Dear Brothers and Sisters - Queridos Amigos , I share with you this reflection -Comparto con ustedes esta reflexión:
Andrea had done everything her parents had warned her against and had lied to cover it up. But it’s impossible to keep a secret in a small town, so she stopped talking to them. When they continued “nagging” her she moved out “forever,” telling her parents she “didn’t have a family” anymore. Eight months later, broke and lonely, she chanced to see her father on the street. Certain he would condemn her, she turned way—too late. “Hello, Andrea. How have you been?” Andrea could not contain her tears when she heard the words, “Sweetheart, your mom and I would love for you to come home.” What must it have been like for the Israelites to learn that they were free to go home from their exile? No questions asked. All debts forgiven. A new beginning. If we can imagine their joy and gratitude perhaps we can understand more deeply the tremendous gift we have been given in baptism—God’s mercy gives us the courage to leave our self-imposed exiles and come home.
Living God’s Word We don’t always “come toward the light” (John 3:20). Sometimes we prefer the darkness. We might fear being condemned if our deeds are brought to light or we may simply be unable to find our way in the dark. We need the light of Christ to help us believe once more in God’s merciful love.
Andrea ha hecho todo lo que sus padres le advirtieron no hacer y ha mentido para encubrirlo. Pero como es imposible guardar un secreto en un pueblo pequeño, ella ha dejado de hablar con la gente. Cuando sus vecinos siguieron “fastidiándola” se fue “para siempre” y le dijo a sus padres que ya ella “no tenía familia”. Ocho meses después, sin dinero y desolada, se arriesgó a ver a su padre en la calle. Segura de que él la condenaría, ella quiso cambiar de camino, pero ya era tarde. “¡Hola Andrea! ¿Cómo has estado? Andrea no podía contener las lágrimas al escuchar las palabras que le dirigía su padre: “Cariño, a tu mamá y a mí nos encantaría que volvieras a casa”.
¿Cómo se habrán sentido los israelitas al saber que tenían la libertad de volver a su tierra después de su exilio? Sin condi-ciones. Todas las deudas perdonadas. Un nuevo comienzo. Si podemos imaginarnos la alegría y la gratitud de ellos, tal vez pudiéramos entender mejor el don inmenso que se nos ha dado en el bautismo. La misericordia de Dios nos da el valor para abandonar los exilios que nos hemos impuesto a nosotros mismos y así regresar a casa.
Vivamos la Palabra de Dios No siempre nosotros nos “acercamos a la luz” (Juan 3:21). A veces preferimos la oscuridad. Pudiera ser que con frecuencia temamos ser condenados si nuestras obras salieran a la luz o tal vez sea que sencillamente somos incapaces de encontrar nuestro camino en la oscuridad. Necesitamos la luz de Cristo que nos ayude a creer de nuevo en el amor misericordioso de Dios. God Bless You/Dios los bendiga

Everyone is invited to attend weekly. Specific ministries or groups, both English and Spanish, have been assigned to lead each week.

EASTER BAKE SALE
The members of St. Gerard Women’s Club are having their annual Easter Bake Sale and Raffle after the 4:30 p.m. Mass on SATURDAY, MARCH 24th as well as SUNDAY, MARCH 25th. There will be a Continental Breakfast offered after all the Masses on SUNDAY, MARCH 25th. It is a great weekend celebration with lots of great baked goods, raffle prizes and “trinkets and treasures” table, with all proceeds for the weekend going to St. John’s Church.

COMMUNITY LIFE VIDA COMUNITARIA
DIOCESE CHAMPS!!! Our Shamrocks came back from a 12 point deficit to take the championship! It wasn’t an easy road to get here, but they kept their heads up all season long and always worked together as a team!!! Thank you all who came out to support our 4th grade boys. This group of young boys went undefeated through the season, tournaments, and playoffs. Thanks to Coach Jesus as well as Coach G, Coach Felix and every single parent and player for such an awesome basketball season. Go Shamrocks! ¡Nuestros Shamrocks regresaron de una desventaja de 12 puntos para llevarse el campeonato! No fue un camino fácil para llegar hasta aquí, pero mantuvieron la cabeza alta durante toda la temporada y siempre trabajaron juntos como equipo. Gracias a todos los que vinieron a apoyar a nuestros niños de 4th grado. Este grupo de jóvencitos se mantuvo fuerte durante la temporada y los torneos. St. John had a good year! A large majority of the Sunday offering envelopes have been collected by our parish families. For those of you who have not as yet picked up your envelopes, there is still time to do so. Please stop in the parish office and we will be more than glad to make sure you have them.
Using the Sunday envelopes ensures that your donations are posted to your offering account. Please make sure that you write clearly on the outside the amount you have enclosed. For those of you who are at this time using blank envelopes, please write you account number and dollar amount on the front. If you do not know you number then your FULL FAMILY NAME, ADDRESS, and DOLLAR amount must be listed on the front.

CUARESMA: TIEMPO DE COMPARTIR
Aprender a compartir es un proceso que se va desarrollando con el tiempo y la educación, no es una característica in-nata que como seres humanos poseamos, es algo que se aprende poco a poco. Por eso en este tiempo de Cuaresma, que es un tiempo fundamental para compartir lo que somos y tenemos, quiero pedirles a ustedes padres de familia, que motiven a sus hijos a pensar y a ponerse en el lugar de tantos niños que no tienen hogar que no tienen que comer. Niños que encontramos en todo el mundo y quizá cerca de nosotros.
Cada Catequista tiene en su salón una alcancía en donde colocarán su limosna semanal cada niño. Con esto estaremos enseñando a nuestros niños el valor de compartir con los demás, así como nos lo enseñó Jesús.
LENT TIME TO SHARE
Learning to share is a process that develops over time and education, it is not an innate characteristic that as human beings we possess, it is something that is learned little by little.
That is why at this time of Lent, it is very important and fundamental to share what we are and have. I want to ask you parents to motivate and encourage your children to think and put themselves in the place of many children who don’t have a house, who don’t have food. Children around the world and maybe close to us.
Each Catechist has a little box in the classroom, where each child will put their weekly alms. With this we will be teaching our children the value of sharing with others, as Jesus did.
