A Father’s Day Prayer
Let us praise those fathers who have striven to balance
the demands of work, marriage, and children
with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice.
Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model
for a father, have worked to become a good father.
Let us praise those fathers who by their own account
were not always there for their children,
but who continue to offer those children,
now grown, their love and support.
Let us praise those fathers who, despite divorce,
have remained in their children’s lives.
Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted,
and whose love and support has offered healing.
Let us praise those fathers who, as stepfathers,
freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned
their stepchildren’s love and respect.
Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death,
and continue to hold the child in their heart.
Let us praise those men who have no children, but
cherish the next generation as if they were their own.
Let us praise those men who have “fathered” us
in their role as mentors and guides.
Let us praise those men who are about to become
fathers; may they openly delight in their children.
And let us praise those fathers who have died,
but live on in our memory
and whose love continues to nurture us.

Annual Pastoral Appeal Blessed are we...who today remember,
with love and affection, our fathers.
As we celebrate today let us give
thanks for the gifts they have shared with us and
with others. It is leadership such as theirs that
teaches us and guides us. So too, the leadership
of our bishop and clergy helps guide us on our
spiritual journey. Thank you for supporting those
who provide spiritual leadership through your
participation in the Annual Pastoral Appeal.
Baby Bottle Campaign
Knights of Columbus Council #5131 Thank you to all who participated in the Knights
of Columbus baby bottle campaign. Please return
your bottles at the front of the church today.
These special bottles will
be reused by other pro-life
upcoming campaigns. Forgot your bottle?
Just return it next week. Have an empty bottle?
Please return that one too! Bringing back an
empty bottle is just like donating $1.50 back into
the pro-life effort! All support raised through your generosity will
be used to help protect life and give help to our
local pregnancy outreach center. Every coin adds
up. Each prayer makes a difference. In gratitude for your generosity.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops has announced Religious
Freedom Week 2018 will take place

Serving Others in God’s Love. The week begins
with the Feast of Sts. John Fisher and Thomas
More, and ends with the Solemnity of Sts. Peter
and Paul, and includes the Feast of the Nativity
of Saint John the Baptist. People of faith are committed to serving others in
God’s love in healthcare, child welfare, migration

Become a Host Family
Japanese Students Host families are needed to house Japanese
students from July 28–July 30 (2 days). Students
are visiting the area for the weekend from a math
and science institute in Japan and are all high
school age. When they arrive in the U.S. they visit Harvard
and MIT and sit in on classes and meet with
professors. When they arrive here, they wish to
have the experience of meeting American fami-
lies, learning our culture and sharing theirs. For more information on how to become a host
family, please contact Ali O’Connor at 418.3942.
Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. John Vianney #1944 Each year, beginning in September, the Catholic
Daughters spiritually adopt a new baby to pray
for his/her development and survival from the
perils of abortion. Then, near the 9th month of the
baby’s gestational period, CDA members hold a
baby shower during a monthly meeting to collect
gifts for the babies and mothers of Mary’s Out-
reach and ALPHA House. Pictured above are members of the CDA, Court
St. John Vianney #1944 and their many gifts.

From Jehovah’s Witness to Catholic (CD) As a third generation Jehovah’s Witness, Mary
Kochan was fully immersed in their activities
until adulthood. She offers an insider’s view
about what life is like for
Jehovah’s Witnesses and
what is most likely to help
them come to the fullness
of truth about Jesus Christ. Various CD’s, booklets and/or books are available
in the main entrance of the church. We kindly ask
for a $2 donation for each booklet, $3 donation
for each CD and $5 for each book to continue this
ministry. Please make checks payable to St. John
Vianney. For more information, contact the parish office
at 360.1147, ext. 233.
Altar Flowers We invite you to donate flower
arrangements in memory of a
loved one, to celebrate a birthday,
an anniversary, a baptism, any
other special occasion or a church feast. Donations and the occasion will be published
in the church bulletin and announced at Mass.

For Travelers and Vacationers God of all travelers:
Send us an angel to keep us safe wherever we go.
Grant us summertime refreshment, as you once
sent ravens to refresh your holy prophet Elijah. Like Ruth and Naomi,
keep us devoted to one another. Like Abraham and Sarah, may we be gracious to
guests and hospitable to strangers. Bless us on our journeys,
bless the people we meet,
and bless our returning home,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Will You Help Us?
Vacation Bible School’s Charity At St. John Vianney’s Vacation
Bible School, the children learn
about the social teachings of the church and how,
we as Catholics take care of those in need,
especially children and the poor. In order to help
put these teachings into action, each year, we
select a different charity to support. Earlier this year, Sr. Marie Therese Dondja from
the Congregation of Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi
and the niece of Fr. Emery, now a pastor of Most
Holy Cross, visited with us. It was during her
visit that we learned of her mission to help build
a school for the orphans, also known as street
children, in Tshumbe in the Democratic Republic
of the Congo. Millions of children have been affected by the
war, famine and misery in the DRC. Life’s
necessities of food, water, housing, schooling,
work and social activities do not exist. School is a place to learn about Jesus and prepare
children for a bright future. Currently, children
fortunate to receive a lesson, sit on the ground
and use their fingers to write in the dirt. During the week of VBS, children will receive
lessons about the orphans of Tshumbe. They will
be encouraged to gather monetary donations to
support Sr. Marie Therese’ mission. On Sunday,
June 24th, after they celebrate the 10 a.m. Mass
together, they will reach out to parishioners to
support their cause. Please prayerfully consider helping the VBS
children build a school.
