Please call your Parish Office or email Jenn at [email protected] to add or remove names from the grouping prayer lists.

When, for any reason, we cannot participate in Mass, the Church invites us to unite with Christ

through this prayer of Spiritual Communion. Praying this prayer is a beautiful way to unite our

hearts to Christ's when we cannot receive him physically in the Eucharist.

As we welcome parishioners back to Masses, we

appreciate your patience and cooperation. The best way

for us to keep the number of attendees within the

guidelines is to have those who wish to attend a weekend

Mass sign up for that Mass. You can find the link to the

Sign Up Genius page on our grouping website,

stsjjmcatholic.org, or go directly to

https://www.signupgenius.com/

go/8050D4DA9AF29A7FF2-august

If you do not have online access, call your parish office

and we will sign you up. Please sign up for weekend

Masses by the Thursday prior if possible. We ask that you

comply with all of the posted guidelines. You will need to

sanitize your hands and wear a face mask. We ask that

you follow the seating and traffic flow patterns as

designated and directed by ushers and celebrants.

Remember there is no obligation to attend Mass. If you

are over 65, have underlying health concerns, or cannot

wear a mask, you are encouraged to stay at home for

your safety.

PRAYER FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT

Holy Spirit, fan into flame the gifts I received in my Baptism and Confirmation.

I want to receive the fire of Your love as Your disciples did at Pentecost.

Come with wonder and awe, with wisdom, understanding, and counsel, with courage and faith in You.

Holy Spirit, may my actions witness to Your presence in my life.

Help me to see the ways my strengths can serve others in their weakness.

In all my interactions, I want to radiate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,

generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Breathe new life into the world through me.

Amen.

This week’s Blessed Mother candle at St. John is

in Thanksgiving by the Yonoskos

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that

never was it known that anyone who fled to thy

protection, implored thy help, or sought thy

intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this

confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of

virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come;

before thee I stand, sinful and

sorrowful. O Mother of the Word

Incarnate, despise not my petitions,

but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen

+ Rest In Peace + Our sympathy and prayers to Joann Kale on the

passing of her mother, Mary Stehle.

May Mary’s soul and the souls of all of our faithful

departed rest in peace forever. St. Joseph Festival 2020 Drawing God bless you for your sacrifice and your

generosity. You continue to amaze us with your commitment and passion as parishioners.

Thank you!

Just to remind those who are hearing about the drawing for the first time– anyone who makes a donation to the St. Joseph Festival 2020 fund will have their name put in a special drawing. The prizes include an iPad, a $500 gift card basket, a $100 Market District gift card, a wine basket and a Vera Bradley “On The Go” basket. The drawing will take place on Sunday, September 13, after the 11 AM Mass.

You may use the black lock box, collection basket in church, mail your donation, drop it by the office or give online (Select Other, it is the first option), whichever is convenient for you. We appreciate it. Send your donation by September 6 to be included in the drawing.

THANK YOU!

LIFETEEN IS BACK We will resume starting Sunday August 23rd with an outdoor fireside fellowship in the pavilion behind St Mary’s church.

The time is from 6:30 – 8:00. Due to ongoing restrictions, we cannot provide our typical meal so eat before you come and

you may wish to bring a camp chair of your own. Let’s just call this our MASK-A-RADE start to the year.

Lifeteen is our fellowship and learning program for all High School (9-12th) and 8th grade who have made their Confirmation.

The Sanctuary Candle at St. Mary this week is in memory

of Skip Green

In honor of one of our soon to be patronal

feasts of our new parish, a tapestry has been

donated depicting the Assumption.

The tapestry was donated in honor of the

Living and Deceased Mothers of St. John's,

St. Joseph's, and St. Mary's.

The tapestry is displayed at St. Mary's.

Important Parish Mailing

Each household of St. John, St. Joseph and St. Mary

parishes will receive a letter in the mail the

beginning of this week. The letter includes

information about our upcoming merger; a

PowerPoint presentation that you will be able to

view either by phone or on the Internet thru Zoom;

a naming form that lists the eight choices for a name

for our new parish and how to cast your preference;

and lastly, the year-end financial statement for your

particular parish. If you have any questions about

any of the letter enclosures, please direct them to

your particular Parish Office, thank you.

In 2021 we will be in need of additional volunteers from St John parish. All dinners are served on Tuesdays with cooking 10AM-12N at St John's hall and set up/serving 3pm-6:30pm in Butler. Volunteers are needed for any part of those times and do not need to commit to the entire day. Dates of the dinners will be listed once they have been scheduled. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Pope St. John Paul’s encyclical, “The Gospel of Life” (Evangelium Vitae).

Recently, Pope Francis confirmed that now, “the message of Evangelium vitae is more relevant than before”.

It is a matter of acting on a cultural and educational level in order to transmit an attitude of solidarity, caring and welcome to future generations, knowing that the culture of life is not

the exclusive patrimony of Christians. It belongs to all those who, working to build fraternal relationships, recognise the value of each individual person, even when he or she is fragile and suffering.

St. John Paul's encyclical on the dignity of human life, he added, is "timelier than ever" not only in its defense of life but also in its call to pass on "an attitude of solidarity, care and acceptance" to future

generations. He then proclaimed, "Therefore, with St. John Paul II, I reaffirm with renewed conviction the appeal he addressed to everyone 25 years ago: 'Respect, defend, love and serve life, every life, every

human life! Only on this path will you find justice, development, freedom, peace and happiness!'"

Below is an excerpt to reflect on this week.

From the “Gospel of Life” #39.

Man’s life comes from God; it is his gift, his image and imprint, a sharing in his breath of life. God therefore is the sole Lord of this life: man cannot do with it as he wills.

- Pope St. John Paul
