book fare, Trade fare, sports meet and other public rallies organized in Guwahati on some specific socio-cultural occasions. During the year 45 Ambulatory Services were done under different emergency situation. Silchar District Branch: The Ambulance of the Silchar District Branch, mainly use for Hospital Patients on emergency call. The Ambulance also used for First Aid and Mock Drill besides Natural and manmade disaster in emergency. Ambulance moves daily at least 3 to 5 times in different emergency situation along with the Silchar town and its interior sub-urban areas. In a month at least 78 to 130 ambulatory service were provided by the IRCS, Silchar District Branch Karimganj District Branch: Total 350 Ambulatory Services were given to the hospitalized patients, accident cases and during the natural calamities during the year under report.

Ambubashi Mela: Ambubashi Mela at Kamakhaya Temple, Guwahati, Assam is one of the most important festivals of North East India in the month of June every year. More than 3,00,000 pilgrims assembled in the Mela from all over India and Abroad. The accommodation of the pilgrims, sanitation, drinking water, health & hygiene and security aspects has been adequately planned by the District Administration. As per request of the Kamrup District Administration, Assam State Centre also took active part in the Mela and provided several activities round the clock by the help of Trained First Aider and FMR Volunteers. First Aid, Medical Aid, Ambulatory Services etc. were performed by the volunteers.

Total 40 nos. of FMR volunteers and First Aiders took part in the programme for 7

days and more than 700 pilgrims were given First Aid medical aid and other Ambulatory Services.

2. BIHAR The Bihar State Centre has conducted First Aid training classes for factory workers, miners, railway employees and general public. Apart from providing First Aid Trainings the Centre set up special First Aid camps during the festivals of Chhat Puja, Durga Puja and other occasions. Demo Classes were also given to 500 candidates free of cost for awareness.

First Aid Post and Health Check – up camps: Total 25 camps organized by HQ and various First Aid Camp organized by districts Branches on the Local festival and 15th August, 2017, 26th January, 2017 as well as on the occasions of pious festival Chhath Puja.

• 15th August 2017 at Gandhi Maidan.

• 26th January 2018 at Gandhi Maidan

• Chath Ghat at Bank of Ganga river.

• Durga puja pandal at various places of Patna.

• Bihar Utsav at Gandhi Maidan.

3. CHHATTISGARH

First-Aid provides an initial rapid response to a health emergency, offering protective and life saving measures to minimize the impact of the situation until the affected person’s condition is stabilized, remedied or professional help is made available. As an integral part of health promotion, First-Aid Training also includes information on how to prevent injuries and illness, and covers individuals, families and communities both in their daily lives and in the event of a crisis. First-Aid can be adapted to particular needs and attributes of a situation and should consider both the physical ads psychological needs of the people concerned, including the volunteers, staff and beneficiaries. First Aid Training: One of the most important activities is First Aid Training programme in various industries like: Students (JRC/YRC, Engineering Students), Police Department, Driver for Heavy Batch License, School/College Teachers and councilors, Academy Students and ANM Students and other industrial areas. During the year under report total 1596 nos. of persons were trained in First Aid.

4. DADRA & NAGAR HAVELI

The U.T. Centre has conducted First Aid Training courses in the industrial units, wherein the knowledge of First Aid is mandatory amongst the employees. During the year 2017-18 total 36 Nos. of batches of First Aid Training camps have been conducted wherein 801 nos. of industrial workers have also been trained. The UT Centre also plans to extend the First Aid Training programme in schools/colleges. Also Home Nursing, Mothercraft & Child Welfare Training for the general public is being commenced.

5. DELHI BRIGADE The Brigade has on its rolls over 400 Divisions and Corps with about 6000 Volunteers drawn from different walks of life viz Students, Teachers, Govt. Employees, Public and Private Sector personnel besides youth Association’s, NGO’s and volunteers from Slum cluster etc.

During the year under review, the Brigade has rendered assistance to about 3.75 lacs people for minor ailments and transported 3010 serious casualties to nearby medical complexes/hospitals and attended 14,800 cases through Health Centers and Health Check up Camps etc.

Activities A. Emergency First Aid-cum-Disaster Mitigation Centres of Brigade deputed First Aid

Teams with Ambulances for rendering first aid for minor ailments. Some of them are given as under: -

1. International Yoga Divas

On 17th June, 2017, during celebration of International Yoga Divas, Ambulance and First Aid teams were deputed at Red Fort, India Gate and other places at different Yoga Camps.

2. On 26th June, 2017, on the occasion of ID-UL-FITR, an ambulance with first aid team

performed the duty at Madina Masjid, H-Block, Shakarpur, Delhi.

3. Kanwar Seva – First Aid Arrangements with Ambulance. During the month of Shrawan, Kanwarias start on foot from Haridwar to their

destinations to offer “Ganga Jal” at Shiv Temples on Shiv Chaudas. Large number of Kanwarias reaches Delhi and some of them goes to Haryana and Rajasthan via Delhi Borders. A number of Samitis organize en-route resting places and “Bhandaras” for these Kanwarias. The Brigade provided First Aid/Medical arrangements at the requests of Delhi Police, NGO’s and other agencies.

4. Inauguration of Museum on Kasturba.

On 7th July, 2017, an Ambulance with medical facility was provided at Mukherjee Nagar, Kasturba Kutir Ashram, Kingsway Camp, Delhi where Museum on Kasturba was inaugurated by Hon’ble H.E. Md. Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India

5. Independence Day Celebration.

Delhi Brigade set up First Aid Posts at Red Fort and around areas during Independence Day Celebration by Govt. of India and also at Chhatrasal Stadium, during Independence Day Celebration by Govt. of NCT of Delhi on all their rehearsals and finals.

6. At Ganpati Mahotsaav celebration-2017, organized by Maitri Education & Welfare Society (Regd.) at Ramleela Maidan, Mahindra Park Chowk, an ambulance with first aid team was deputed for duty from 25th August to 5th September, 2017 performed by Saraswati Vihar Ambulance Corps.

7. World Blind Day On 12th Oct., 2017, a first aid post with Motor Bikes was set on the occasion of World

Blind Day celebrated at Connaught Place (NDMC Building), New Delhi. 8. On 12th August, 2017, an ambulance with first aid team performed their first aid duty

at Siri Fort Auditorium, Gate No.2 on the request of Nehru Bal Sangh. 9. Ram Lilas and Durga Puja – Emergency First Aid cover This year, Ram Lilas and Durga Puja fell from 20th to 30th September, 2017. As usual,

the Delhi Brigade made first aid arrangements and deputed Brigade Ambulances at over 30 places.

10. Moharram - Tazia Processions Moharram (Ashea) has fallen on 1st October, 2017. Several Tazias called “Mehndi”

processions were taken out. Ambulance with first aid teams were deputed on 1st October, 2017 at the processions and at Kadimi Kabristan, Mukerian Chowk (PS Mahindra Park), Delhi.

11. Delhi Blind Walk On the occasion of World Sight Day-2017, an ambulance with first aid team

performed duty on 12th October, 2017 at Jantar Mantar at the walk from YMCA. 12. Chhat Puja Large number of devotees worship Sun-God by offering water on this day.

Ambulances with first aid facility were deputed at different Ghats in Delhi in the night between 26th - 27th October, 2017

13. On 20th, 21st and 22nd October, 2017, a standby ambulance with first aid team was

deputed at the Stephen Persian at DTEA Sr. Sec. School, Pusa Road, New Delhi. 14. FIFA - U17 World Cup. FIFA-U17 World Cup was held at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium from 6th to 16th

October, 2017. On this occasion, 8 First Aid Posts were set up with Honda ART Motor Bikes and Brigade Ambulances for attending casualties for minor ailments.

15. Bhagwan Jagannath Yatra – 28th October, 2017. Two Ambulances with First Aid teams were deputed at Bhagwan Jagannath Rath

Yatra organized by ISCON Temple on Saturday, the 28th October, 2017 at Red Fort, Delhi.

16. Diwali Bazar A First Aid Post was set up at Diwali Haat, from 10th to 16th October, 2017 organized by the Blind Relief Association, Delhi at Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, near Hotel Oberoi, New Delhi.

17. Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nand Dev Ji

As usual, the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committees in different Gurudwaras in Delhi organized Nagar Kirtan (Procession) on the auspicious occasion of Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nand Dev Ji. First Aid arrangements with Ambulances were deputed for duty.

18. Emergency Response & Disaster Management Mock Drill organised at Delhi

Terminal, Bijwasan and Indian Oil Corporation, Delhi. On 24th November, 2017, an ambulance with doctor was sent on the above event for

combating the emergency. 19. 70th Nirankari Samagam

Sant Nirankari Samagam was held from 18th to 20th November, 2017 at Burari Centre, Delhi. An Ambulance and two first aid Posts were set up, round the clock duty, from 16th to 22nd November 2017 at Ground Santokh Sarover, Burari, Delhi, for providing assistance for minor ailments and for transporting serious casualties to nearby Hospitals.

20. Masoom ka Tazia

Masoom ka Tazia procession was held on 27 November, 2017 from Pahari Bhojla Chandni Mahal to Dargah Shah-e-Mardan, Jorbagh, Delhi. Ambulances with First Aid teams were deputed to meet any untoward event and for rendering assistance for minor ailments to the needy.

21. Brigade Sensitization of First Aid assistance & setting up of a First Aid Post in

Science Fair A First Aid Post was set up and Sensitization programme was organized at B.R. International Secondary Public School, New Delhi by Sh. D. K. Sharma, Dy. Commissioner of Brigade, Delhi and First Aid Team with ambulance was deputed at the Science Fair from 28th -29th November, 2017.

22. 63rd National School Games

At the request of Dy. Director of Education (Sports), First Aid Posts were set up at all the Competition Venues for the facilitation of visiting players and officials from 27th -30th November, 2017. Tae Kwando and Karate event of the games were held from 1st December, 2017 to 7th December, 2017 and 3rd -9th January, 2018. The Brigade provided medical cover at 10 sites and four Ambulances for the facilitation of Competitors for rendering first aid to the injured children.

23. Birthday of Hazrat Mohammed Sahib

On the birthday of Hazrat Mohammed Sahib on 2nd December, 2017, an Ambulance with First Aid team was deputed at the procession organized on the above occasion for

providing assistance for minor ailments. As usual, the procession started from Bara Hindu Rao Chowk and concluded at Jama Masjid Chowk, Delhi.

24. Raising Day of Civil Defence, Delhi An Ambulance with First Aid Team and two ART Motor Bikes were deputed at the

request of Directorate of Civil Defence, Delhi on the Raising Day of Civil Defence on 4th and 6th December, 2017 for rendering medical assistance on the occasion.

25. Birthday procession of Shri Guru Govind Singh Ji – 24th & 25th December, 2017

On the occasion of Prakash Parv of Sri Govind Singh Sahib Ji, Nagar Kirtan procession started on 24th December, 2017 from Gurudwara Rakab Ganj, Talkatora Road, Shankar Road, Rajinder Nagar, Patel Nagar, Ranjit Nagar, Shadipur Depot, Moti Nagar, Najafgarh Road, Kirti Nagar, Ramesh Nagar, Raja Garden, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar Mor, Tilak Nagar, Jail Road, Gurudwara S.G.S.S., Delhi, the Brigade teams and Ambulances were deputed under the leadership of S. Ojas S. Walia, Asstt. Commissioner, SJAB for rendering medical assistance.

26. Half Marathon Run for Ladli held on 17th Dec., 2017 in Association with Delhi

Police. The Half Marathon Run was organized on “Gender Equity and Crime Against Women” on Sunday, the 17th December, 2017 from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi and back to the Stadium. The Delhi Brigade participated in the Run and set up 10 mobile First Aid Posts all along the route of the Run with medical teams on four Gates of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium with ART Motor Bikes and ambulances besides setting Exhibition Stalls at the Stadium.

27. Bodhi Parv : Bimte Budhist Heritage Festival

On the request of TEAMWORK Celebrating Arts, an Ambulance with first aid team was deputed on the occasion of Bodhi Parv; Bimte Budhist Heritage Festival held at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Janpath, Delhi on 9th and 10th December, 2017 for providing medical assistance.

28. New Delhi Assembly Sports Tournament – 2018

An ambulance with first aid team performed the duty from 11-14 Jan., 2018 at Thyagaraj Stadium at New Delhi Assembly Sports Tournament – 2018.

29. Republic Day Celebration – 2018 – First Aid Posts

On this occasion, as usual, the following arrangements were made at the request of Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

1. School Children Rehearsals- One First Aid Post with Ambulance on each day performed duties on 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 14th and 16th January, 2018 between Janpath and Man Singh Road Crossing at the rehearsals of school children.

2. Final Rehearsal (23rd January, 2018) and Final Day (26th January, 2018). - 17 FAPs established each day on 17th, 18th, 20th and 21st January, 2018 - 39 FAPs established on each day on 23rd and 26th January, 2018 all along the route

of Republic Parade.

c) Beating the Retreat Three Posts with Brigade Ambulances established on each day on 16th, 17th, 19th, 22nd,24th 27th, 28th and 29th January, 2018.

d) Martyr’s Day

One First Aid Posts with Brigade Ambulance set up on each day on 11th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and 30th January, 2018.

30. On 24th Jan., 2018, an ambulance with first aid team performed the duty at 39th Annual

Day celebration of Shri Mukhtiar Singh Shiksha Samiti. 31. Open International Boxing Tournament

An Ambulance with first aid team was deputed from 28 Jan. to 1st Feb., 2018 at Open International Boxing Tournament in India at the request of Boxing Federation of India for attending any untoward incidence.

32. Indian Red Cross Society – Youth Fest – 12th -14th February, 2018 IRCS Youth Fest was organized from 12th -14th February, 2018 by the National Headquarters of IRCS & St. John Ambulance (India). Delhi Brigade also participated in the event and sent youths to attend the Camp. The Delhi Brigade in coordination with Northern Railway St. John Ambulance (India), opened “Reception Booths” at New Delhi Rly. Station, Delhi main Railway Station and Anand Vihar Railway Station and assisted in the transportation of delegates coming from different State Branches to lodging venue in Noida.

33. Delhi Police Raising Day

On the occasion of Delhi Police Raising Day, an Ambulance with medical team was deputed on 14th and 16th February, 2018 at Parade Ground, New Police Line, Kingsway Camp, Delhi for rendering medical assistance.

34. An Ambulance with medical arrangement was deputed at Community Centre,

Kingsway Camp, New Police Line, Delhi in connection with DUSU election, 2018 for meeting any untoward medical assistance.

35. Walking Test of IFS candidates in National Zoo Park

An Ambulance with medical team was deputed from 27th -29th March, 2018 at the Indian Forest Service Examination-2017 and Walking Test for medical assistance.

36. Urs Transit Camp-2018 from 13th to 30th March, 2018 a first aid team was deputed

through the Mobile Medical team sent by DGHS, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. 37. Rashtriya Raksha Mahayagya.

On the request of DCP, North Distt., on the occasion of Rashtriya Raksha Mahayagya at Red Fort, Delhi, and an Ambulance with First Aid Team was deputed from 18th to 25th March, 2018 for first aid assistance.

38. At Indian Forest Service Examination – 2017 of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, an ambulance with medical team was deputed from 27th – 29th March, 2018.

39. On the request of ISCON Temple, two Ambulances with First Aid posts were set up

on the occasion of Ram Navmi Festival-2018 on 25th March, 2018 at their temple at East of Kailash, New Delhi-110065 for medical assistance.

40. Mughal Garden, Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi

On the request of President Secretariat, four First Aid Posts were set up at four different gates at Mughal Garden from 6th February to 9th March, 2018 during the period when Mughal Garden is opened for public.

41. Health Check Up Camps

Delhi Brigade helped in the following Health Check Up Camps with medical team and medicines: - i) On 20th August, 2017, at Community Centre, MCD, Rohini, Delhi through Lions

Club, the Health Check Up Camps were organized ii) On 25 December, 2017 at KIIT World School, Pitampura organized by Lions Club,

Delhi. iii) The West District of SJAB associated in the Health Check Up Camp organized by

M/s Ayur Family in the memory of S. Harbans Singh Ji Narang and Sardarni Gursharan Kaur Ji Narang held on 29th to 31st March, 2018 at Ayur Factory, Hanuman Chowk, Ranjeet Nagar, New Delhi.

42. Outstation First Aid Arrangements

i) AC Sh. D.S. Lamkoti established first aid post at Vaishno Devi during both the Navratras.

ii) Shri Mani Mahesh Yatra 2017 - A first aid team during Shri Mani Mahesh Kailash Darshan Yatra-2017 held at Gauri Kund (H.P.) from 21st August to 27th August, 2017 at the height of 13,390 feet in the Pir-Panjal range of Himalayas was deputed under the leadership of Sh. G.C. Kaushal, Corps Commander. In the Camp, 527 pilgrims were rendered aid for minor ailments.

iii) Social Service Camp at Anand Pur Sahib – Under the leadership of S. Ojas S. Walia, a team of Brigade volunteers was deputed at Govt. Girls Sr.Sec. School near Tehsil Office, Shri Anandpur Sahib. Hola Mohalla at Anand Pur Sahib for setting up first aid post on 28.2.2018 to 3.3.2018.

43. Medical arrangements provided at Conferences and other places.

Medical services were provided and Brigade Ambulances deployed in different conferences and VVIP duties. These services were provided through Brigade’s Divisional/Corps Commander (M)/Doctors.

At the above, First Aid Posts/Medical Posts, Brigade personnel rendered assistance to about 3.75 lacs people for minor ailments and transported through Ambulance about 3010 serious casualties to nearby hospitals/Medical complexes. Besides this, about 14,800 cases were attended by Brigade’s Health Centres and Health Check up Camps etc.

B. Competitions in First Aid, Home Nursing, Hygiene & Sanitation. Delhi Brigade’s State level Competitions in First Aid, Home Nursing, Hygiene & Sanitation, both Theory and Practical with Crossing of Hurdles by first aid teams were held on Monday, the 25th December, 2017 in the premises of TB Association of India at 3- Red Cross Road, New Delhi - Teams of Adult Ambulance, Adult Nursing, Cadet Ambulance and Cadet Nursing participated.

C. Painting Competition – 31st December, 2017 The Painting Competition was organised in December, 2017 with the theme of First Aid, Tuberculosis, Swachhta Abhiyan and Hygiene etc. More than 400 Participants attended the competition in different age groups of 6-10 yrs., 10-18 yrs., 18-25 yrs and 25-30 yrs. People from Schools, Colleges and other institutions participated.

D. Pulse Polio During Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign in April, 2017, July, 2017, September, 2017, 28th January, 2018 and 11th March, 2018, booths were opened with deputation of Brigade Ambulances on each occasion at all Metro Stations, ISBT’s and Historical places. During the Campaign, more than 1,68321 children below 5 years were given Polio drops.

E. Blood Donation Camp

i) The Blood Donation Camp was organized in Oct., 2017 with 35 blood donors. ii) Two Blood Donation Camps were organized at Brigade Hqrs. on 21st January and

27th February, 2018 in the memory of Brigade members Sh. Dinesh Srivastav and Ms. Sushma who died on Brigade duty.

iii) On 25 Feb, 2018, a Blood Donation Camp was organized at Mahavir Sr. Model School, Sawan Park Extn., GT Karnal Road, Delhi with the assistance of Brigade by Jain Navyuvak Sangh Shakti, New Delhi. 215 people donated the blood. Delhi Brigade organized CPR Training and made first aid arrangement at the Camp under the leadership of Dr. T. C. Gupta.

F. Central Training Camp/ Refresher Training Camps Refresher Training vis-a-vis Central Training Camps were held on 11th June, 2017, 9th July, 2017, August, 2017, 7th Jan., 2018 and 21 Jan., 2018 for the Brigade’s Commissioned and Non-Commissioned officers besides the registered Lecturers. In the Camp, training on special subjects i.e. Handling of Mass Casualties, CPR, Improvisation and Transportation of Casualties was imparted.

G. Training in Emergency first-Aid and Allied subjects.

(i) Under the Awareness Programme, training workshops were held on Life Saving First- Aid at different places and over 12000 candidates had participated in the same.

(ii) For enrolment in the Brigade, first-aid classes were organized by the Brigade in Schools, NGOs and other places in which about 15000 people were imparted training in Emergency First-aid and allied subjects.

H. ICTC Centres Brigade’s Integrated Counseling and Testing Centres at Inter State Bus Terminal – Kashmere Gate where people for HIV are tested at their free will on the advice of medical practitioner.

I. Annual Inspection The annual inspection of different Corps/Divisions was conducted by the senior officers of the Brigade and the members were exhorted to continue to render services to the sick and injured with more compassion, devotion and by using their skill.

J. Cadet Day Cadet Divisions celebrated Cadet Day where they took pledge to continue to treat the needy with more zeal and care for minor ailments.

K. Ambulance services Brigade’s Ambulances transported serious patients from First Aid Posts, residences of patients (on request) to hospitals /and medical centers and vice-versa. Ambulances were also used for different training programmes of Brigade, inspection of units, setting up of first-aid posts, Pulse Polio centers, and in other catastrophic situations, public congregations and other activities of the Brigade. The Ambulances were provided to assist the Mobile Medical Health Scheme of Delhi Govt. to provide medical arrangement at different public congregations and for transportation of about 2070 serious casualties to medical centers/hospitals during the year.

L. Pre-Disaster and Disaster Management Services.

a) The Brigade’s Pre-Disaster Planning is an integral part of preparedness process

towards mitigation of sufferings caused in catastrophic situations. The Brigade officers had been participating with First-Aid Teams in Mock Drills organized by different districts and attending various meetings called by District Disaster Management Authorities for high lighting vulnerable areas in the area and working out the ways and means of reducing the impact if any, and search for rescue and evacuation.

b) The Brigade’s Lay Lecturers had been imparting training in schools on Life Saving First-Aid to teachers and students as per DDMA program. Orientation, Sensitization and Training Programmes were organized by the Brigade in different schools, RWA’s and other places.

6. GUJARAT

Progress Report: St. John Ambulance (India), Gujarat State Centre works as a separate entity and provides its Humanitarian Services through 30 centres in all over Gujarat State for the welfare of mankind with the strength of qualified, dedicated and well trained Doctors, Lecturers, Social Workers and Staff Members.

First Aid Training classes were conducted by the State Centre, District Centres, Sub Centres and First Aid Training Class Centers. Arrangements were made by the State Centre and District Centres for imparting training at Schools/Colleges and in large nos. of Industrial Organizations at their own premises with the use of latest gadgets like Audio – Video Visuals and practical demo on Manikin Module. Total 29 State/District/Sub. Centres and F. A. Training Class Centres in the State, continued to impart F. A. Training, where over 38972 persons were trained for First Aid Training besides 3686 candidates were re-examined for Voucher certificate and 1530 persons awarded for Medallion certificate and 106 candidates awarded for Junior F.A./Label/Home Nursing throughout the State. In the Membership drive, total 01 Patron Member, 59 Life Members and 46664 Annual Members enrolled during the year. Other Activities:

1. Ambulance Van covered the distance of more than 8421 kms and more than 27 patients were transported throughout the Gujarat State as well as Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

2. The State Centre has set up the First Aid Post at Delhi Chakla, Ahmedabad with Rescue

Team along with Ambulance Van to provide Medical Aid to the injured on the occasion of Rathyatra and Dr. A.I. Mansuri has given honorary services to the injured and others.

3. Regular General Public Medical Check – up, Eye Check – up, Dental Check –up, Blood Donation Camps and other Humanitarian Activities were also organized by the State Centres.

7. HARYANA

First Aid & Home Nursing Training 2017-18 To impart First Aid & Home Nursing Training is one of the major activities of the centre. During the year 2017-18 more than 2, 34,002 persons (both male and female) had been trained in First Aid and Home Nursing by the Haryana State Centre. Membership The membership drive was run in all districts of Haryana to enroll maximum members with St. John Ambulance (India) as an integral activity. During the year 2017-18, 3,957 Life Members, 23,158 Annual Members and 1,620 Annual Associates have been enrolled by the State Centre and its District St. John Centres in Haryana. State Ambulance Competitions

Every year St. John Ambulance Brigade No. 24 (Haryana) organize State Ambulance Competitions in First Aid & Home Nursing in collaboration with one of the District St. John Centre. In these competitions teams from various Educational Institutions, Police, Home Guards, Civil Defence, Railways and Factories are invited for participation. The main objective of the State Ambulance Competitions is to maintain and increase the efficiency of the Brigade Officers and Cadets in rendering First Aid and Home Nursing to the people and community wherever it is needed. During the year 2017-18, 24thState Level Ambulance Competitions in First Aid and Home Nursing were organized from 18th to 21st April, 2017 at Siddhartha International School, Panipat. In these competitions, 106 teams from 22 Districts of Haryana participated. Refresher Training Course in First Aid & Home Nursing During the year 2017-18, Refreshers Training Course in First Aid & Home Nursing was organized from 29th to 31st May, 2017 at Youth Hostel, Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. 32 candidates (26 male and 6 female) from 14 districts of Haryana attended the course. Brigade Officers Training Camp

During the year 2017-18, Brigade Officers Training Camps was organized 29thto 31st May, 2017 at Youth Hostel, Mussoorie, Uttrakhand. 56 Candidates (44 male & 12 female) from 18 districts of Haryana attended the camp. Lecturers’ Training Course In First Aid & Home Nursing At Panchkula

Lecturers Training Course in First Aid and Home Nursing was organized from 22nd to 28th Sept., 2017 at Shri Mahkaleshwar Mandir, Kalesar, Chhachharuli, Yamuna Nagar. 38 candidates (33 male and 5 female) from 15 Districts of Haryana attended the course.

Participation of St. John Ambulance Brigade Divisions in the Independence Day and Republic Day March Past

Every year March Past drill is conducted by the District Administration on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day function. In these drills the squads of Police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts & Guides participate. This is the first time, when the cadets of St. John Ambulance Brigade Team, participated in the District Level Independence Day and Republic Day functions.

Establishment of First Aid Posts First Aid posts are established by various Districts Centres in Haryana on important Days, Functions and Gatherings to provide First Aid services to the injured persons. During the year 2017-18 total 44 First Aid posts were established on various occasions and provided first aid to 12,567 injured persons.

Formation of Disaster Response Teams

Every district of Haryana, St. John Centre has been given target to form Disaster Respond Teams so that at the time of any emergency/disaster, the services of the volunteers of Disaster Response Teams can be utilized. During the year 2017-18, 175 Disaster Respond teams

consisting of 2489 volunteers (1795 male & 461 females) have been formed in the Districts of Haryana. Celebration of Road Safety Week

Road Safety Week was celebrated from 11th to 17th Jan., 2018 to aware the public about Road Safety measures. During this week, District St. John Centres in Haryana organized awareness programmes about road safety measures in the community, schools, colleges, work places, on roads, encouraged all the travelers to follow the traffic rules and wear helmets and seat belts while driving, aware the people about the speed limit of the vehicles to prevent road accidents, aware to maintain the speed and required distance from other vehicles, aware people do not drink & do not drive when tired and do not use phones or radios while driving. During this campaign the basic knowledge of First Aid was also provided to the public. During the year 2017-18, more than 90 road safety awareness campaigns were organized in the Districts of Haryana and 16,149 male & females were motivated about road safety measures.

Awareness on Health & Hygiene

St. John Ambulance (India), Haryana State Centre and District St. John Centres organized various campaigns on Health & Hygiene to aware the students and public at large about Health & Hygiene. During the year 2017-18, more than 200 awareness campaigns were organized and 26,296 persons were sensitized about Health & Hygiene. Swachhatta Abhiyan

St. John Ambulance (India), Haryana State Centre and District St. John Centres organized Swachachhata Abhiyan awareness campaigns and motivated the students and public to keep the area clean in houses, workplaces and community places. During the year 2017-18, more than 135 swachachhata Abhiyans were organized in various rural & urban areas and 29, 410 persons were motivated about the cleanliness. The students and public had taken oath to keep the environment clean.

Awareness Campaigns for Voluntary Blood Donation Voluntary blood donation is perhaps one of the most perfect examples of altruism. The objective of collecting blood through Voluntary blood donation is to provide safe and quality blood and blood components collected from voluntary donors and ensure safety and quality of blood. During the year 2017-18, the St. John Ambulance in Haryana motivated that any healthy adult, both male and female, can donate blood. Men can donate safely once in every three months while women can donate every four months. St. John Ambulance, Haryana and its District Centres organized various awareness campaigns in rural and urban areas and motivated 54,235 persons (28730 male & 5451 females) for voluntary blood donation during 2017-18.

Formation of St. John Ambulance Road Safety Brigade Teams A new initiative has been taken by the St. John Ambulance (India), Haryana State Centre, Chandigarh by giving target to each District St. John Centre to form atleast “ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ROAD SAFETY BRIGADE TEAMS”in Schools, Colleges, Universities and

in the NGOs. The members of each division assign duties to aware the public about the road safety. More than 70 Road Safety Brigade Teams have been formed having about 1400 volunteers. Mega Mock Drill Exercise Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Haryana conducted a Mega Mock Drill exercises in all the Districts of the State on 21st Dec., 2017 to increase earthquake preparedness capacity of Haryana. District St. John Ambulance Centres have trained volunteers in First Aid & Home Nursing trained Brigade Officers and Cadets to handle the situations during any Disaster to prevent the spread of panic and other misunderstandings among public and to provide immediate First Aid to the injured. The Brigade Divisions and volunteers participated in the Mock Drill of First Aid to the injured. During the year 2017-18, 3116 Brigade Cadets/Volunteers (2561 male & 551 female) of St. John Ambulance, Haryana participated in Mega Mock Drills in their respective districts.

8. HIMACHAL PRADESH The Himachal Pradesh, St. John Ambulance Association, State Centre Shimla has completed 30 years of dedicated services in imparting training in the field of First Aid and other allied subjects. Activities:

First Aid Training: The First Aid Training was given to the Factories/ Industries workers, Corporation employees, Social Workers and Resort in the State of Himachal Pradesh. During the year more than 580 were trained in First Aid.

9. JAMMU & KASHMIR The activities carried out by the Regional Centre of St. John Ambulance, Jammu (J&K) during the year 2017-18 are as under:-

11. KARNATAKA

Karnataka State Centre which has taken its birth 109 years ago has made steady progress consistently in the field of imparting First Aid & Home Nursing Training to the People at large through 90 training centers spread over the state. The activities are not confined only to instructional work but also to various other health oriented activities. The Brigade movement earned laurels for the services rendered to the sick and injured. AWARENESS & TRAINING PROGRAMMES ON FIRST AID :- Karnataka State Centre is continuously concentrating its activity in the sphere of imparting First Aid Training to the candidates of all categories like conductors, drivers, factory workers, students, teachers, nurses, mine workers, MNC company workers, software engineers, aerodrome staff, air hostess, police personnel, general public. Lecture and demonstration programmes were arranged wherever required by deputing panel doctors and demonstrator, so that the public understand and become aware about the importance of First Aid in emergencies to meet the eventualities. Apart from regularly conducting classes in First Aid at the State Training Centre, the panel doctors and lecturers are assigned duties to train workers in the Factory, students studying in schools and colleges in First Aid and award certificates. 12. KARNATAKA BRIGADE St John Ambulance Brigade came into existence in the year 1934. From then onwards, it has grown in size. Steady progress has been made in the activities of the Brigade, since the Brigade men drawn from all divisions render emergency public duty whenever it warrants and also participate in the parades held on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day Celebrations. Brigade Officers conducted several Meetings in the year under report to take decisions on various developmental activities. Emergency First Aid Service: During the year under report, their Brigade Units have rendered emergency First Aid services (Public Duties) on various occasions at different congregations, Melas, Sports Meets, Public Functions/Celebrations, University Convocations etc., The brigade members deployed for rendering duty exhibited their best performance in the services and got appreciation from the said organizations, which brought laurels to their Brigade Unit which they feel proud of their participation. National Service Camp in Car Festival of lord Jagannatha at Puri :- In connection with National Service Camp organized at Puri, Orissa, related to famous rath yatra of Lord Jagannatha held from 20th June to 26th June 2017, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Odisha District has set-up First Aid Posts at Gopabandhu Ayurved College, V.I.P.Road, Puri. As per their request, 5 Brigade Members including one Brigade Officer were deputed from their Brigade unit to render Emergency First Aid service/duty in the above period. These brigade members exhibited their best performance in the above national service camp and got appreciation by the organizers of the said camp. Annual Brigade orientation Training Camp 2016 and 2018:- The Annual Brigade Orientation First Aid Training Camp was conducted smoothly from 19th to 22nd December 2016 and 22nd to 25th November 2018 at Dr. Anne Besent Park Scots and Guides Camp Site, Besant Park, Doddaballapur, Bangalore Rural District . These camps provided opportunity for 200 participants drawn from various Brigade Divisions, Mining Industries and Schools, apart from Brigade Officers, Faculty and Staff Officials etc. to improve their knowledge in rendering First Aid apart from participating in the First Aid competitions, First Aid Quiz Competitions etc. Cultural programmes was also part of the Camp activities. Brigade Executives, Brigade Officers, Office bearers & E.C.Members of St John Ambulance (KSC), Doctors and Lay-lecturers, Staff of the organization extended their helping hand and full co-operation in making the camp a grand success. Emergency First Aid Service: During the year under report, their Brigade Units have rendered emergency First Aid services (Public Duties) on various occasions at different congregations, Melas, Sports Meets, Public Functions/Celebrations, University Convocations etc., The brigade members deployed for rendering duty exhibited their best performance in the services.

FIRST AID QUIZ COMPETITION:- The Brigade conducted “FIRST AID QUIZ COMPETITIONS” for High School students to get awareness in First Aid subjects. In most of the Taluks and District Centres of Karnataka State Quiz Competitions have been conducted successfully and got good report. Among all the centres, Ramanagaram District Centre stands first in the entire state of Karnataka which is conducting Quiz Programmes from past several years. This year Bangalore District Centre also has organized Quiz Programme at S E A Primary & Higher Secondary School, Ekta Nagar, Basavanapura, Virgonagar Post (K.R.Puram), Bangalore – 560049 and also at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bagalur, near Yelahanka, Bangalore Urban District. However, still they are pursuing various other District and Taluk Centres and Educational Institutions to take initiation for organizing “Quiz Programmes”.

13. MAHARASHTRA

Poster Competition 1. On 9th December 2017, around 200 children from South Mumbai schools participated in

a Poster Competition on “Traffic Rules”,at Lady Engineer School and all were given participation Certificates.

2. On 16th December 2017 around 100 Children from suburban Schools participated in a

Poster Competition on “Traffic Rules” at St.Xavier’s School, Airoli and all were given participation Certificates.

3. On 21st December 2017, around 162 girls from Anjuman-e-Islams’ school at Bandra

participated in a Poster competition on a topic “Traffic Rules” and all were given participation Certificates.

4. On 24th December 2017, around 100 underprivileged children from an NGO “Sabh ka

5. On 20th December 2018, around 200 underprivileged children from Garden School,

Colaba and Reay road had a Christmas party with lots of fun, games and dance and the winners were given special prizes. The School children were donated with books and stationery. At the end of the party, all the children were given gift hampers.

Hosting of Play On 25th June 2017, as part of 101 year Celebrations, an English play “The Relationship Agreement” was hosted at the NCPA. It was open to the public, and was well attended where everyone enjoyed the performance immensely. There was a lucky draw and the winners were given Gift Hampers. On the occasion of 101 Year Celebrations, the State Centre produced a Souvenir with lots of Medical tips, Snippets, Guest articles and advertisements. This has created awareness and improved the profile of St. John Ambulance Association. Blood Donation Camp On the 24th January 2017 conducted a Blood Donation Camp at Juhu Airport, Mumbai. Medical Camp In July 2017, free Medical Camp at Pandharpur was set up at 3 locations - Darshan Mandap, Mandir premises and Someshwar Temple, and near about 31,247 patients were treated free of cost during the 6 day camp.

Ganpati Visarjan On the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan at Girgaum Chowpatty organized a Medical Camp with Doctors and Volunteer’s to render help to general public who were in need of emergency First Aid. Trainings Conducted in the year 2017-18 In the year 2017- 2018, around 12480 Candidates underwent for First Aid trainings. In which hotel employees, security staff, factory employees, hospital staff, drivers of companies, house wives, schools & college students and persons seeking employment were participated.

14. NO. 20, SOUTHERN RAILWAY Strength:

Southern Railway, has been conducting First Aid Training Classes regularly all over

and more than 2260 members were enrolled during the period. Training:

During the year 2017-18 nearly 2873 members were trained in the Field of First Aid

Training Awareness demonstrations were staged at various workshops and yards through which more than 3500 employees were trained in Basic Life Saving techniques.

Training Camps & Competitions:

In order to train the members of SJAB, First Aid Training camps were conducted at Corps level, District level, etc. Various competitions were conducted to review and update the knowledge of the First Aiders. Trivandrum Corps conducted its training camp at Kanyakumari, Perambur Corps Training camp held at Yelahanka, ICF Corps conducted its training camp at Kanyakumari and Annual District Traing camp was held at Mysore.

Award Received: Group Award: “Best Service Award” for rendering service during Vardah Storm received from Chief Medical Director, Southern Railway.

Public Duty, Fairs & Festivals:

Southern Railway District attended to Pulse Polio Camps, periodical festivals at places such as Guruvayoor, Trivandrum, Nagapattinam, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Trichur, Melnariappanur, Palani, Nagoor, Vadalur, Rameswaram, Chidambaram, Tiruttani, Chenganoor, Madurai, Aluwa, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Tiruchendur for major festivals such as Attukal Ponagl, Thirukudamuzhakku vizha etc. and attended to more than 5483 cases and rendered First Aid services.

St. John Ambulance Brigade, No. II (West Bengal) District is renowned for its selfless service to humanity at large. The strength position of No. II Brigade District is 8534.

Activities:

1. Permanent First Aid Post & Medical Assistance: Corps & Divisions of the Brigade District organized & run the static First aid post at their locality and also helped the people who were needy by providing free medicines, Medical advice, blood group detection camp.

2. Ambulance Service: Brigade Hqrs. And Divisions provide Ambulance Services to 1430 patients & casualties to Hospitals and Nursing Homes.

3. Public Duty: -3715 injured persons were given First Aid.

-1219 persons were transferred to hospitals.

17. ODISHA During the year 2017-18 the Brigade volunteers rendered First Aid services in road accidents, fairs and festival occasions in Odisha State as mentioned below:-

First Aid service camp organised in Mahasivaratri Mela of Lord Lingaraj Temple, Bhubanewar, at Kapilash Hill of Dhenkanal District,at Mohabinayak at Chandikhole in Jajpur District and at Sri Lokanath temple at Puri on 24.02.2017. Brigade volunteers attended the casualties from the huge gathering during the celebration.

05. Their volunteers of Nursing Division both women and Girls have been participated in the State Level Independence Day parade and Republic Day parade at mahatma Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar on 15th August 2017 and 26th January-2018.

The 29th National Service Camp was observed on 22.06.2017 to 26.06.2017 at Gopabandhu Ayurved College, Puri His Excellency the Governor of Odisha and President of St. John Ambulance Odisha has inaugurated the Service Camp 170 Brigade volunteers from outside the state and inside the state attended the camp. The Brigade members rendered First Aid service during the World famous car festival (Rath Yatra) of Lord Jagannath. St. John Ambulance Brigade volunteers attended 2117 nos. of casualties out of which 141 casualties transported to Hospital.

07. Sishu Mahostav was held at Government Boys High School, Unit-IX Bhubaneswar for the period from 14.11.2017 to 16.11.2017 where their volunteers and one Ambulance Van performed duties day and night.

08. Brigade volunteers with one Ambulance van have been deployed during the observance of Toshali National Craft Mela for the period from 15.12.2017 to 27.12.2017 where thousands of people attended.

09. Brigade volunteers of State Headquarters Bhubaneswar, Murari Ambulance Division, Puri, Sri Jagannath Ambulance Division, Puri, Chakadola Nursing Division, Puri, Ramadevi Ambulance Division, Cuttack, Anant Ambulance Division, Talcher, District Angul have rendered First Aid service during the observance of Sandhya Darsan, Bahuda Yatra (Return Car festival) and Sunavesa of Lord Jagannath from 02.07.2017 to 04.07.2017. During the festival Brigade volunteers attended 241 casualties out of which 126 casualties were transported to hospital.

10. Brigade volunteers with Ambulance van have been deployed at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar during celebration of Odisha Men’s World Hockey League Final-2017 and rendered First Aid service.

On 18th January 2018 their Brigade volunteers rendered First Aid service during the celebration of Job Fair for persons with Disabilities and Non-disabled Job seekers in collaboration with vocational Rehabilitation centre for Handicapped (VRCH), Bhubaneswar and Gandamunda, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar.

12. Brigade volunteers attended Rukuna Rath Car festival of Lord Siva on 03.04.2017 and return Car festival on 07.04.2017 where they rendered First Aid service at distributed water to the pilgrims.

13. Brigade volunteers rendered First Aid service during the commencement of Toshali Craft Mela at Janta Maidan, Bhubaneswar for the period from 15.11.2017 to 02.12.2017.

14. Brigade volunteers rendered First Aid service during the observance of 16th Anjali International Children’s festival from 14th Nov 2017 to 18th Nov-2017 day and night at Adibasi Exhibition Ground Unit-I, Bhubaneswar.

BALLY YATRA Historical Bally Yatra has been celebrated at Cuttack City for the memory of Kalinga Traders to Bally Island for the period from 04.11.2017 to 08.11.2017. Lakhs of visitors visited to the festival. The brigade members rendered First Aid service day and night in the festival. They have attended 432 nos. of casualties as per record in the festive, out of which 12 serious casualties were transmitted to Hospital.

18. PUDUCHERRY Trainings: During the year the State Centre trained 1079 candidates in First Aid by conducting 3 courses. Out of which 1071 candidates were qualified. Programmes: Immunization: Conducted immunization programme at Muthialpet area, Puducherry State. Immunized more than 266 children by giving each 3 injections (monthly) of Triple Antigen and 5 drops/2 drops of oral polio drops. Eye Camp: Conducted Eye Camps and Awareness camps on the Importance of First Aid especially during accidents. The State Centre provides food to orphanages so as to commemorate St. John’s Day.

21. SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY The South Eastern Railway Centre provides first-aid training to the Railway men community including office staff, artisan staff, factory workers, front line commercial staff, drivers, guards, officers, RPF staff, scouts & guides and civil defence. During the year 2017-18 the centre trained 3002 railway employees & their wards on CPR and spread awareness on ‘First-Aid to the Injured’ in various work places of South Eastern Railway. On the other hand 91 Railwaymen earned Sr. First Aid Certificates. In S.E.Rly., the Brigade Wing No.22 (S.E.Rly.) District continued to serve the train passengers in trains & at Rly. Stations as well as the general public at large gatherings, emergencies and catastrophic situations by providing first aid at stat and transporting serious casualties to hospitals. Their members attended the National Service Camp at PURI during Car Festival like every years. They extend their helping hands during the Puls Polio Immunisation progaramme organised by the medical deptt. of S.E.Rly. Chakradharpur Ambulance Division, Kharagpur Ambulance Division. The Santragachhi Ambulance Division also organised Health Check Up and Cancer Awareness-cum-Detection Camp like previous years at the premises of Tikiapara EMU Carshed. All the 12 Ambulance and Nursing divisions of this District organised their Annual Training Camps during the year.

23. TELANGANA STATE & ANDHRA PRADESH The A.P. State Centre has completed 58 years of dedicated services in the field of First Aid & Home Nursing training.

INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY

During the year under review 11,290 candidates in First Aid & 724 candidates in

Home Nursing were trained respectively. They included people from all strata of society i.e. students, teachers, nurses, factory workers, police personnel including IPS probationers, grey hounds, C.I.S.F, social workers, army personnel men and women air hostesses, GMR Hyderabad international airport personnel, star hotels, IT Industries etc.

24. U.T CENTRE CHANDIGARH 2nd JANUARY, 2017 – ANNAPURNA AKSHAYAPATRA YOJANA

Food is a basic human need. There are many needy people in the city who work hard throughout the day, yet cannot afford food for themselves & their families. Looking into the scenario, U.T. Centre, Chandigarh initiated a project “ANNAPURNA AKSHAYPATRA” to provide affordable, hygienic and nutritious diet to the labourers, Industrial workers and all the needy. Under this project, a Kitchen Shed is erected at Karuna Sadan Building, Sector 11-B, Chandigarh with total initial cost of the project of Rs.70 Lac. The food has been prepared and packed in so set up kitchen at Karuna Sadan Building, Sector 11, Chandigarh and daily distribution will be done at 10 different locations in Chandigarh. At present, daily 2500 food packets are being distributed from these locations. This Humanitarian scheme getting positive social response as well as appreciated all around. 7th APRIL,2017 – CELEBRATION OF WORLD HEALTH DAY U.T. Centre, Chandigarh celebrated World Health Day by organizing Blood Donation Camp at State Library Complex, Sector 34, Chandigarh. The team of doctors along with para medical staff from Govt. Medical College & Hospital associated to collect blood from blood donors/volunteers. 63 units of blood collected on the occasion. 8th MAY, 2017 - WORLD RED CROSS DAY FUNCTION On this occasion, a Blood donation camp was organized U.T., Centre, Chandigarh in collaboration with PGIMER and Red Cross Volunteers. On the occasion above 100 Red Cross Volunteers participated in this event. Around 50 units of blood collected on the occasion. 21st JUNE,2017- CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY Participated in 4th international yoga day event organized by the Chandigarh Administration at Plaza Sector 17, Chandigarh. Around 50 participants were participated during Yoga day on 21st June, 2017 at Plaza at 6 AM onwards in the presence of Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh Administration, Sh. J.P. Nadda, Hon'ble Health Minister, Govt. of India, Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon'ble MP, Chandigarh and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration. 13th JULY, 2017 - KALAM EXPRESS PROJECT In order to achieve Aims and Objectives U.T. Centre, Chandigarh, an unique project called “Kalam Express Project” was introduced which is a Home Based Educational-cum-Rehabilitation Project to provide health and education service to the Child with multiple disabilities and several disabilities at their door step. The first Kalam Express Project was launched and flagged-off by His Excellency Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Punjab and Haryana & Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh on 23.06.2016 at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh. The team consisting of Physiotherapist and Special Educator visit different slum areas of Chandigarh to educate these special children on daily basis. Till date, 158 differently abled children were enrolled under this project.

As it is well aware that blood is very important life saver and to save the precious life of someone, U.T. Centre, Chandigarh regularly organizes Voluntary Blood Donation Camps from time to time to cater the government hospitals. Centre, Chandigarh every year participate in the March Past Parade, First Aid Post and display of tableau on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day. The tableau of newly launched “Red Cross Sarai” was also displayed on 26th January, 2018 which was appreciated all over.

30th JANUARY, 2018- INAUGRATION OF INFOSYS RED CROSS SARAI

U.T. Centre, Chandigarh came forward with a very noble cause of constructing a Sarai Building in the PGI Campus. The land for the Sarai has been provided by the PGI to IRCS, Chandigarh and construction was done by the Infosys Foundation with approximate cost of Rs.22 Crore. The 300 bedded building is designed to cater to the needs of the patients and the attendants visiting PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Infosys Foundation Red Cross Sarai was inaugurated by Sh. Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister for Home Affairs, Govt. of India on 30th January, 2018 in the presence of Hon'ble MP Smt. Kirron Kher, Smt. Sudha Murty, Chairperson, Infosys Foundation and other senior officers of Chandigarh Administration. Total 40,876 people benefitted of the Infosys Red Cross Sarai from March to December, 2018.

First aid, FMR and SERV Instructors training were conducted in 2017-18 by Uttarakhand State Centre to general public, workers/officers of factories in 108 batches and 3137 peoples participated out of which 3132 were certified.

Total 3137 3132 Training of FMR provided free of cost by the State Centre. FMR’s work in the disaster affected areas. This year they provided first aid, distributed relief material in the districts of Uttarakhand namely Pauri and Uttarkashi. Total number of beneficiaries to whom relief material provided were 106.
