A Family Committed to Hospitality, Prayer, and Worship - Jan 19

Our “A Family Committed to Hospitality, Prayer, and Worship” Program Commitment Sunday is this weekend at all Masses. We encourage all parishioners to complete and turn in your Commitment Cards to the church. The Com-mitment Card contains information on how to plan your increased offertory gift to the church, and asks for your commitment over the next year. If you have any questions regarding this program, or how to give electronically, please contact the parish office, 839-7076.

Stewardship Thought Christian stewardship trains us to become aware

that God is the ultimate giver of the gifts we have. Our gift to God should be

“from the top” – not what may be left over.

Living Stewardship Today’s responsorial Psalm is the theme song of the good steward: “Here am I, Lord: I come to do your will.”

May I, too, stand ready to offer myself and my gifts in the service of God.

Online Giving Sign-Up, Jan. 25 & 26 After each Mass during the weekend of Jan. 25 and 26, two St. John employees, Zach Wald and Luke DeMers, will be in the Parish Hall helping people who need as-sistance in signing up for online giving.

This is a great opportunity to go paperless; you will not have to worry about forgetting your envelope or writ-ing a check!

St. John’s has day-to-day costs that do not get paid without your faithful contributions.

Online giving has options to set up a reoccurring gift for weekly, monthly, or annually. Please consider using online giving, which is easy and user friendly.

Zach and Luke will answer any questions you may have about how online giving works.

If you would like to sign up for online giving, but do not need assistance, you can find an online

giving link under “important links” on our website: https://stjohnminot.com/

TIME, TALENT, TREASURE January 19 , 2020 The Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Statement of Activities Correction

Back in September 2019, contribution statements were sent in the mail. Included with the statements were a State-ment of Activities from 2018-2019 and a Budget for 2019-2020. The Statement of Activities (SOA) shows the parish’s income and expenses. In reviewing the SOA for 2018-2019, an error was found after the statement was sent in the mail.

*The SOA reflects either a net gain or loss for a given year or period of time.

After each fiscal year, it is appropriate to review our accounts in the accounting system and archive accounts that we do not use and/or create new accounts to help read financial statements and account better for income/expenses.

A few accounts were added and a few were archived.

If an account is archived in our accounting system, then those records will not show for income or expenses in the SOA unless it is specified to show the archived accounts. It was not specified for one income account ($3,428.64) and one expense account ($9,207.79) when the SOA Financial Statement was completed. This week, you received a brochure in the mail about a new program starting at St. John’s: “A Family Committed to Hospitality, Prayer, and Worship Program.” The correct Statement of Activities for the fiscal year 2018-2019 is found in the brochure. A new, standard SOA and Budget have been constructed and you will see this format from now on for future statements.

If you have any questions please contact Luke DeMers, Parish Business Manager, at 701-839-7076.
